This thread can be used to document NBA late scratches.I had started one last year I believe, but I didn’t stay committed.

Any players posted here must not have been labeled as an injury risk prior to lock.

You have to admit I think the late scratch has been a lot less rampant this season although it’s very early still. It is a little ridiculous that so many people follow certain twitter feeds all day long and these teams beat reporters and news stations never mention guys being under the weather or that they weren’t at shoot-around that morning for whatever reason. I mean, if a guy has the flu you’d notice that at morning practice or at least in the locker room when they’re being interviewed before the game. I can understand a team wanting information getting out early so teams can gameplan against them but if your only job is to follow a dozen guys all day long and don’t notice someone isn’t even at the hotel is a little shady.

It was known to prior to lock that he was feeling under the weather. He himself said that he was going to play but you should never trust players.

Edit: He actually even missed shootaround so that definitely wasn’t a late scratch

Just FYI he was never going to play anyways with CP3 back. I have no idea why anyone would pick him. Gordon goes back to the bench and Tucker is the other wing off the bench. No place in the rotation for Luc.

is there a point to the thread ? IE are we just ranting or trying to find the coaches or teams that give late news? Monday seems to be big scratch days..guys like to make it rain on weekends and feel flu like symptoms on monday

A little bit of both. Also, it’s meant to see how important late swap really is to the NBA DFS product.

So on a night like last night, wouldn’t you say not having late swap was a benefit if you didn’t have Moute?

Any night there is a late scratch and you don’t have that person it’s an advantage, right?

In my years of playing, I have benefited more often from late scratches than harmed.

    Yepppppppp

People only remember the times that it burns them. Confirmation bias at it’s finest.

I LOVE the feeling of having it lock at the first game and not having to check back until like 1 am lol.

Works both ways, the night Carmelo was out on that small slate i killed it since i faded him completely, but last night i picked Mbah quite a few times AND faded Harden like an idiot (i was sober, for the record) so i can’t completely blame the late scratch for ruining my night of quarter games. It is what it is, no need to get worked up over it, people get sick they don’t care about our “game of skill”

The point is that there is absolutely no legitimate reason for anyone to get burned by an after lock scratch. Luc being out last night despite what the dude above you said (Luc got 23 minutes last game CP3 played), was ridiculous. They knew all day long that he was sick and not even a single peep out of the team or a beat writer. Then 30 minutes after lock, he is scratched. The BS excuse that it improves the overall NBA experience is complete nonsense. I, and I’m sure many others since he was close to 50% owned in the cash games I was in, quit watching after we got the news. It was pure dumb luck that I managed to make a profit last night with him in my cash lineups and close to 30% of my GPP lineups.

This thread just takes into account late scratches, but it doesn’t take into account players who have a questionable tag to play. That is more of a factor than late scratches.

The point is to keep track of how many times a team scratches a guy late who had no designation, meaning there was little or no reason to suspect he wouldn’t play.

If a guy who’s questionable doesn’t play, you know the risks up front.

My favorite thing is players (touts specifically) who want no late swap because they want to spend time with their family and have no time to change lineups, and then for the next 4 hours all you see is tweets and posts from them about how the game/DFS lineup is doing, now that is funny! I HAVE NO TIME TO EDIT A LINEUP BUT HERE ARE 40 TWEETS ABOUT THE GAME! This is 100% not everyone so I certainly know there are players (touts) out there that do shut it down at lock but there are a ton that are clearly on social media/watching the games anyway.

I am an advocate for late swap but also can not dispute bhdevaults statement that it probably does help and hurt equal amounts over time.

On days like today is when late swap is needed. Everyone will have Frazier since no news came out on Teague. If we had late swap ownership would be split between the 2 guys. MME people get a real edge by being able to throw a couple of lineups with Teague, and a Couple with Tyus.

  • Jvanspro

Blah Blah Blah…. Who really cares. Play the late swap sites or slates then.
