    FWIW

Interesting that Nick Nurse said Pascal Siakam was benched for the final nine minutes in Game 5 due to defensive effort more than anything.

Every time(?) Siakam has been challenged — see after Game 2, Milwaukee — he’s responded.

I’ll chalk up Pascal’s 49 pts as “responding”

Don’t anyone asterisk this series either, unless they want to asterisk the one GS won when Irving and Love were out.

Very questionable judgement from Steve Kerr in regards to his center rotation. In the 2 games that Golden State won Cousins played 20 or more minutes, and made a noticeable impact on the floor. All 4 losses Cousins gets less than 20 minutes. You can call it a knee jerk reaction if you want, but I have serious questions about a coach giving more minutes to a guy with a broken collarbone, and a washed up Andrew Bogut over Demarcus Cousins. Not to mention the extra spacing and shooting that Cousins provides for that team when you have 2 of your primary shooters injured.

Cousins can’t last on the court that long without fouling out.

G S Needed more Boogie Cous. Sad ending to season.

Hopefully my last post on the KD situation.

GG will think I am a conspiracy theorist, but here is what I think it all went down.

    1) KD injures his Achilles vs the Rockets. Not a rupture, but a strain or partial tear.
    2) Warriors lie about such injury, and continue to call it a minor calf strain.
    3) Warriors continue to lie about the severity of the injury, all the while KD is lashing out at people on twitter, and getting treatments such as stem cell therapy on the injured Achilles.
    4) Warriors keep putting it out there that KD will be returning in the finals. Tried to push him to play in game 4. Workout went bad, and they didn’t clear him.
    5) Warriors leak to everyone that KD cleared to play in game 5, thereby forcing KD’s hand. Basically putting him in a no win situation and forcing him to play game 5 with an injured Achilles.
    6) KD blows out injured Achilles in game 5
    7) Myers comes out with his fake crying routine after KD blows out said Achilles.
    8) KD doesn’t even travel back to GS, but instead goes to NY directly for diagnosis and surgery.
    9) Kerr asked if there is any update on KD’s MRI – Says there is no update. 17 minutes later, KD is posting on instagram about about his successful Achilles tendon surgery.
    10) Kerr interviewed, after having a day and a half to get their $hit together, and still lies. Says with the information they had they would do it again. Said they never thought there was any risk or Achilles injury, just a chance at re-injuring calf.

Me thinks there is no way KD now coming back to GS if in fact the way I think it went down is the truth, no matter how much he may love his team mates.

Kawhi is being a douche as well. An entire country welcomed him and showed unwavering support. Dude will be a hero in that country forever. They managed his workload this entire year, and have told him they will continue to do that in the future. They have told him that the only time he has to spend in Toronto is during the series, and he can hang out in California as much as he want’s. Yet he can’t commit to them and will most likely be a free agent and end up signing with someone like the Clippers. Unfricking believable.

Golden state didn’t have Kevin Durant at the time, and Mozgov and Tristan Thompson somewhat filled the void left by Kevin Love (his usual 20 points and 10 rebounds). Golden State had no one who could fill in Kevin Durant shoes. Iguodala is less of a scoring threat in his stage of his career.

LBJ is strong enough to bust double teams with his size and athleticism. When Curry doesn’t have Klay Thompson and Durant, smart teams will (or should) harass him with size and deny him space to shoot. And you can see that he was just overwhelmed once Klay left. The Warriors don’t just lose 60 points when they lose Durant and Klay. They lose important pieces that make their style of offense work. They lose playoff assassins who apply daggers to their opponent when they think they’re getting close. Durant is one of the most unguardable scorer in the league and KL was rarely tested.

Injuries are part of the game, but what happened to the Warriors was a sad way for a dynasty to end. They never had a full squad to defend their title in the end. Toronto barely survived a hideously depleted team, at one point Kevon Looney was questionable. It’s not something we can ignore.

You would rather him stay and knock Giannis out of the playoffs every year?

No, I want him to go. Just saying if you can’t commit to a team that has bent over backward for you, and can pay you the most, that is sucks to be a fan.

Did you just compare Kevin Love in his prime to Tristan Thompson? Not that Kyrie is as good now as he was then, but he was probably one of the ten best players in the NBA when he went down in that series, and equal to or more important than Klay Thompson.

  • tmarohl

Wow, Klay tore his ACL. Feel bad for him. Are the Warriors now going to max two players who will be out for a year?

  • tmarohl

How the fate of a franchise just changed in three days. Very sad. Warriors might as well just trade Curry now to a contender and rebuild.

He gave them a title so I think that makes them even. It’s a better story if he goes to a different team and tries to win back 2 back titles with 2 different teams. That would be a pretty cool accomplishment

  • yisman

well, the Warriors were pretty bad at home all season.

I posted some weeks ago all the bad home losses they had.

Cost them the title. People still acted like they were invincible at Oracle as in years past.

  • Sinthetix

I think that was the right thing for Kawhi to say. No matter what we did for him. I say “we” as I am a Toronto homer. Obviously I’m ecstatic about the win and hope that he stays but I’ve been here for the way we treated Chris Bosh when he left us (after signing an extension) and the way we called Vince Carter soft for not playing through his knee injury. There were rumours that it bent forwards as he walked but anyway. I hate to bring up hockey while celebrating an NBA title but we also treated Mats Sundin like shit when he wouldn’t waive his no trade clause. I hope he stays but unfortunately I think our best case scenario is that we give him the max in a sign and trade deal. I hope Gallinari likes the cold…..

  • tmarohl

Seriously, if you are the Warriors now, can you pay KD and Klay the max, without either probably being able to play next season, both probably not being the same players they were when the return a year from now, and pay all of that luxury tax, knowing your team will probably be a bottom feeder now in the West? They are going to have some tough decisions. Seriously think they may have to tear it all down and trade Steph and Dray.
