I like it. Seems pretty sensible. Boston has a decent amount of guard options, and you can only play Grant Williams so much.

Memphis didn’t really need Juancho with JJJ, Clarke, Slo-Mo, and Tillman. Although Memphis is pretty loaded up at guard too.

Dunn should be an upgrade from Tyus and Konchar though.

Yeah, I don’t like giving up on him either. Couldn’t we just cut Okafor and move on? I know we needed to shrink the roster.

I look at it like we got four 2nd round picks for Sekou. Not awful.

It’s funny though that we’re supposedly just buying out Jordan. I guess that’s Weaver’s thing.

Traded for Dedmon. Cut him. Sign Plumlee. 1 year later trade him away for a nothing. Now trade for Jordan and cut him.

Sekou is now going to be stuck in BKN behind Blake, Millsap, Aldridge (I think?), Durant, and I think James Johnson too?

    I don’t get that there.

Thats what i wanted them to do because Okafor flat out sucks. Sekou was drafted as a project and it was known but now we give up on him at 20 years old because Casey wanted to sit him in the corner all the time and not let him play his game so he looked like a bust. The picks are cool but chances are some end up in the 50s range and we cant do much in the 50s. Whatever, I hope Troy plans to use these assets and cap space to land a major signing/trade like LaVine or something one can hope lol

Probably. Should be a piece that eventually gets them a halfway decent scoring vet. Maybe in a few months the Pistons can trade McGruder to BKN to get him back.

No Re-Acquisitions — Once a team trades a player, it cannot reacquire that player during the same season. If the team trades a player between seasons, it cannot reacquire that player until the end of the next season. The only exceptions to these rules are if the player is waived and no other team claims the player.

Yeah, that’s what I thought. I was more joking than anything. I didn’t realize that restriction wasn’t lifted until the offseason though. Thought it was like 6 month or something kind of thing, which would still be past the trade deadline anyway, I believe.

The Lakers have agreed to trade Marc Gasol, a 2024 second-round pick and cash to the Grizzlies for the draft rights to Wang Zhelin, sources tell ESPN. Deal saves Lakers $10M. Gasol and Grizzlies will work together on waiver and release to allow him to remain in Spain w/ family.

I cant see how a team wouls pay big money for Wall. He is just too banged up to be reliable. He still has game but he’s not worth the big money he’s demanding. Interesting to see what develops.

He is one guy, that I can’t see being moved, if Houston isn’t willing to attach first round picks to him.

  • miggs6876

Good point. Houston definetly needs to add something of major value to the deal. What were they thinking about picking him up at that salary? The franchise is a mess.

The Beard & Brodie marriage couldn’t be saved, just like the Beard & CP3 marriage couldn’t be saved. I think it was mostly a salary swap kind of deal, one albatross contract for another.

It’s only a matter of time until the Beard, KD & Kyrie ménage à trois falls apart, IMO.

He’s not demanding money, he’s unfortunately already got that money wrapped up for 2 years.

    Houston is pretty handcuffed here.

    Joe says no.

“In some ways, it doesn’t really fit what we’re doing. He makes a lot of money. And, can he finish games? I don’t know,” Lacob told the Chronicle. “He’s very talented. The problem is: We have Draymond. Draymond and him are very similar in the sense that neither one really shoots and they do a lot of the playmaking. That’s one issue. The salary structure is another.”

I was thinking all along that some type of structure like this is relevant to make the trade happen.

I think the important part is to make sure Philly lands a PG so a 3rd team is involved. Golden State also has three great young pieces in Wiseman/Moody/Kuminga all who have great value around the league.

Cavs are deep at guard so I wonder if they would be a 3rd team and Sexton would go to Philly? Cavs need wings in the worst way so the acquisition of Kuminga or Moody (if they view him as a 3) help in that regard.

You wouldn’t have Draymond if you made the trade. You would just have a younger, bigger and actually better defensive player than Draymond.
