Wow, Klay tore his ACL. Feel bad for him. Are the Warriors now going to max two players who will be out for a year?

Crazy. Didnt think it was gonna be that serious of a injury after Klay was trying to stay in the game and then running to the locker room after they pulled him. Probably the adrenaline from the crowd reaction when he came back out to shoot the free throws. No way they can

I think that was the right thing for Kawhi to say. No matter what we did for him. I say “we” as I am a Toronto homer. Obviously I’m ecstatic about the win and hope that he stays but I’ve been here for the way we treated Chris Bosh when he left us (after signing an extension) and the way we called Vince Carter soft for not playing through his knee injury. There were rumours that it bent forwards as he walked but anyway. I hate to bring up hockey while celebrating an NBA title but we also treated Mats Sundin like shit when he wouldn’t waive his no trade clause. I hope he stays but unfortunately I think our best case scenario is that we give him the max in a sign and trade deal. I hope Gallinari likes the cold…..

It sucks for me, because Giannis say’s all the right things, but I know damn well he will be the next AD and we will be looking to get the best package we can get for him probably at the next trade deadline. Doesn’t matter how much the fans love a guy, or how much more money the incumbant team can pay.

  • theIrrigator

    @tmarohl said...

Seriously, if you are the Warriors now, can you pay KD and Klay the max, without either probably being able to play next season, both probably not being the same players they were when the return a year from now, and pay all of that luxury tax, knowing your team will probably be a bottom feeder now in the West? They are going to have some tough decisions. Seriously think they may have to tear it all down and trade Steph and Dray.

They have to let KD go

  • tmarohl

At first glance, NBA is going to be wide open next year. Warriors probably not even a playoff team. West will be between LA (assuming they get AD), Clippers (Assuming they get Kawhi), Houston, Denver and Portland. East will be between Philly and Milwaukee, (assuming both teams retain majority of their cores), This assumes that Kyrie leaves the Celtics and ends up somewhere else. Going to be a weird year, and I wish it started tomorrow.

Yeah, pretty much. What do they do with Klay though?

I just assumed Giannis is the type of person that would stay with the Bucks his entire career

I would love to think that, and he is a different dude, but the Kawhi situation gives me doubts.

Did you just compare Kevin Love in his prime to Tristan Thompson? Not that Kyrie is as good now as he was then, but he was probably one of the ten best players in the NBA when he went down in that series, and equal to or more important than Klay Thompson.

Durant and Thompson is more valuable to the Warriors than Kevin Love and Irving was to the Cavs. And the west used to be tougher than the east. Durant alone put the Dubs over the Cavs even when they had Love and Irving.

If the 2014 Cavs had someone like Lou Williams maybe they win the series. The Warriors were dead meat once Thompson left the stage.

I’m not saying there should be an asterik, I think what happened to GS this year was more fatal, given that they were playing against a vastly superior team. But they still made a series out of it. I don’t think it’s unfair to say that Toronto won a championship (only) because the Warriors were missing their two best players. Not just two good players, but proven difference makers in the playoffs, in terms of defense, offense an playmaking.

If you believe like I do that Karma is a bitch, the bitch just took out Klay as a payback for the Warriors shady handling of the KD situation.

Yeah I know. If Kawhi leaves I dont see any reason Bucks dont win the east. The west is more of a toss up with all the pending player movement. I think the Mavs are gonna be pretty good. As far as Klay goes I think they have to keep him

DK jinxed Klay with that red O next to his name before lock.

Yeah, players recover better from ACL’s than they do Achilles. Plus Klay is younger. I don’t think they can keep both and pay that luxury tax. AD should really just stay in NO. They would have a decent shot in the West paired up with Zion and Jrue. Hell, Lakers without AD could make a run with Lebron and the youngsters. Houston probably keeps the band together for another run now that their Warriors kryptonite is gone. Denver will be good. Portland should be OK. Clippers have potential to be really good if they add Kawhi.

Now they are reporting that a Sherrifs deputy was shoved and hit in the face by a Raptors executive. They are saying it may have been Ujiri! Wonder what that does for the rumored 10 million per year deal the Wizards are reportedly offering.

Must have thought it was the investor that shoved Lowry disguised as a deputy and wanted revenge

Well, the real Warrior fans will most likely not be priced out of games next season. The tix will probably sell for 10 – 20 cents on the dollar after the initial wave of people wanting to be in the new building is over. In other words, after about game 5.

  • tmarohl

You know the Warriors were going to continue to let Klay keep playing on that torn ACL, if Boogie didn’t commit the foul that they didn’t want him to commit.

Yeah GG said the new arena prints money, if that’s true it’s a good thing because they wont be making much off the tickets. Its crazy they are gonna go from 5 all-stars to 2. They are going to be like every other NBA team now

Hopefully my last post on the KD situation.

GG will think I am a conspiracy theorist, but here is what I think it all went down.

    1) KD injures his Achilles vs the Rockets. Not a rupture, but a strain or partial tear.
    2) Warriors lie about such injury, and continue to call it a minor calf strain.
    3) Warriors continue to lie about the severity of the injury, all the while KD is lashing out at people on twitter, and getting treatments such as stem cell therapy on the injured Achilles.
    4) Warriors keep putting it out there that KD will be returning in the finals. Tried to push him to play in game 4. Workout went bad, and they didn’t clear him.
    5) Warriors leak to everyone that KD cleared to play in game 5, thereby forcing KD’s hand. Basically putting him in a no win situation and forcing him to play game 5 with an injured Achilles.
    6) KD blows out injured Achilles in game 5
    7) Myers comes out with his fake crying routine after KD blows out said Achilles.
    8) KD doesn’t even travel back to GS, but instead goes to NY directly for diagnosis and surgery.
    9) Kerr asked if there is any update on KD’s MRI – Says there is no update. 17 minutes later, KD is posting on instagram about about his successful Achilles tendon surgery.
    10) Kerr interviewed, after having a day and a half to get their $hit together, and still lies. Says with the information they had they would do it again. Said they never thought there was any risk or Achilles injury, just a chance at re-injuring calf.

Me thinks there is no way KD now coming back to GS if in fact the way I think it went down is the truth, no matter how much he may love his team mates.

Nah, they are all sold already. The people who are going to take a bath are the season ticket holder who paid for these expensive tickets, that they now will not be able to resell for more than 10 cents on the dollar.

Kawhi is being a douche as well. An entire country welcomed him and showed unwavering support. Dude will be a hero in that country forever. They managed his workload this entire year, and have told him they will continue to do that in the future. They have told him that the only time he has to spend in Toronto is during the series, and he can hang out in California as much as he want’s. Yet he can’t commit to them and will most likely be a free agent and end up signing with someone like the Clippers. Unfricking believable.

That’s the problem with modern day sports. Many of the atheletes loyalty to their fan base and teammates are deluted. I remember the days of the great rivalries. First one that comes to mind is the Yankees vs Red Sox…..

KD won’t be a factor anywhere next season, except to the balance sheet.

True. Similar situation to Boogie. Wonder, who will sign him and basically lose a year or more waiting for him to heal and fully come back.. Also, a small chance he doesn’t come back like the same KD.
