At the same time, Bucks players beyond Giannis weren’t exactly fond of Kidd for his extremely hard-nosed approach to coaching the team that many felt went too far, something that is extremely evident in an anecdote from Mirin Fader’s new book, Giannis: The Improbable Rise Of An NBA MVP.

In the book, Fader details a December 23 loss in the 2014-15 season after which Kidd demanded the team come back on Christmas Eve for practice, to the dismay of the veterans in the locker room as just about everyone had travel booked to go home for Christmas, and called Larry Sanders “a piece of sh*t” while making them run sprints over and over.

Now we know why Larry Sanders developed anxiety and left the league. That was his last season too, before his failed attempted comeback. It was all because of Jason Kidd. Best known for taking a french fry off his kids plate then slapping his wife over it. Oh, and also spitting the french fry into her face.

    Good guy.

Yeah. I think it’s pretty clear that Kidd was a big part of the reason Sanders stepped away.

Like you were saying, here’s what Wikipedia has:

In December 2014, Sanders was placed on Bucks’ inactive roster due to personal reasons. After a seven-game absence, Sanders appeared on the Bucks’ bench on January 7, 2015, against the Phoenix Suns, but did not suit up. Rumors emerged that Sanders wanted to leave the sport, all of which were denied by his agent.

It was announced on February 21, 2015, following his second suspension for marijuana use, that the Bucks were buying out Sanders’ contract. On February 25, a video of Sanders was released where he explained that he entered into a program at Rogers Memorial Hospital for anxiety, depression and mood disorders. He said that the program led him to realize “what’s important, and where I would want to devote my time and energy” and that ultimately he realized that “for [basketball] to be consuming so much of my life and time right now … it’s not there for me. It’s not that worth it.” He did, however, claim to still love the game and that “if I get to a point where I feel I’m capable of playing basketball again, then I will.”

Found on the dark web…I mean twitter…

“One time in Chicago we were down two with a minute left and he calls a timeout. He starts drawing on the whiteboard and we all think he’s going to give us a play, but he turns the whiteboard around and says “Wouldn’t this be a great water slide?”

Kidd was such a bad coach. Sanders left practice after Kidd berated him and checked directly into a hospital.
The word many players used to describe Kidd’s coaching methods was “Mind F—cks”

I have been trying to tell people that Kidd is a terrible coach for years. Luka will either love him, or Kidd won’t make the season.

Clippers are trading Patrick Beverley, Rajon Rondo and Daniel Oturu to Memphis for Eric Bledsoe

Good trade for everyone actually, I think. Memphis moves Bledsoe (who has 2 years left) and gets back 3 contracts that will expire after this season, that also will probably be movable on their own if they were to want to. Clippers get a guy who is better than all this extra unneeded depth at PG, with the reemergence of Reggie, and the offense running through PG and Kawhi a lot anyway.

30 million tax savings for the Clippers. Kawhi isn’t going to play this year I don’t think. Bledsoe for the most part is an expiring as well, as only about 3M of 2022/23 season is guaranteed. Clippers also now have an 8.5 million trade exception.

Yeah, true about Kawhi. I’m zoned out. Forgot he was likely to miss this season. That makes it even make a bit more sense, because it gives them more of a scorer than Beverly or Rondo is.

Smart signed a long term deal with Boston today. I believe Josh Hart resigned with New Orleans as well.

I kind of thought they could have a slate that was good and some teams could have stayed home or close to home.
    I wanted.

    Atlanta vs Philly
    Suns vs Milwaukee
    Lakers VS Golden State
