I sense the operative word in this Finals is “variance”

Wild swings of variance in DFS production between games as coaches try to out smart each other.

  • telestraightshooter

If co-ordinating rather transparent lying in injury reports was held to the same accountability publicly traded companies were…..

…. Commish Silver & owners would have that Heisenberg feeling…..

  • telestraightshooter

Notice that Durant has not been on the bench, cheering on his teammates trying to help them win since his injury?

    Klay was.
    Boogie was.
    Durant can’t….
….cause that will be too painful to the NBA TV ratings

So you’re saying they don’t want to let the cat out of the bag?

My less conspiratorial take is that he’s continuing to get treatment while the games are going on, and it’s more practical to do that in the locker room than on the bench.
Now Kerr is saying there’s a “good chance” that he’ll be back for Game 5 or 6. But we’ve heard similar things so many times it’s beginning to feel like Lucy promising Charlie Brown that this time she really will hold the football and not snatch it away right before he kicks it. Not calling Kerr a liar, but I’ll believe it when I see it, because I think he really has no idea if or when KD will be back.

    Agreed.

I also don’t think KD wants to play at anything less than 100%. If he wants to stay in Golden State, I think it is much easier for him to return if they lose in the finals because the narrative on him might change a little. I.E. GS was not good enough to win without him.

Conversely, if he wants to leave, a poor performance in the finals because he is playing injured, and is hurt much worse than they have been letting on, could damage his market value.

A couple of months ago I thought KD was as good as gone. I’m changing my thoughts on that a little. Partly because I believe it is easier for him to stay if GS loses, and 2, doesn’t sound like Kyrie is all that interested anymore in the Knicks, That could be a sign that KD does not want to join him in NY.

  • tmarohl

One other thought, I believe Looney will play tonight. He seems to have an injury that can’t get worse, probably just pain tolerance. They will probably just shoot him up like Portland did to Kanter.

Wow, I agree with all of that!

The part about not wanting to play at less than 100%, in particular, makes perfect sense. Someone on one of the shows I watch, maybe it was Stephen A Smith, predicted that KD would stay if they lost the Finals but would leave if they won. IIRC, we agreed a while ago that he would be crazy to leave a great organization for the dysfunctional Knicks. Seems like the unfortunate injury situation is turning this into a win-win for KD, unless he comes back at less than 100% and makes his injury worse.

That would be great, Boogie is definitely not fully healthy yet.

He is going to join him on the Nets.

Any thoughts on Klay? How will injury effect his play? Ownership should be a little lower.

He played in game three like I expected him to play in game 2. He can’t cover anyone.

My thoughts on Klay are that he will take some of the shots that Curry was taking, so it downgrades Curry a little bit, but probably not enough upside with Klay to play him.

If GS loses the finals, KD will probably stay. If GS wins the series without Durant, I don’t see how he can stay.

Yeah he’s not consistently good anymore (if he ever was). Seems like he can occasionally be useful like in game 2, yet on the whole, probably not so much.

  • realphipps

Even with Klay returning, and possibly Looney as well, my favorite punt tonight is Jerebko.

No data to back it up, but I can see 10-14 minutes. At his price, I’ll take it. He creates a lot more spacing on offense, and he’s physically capable of playing defense (to a degree) unlike Boogie.

I’ll also buy some Boogie again, who will likely have depressed ownership, and a big monkey on his back after his Game 3 “performance”.

  • samuri8

The only thing we know for sure is that KD will be miserable with whatever choice he makes and will continue to be a sourpuss. Him and Kyrie are the same in that regard. Imagine those two delicate flowers playing in New York City lmao, one or both might just literally take their ball and go home.

  • ASitar

As of right now I’m doing 4 DK LUs, fading Klay and Boogie (Dray in only 1). Hard to choose between FVV and Iggy. Heavy Gasol and Ibaka. Bogut in 1, McKinnie in 1. Tonight’s probably the night that Powell sees 18 minutes and puts up 20 DK points.

I stand corrected on the bench absence. My attention on bench attendence was distracted by activity on the court or celebrity worship by the camera crew
    ;^)

Are there any links to his showing his recent recovering gait?

I think “Game 6 Klay” shows up. He said he feels like himself after the extra rest, and he knows how much they need him to have a big game. Think he plays like his life depends on winning tonight and puts up at least 25 real points.

Derrick Rose did that in his brief time with the Knicks.

    Just vanished.

That was the infamous scratch well after game time because no one knew where he was and the reporters amazingly didn’t notice that he wasn’t even at the facility.

Neither, I’d rather find a way to play more Draymond.

    Klay and dray day 2nite

Health isn’t Boogie’s issue…Boogie is his own worst enemy. His body language is terrible, he quits on plays, lacks effort and is following the infamous steps of one Carmelo Anthony. The guy is so fragile and had a chance Wednesday night to show the Warriors how he could be 3rd fiddle behind the splash brothers down the road. It’s over for boogie watch the rapid decline culminating with a 3 on 3 championship with Ice cube 2025 LMAO!
