Hi everyone,
Planning on playing more NBA DFS on Fanduel, just read Notorious’ breakdown on Cash vs GPP approaches. In basketball, how do you like to determine a player’s floor/ceiling? Look at scoring over time or is there a metric that helps?

Thanks!

@gje sent you a DM the other day.

Yes, sorry I haven’t replied yet. There’s a relatively simple answer to your question on how to determine the appropriate sample size but for the life of me I can not figure out what you are asking in the rest of your message. That’s where I’m stuck.

In the meantime, could I ask you a simple question?

That being, what is your level of comfort with basic statistics and data analysis?

The reason I ask is that while simple the answers to a lot of your questions require that I speak in “statistics jargon.” In this regard, I need to use basic terms like confidence level, confidence interval, margin of error, sampling error, precision level (note: some of these terms are more or less synonymous with one another), sample, population, z-score, p-value, t-statistic, etc., etc… and my reply will take forever (and I’m pretty limited on time) if I not only need to answer your question but also explain all these terms as well.

Tried to make it as basic and abbreviated as possible.

Again sorry, in your last several sentences I’m not quite sure what you’re asking. In my reply, I identified the parts I had trouble understanding.

@gje I’m fairly adept at statistics jargon. Now how to apply it is another thing. I read your reply and thanks again. I’m passed the other stuff as far as floor and ceiling using mean and standard deviation. Now I’m on to something new. Defensive factoring. Can you help here?
