So tbh, I kind of feel like the NBA premium offerings are lacking. Last year we had players at each position, an article from now Chris Gimino every day and INSPYR Court IQ. Both are missing this season. I know Hira is now working for DK but I just don’t feel like the NBA premium offerings justify themselves anymore. Just the survey, 2 or 3 core plays and a lineup builder that isn’t very accurate with projections even with the core plays locked in. Not very happy so far with the results. NFL on the other hand offers way more in depth info. Am I missing something. Because if this keeps up I can’t justify my subscription anymore

    Hey Holeeshit,

So I’m doing the value tags for NBA Monday-Friday. I personally love how LineupHQ has come together, and it really gives us as writers a way to tell you are favorite plays. I write up 3-8 guys everyday, and they’re my core value plays. Andy Means is writing up his core cash plays, and STL is writing up his core GPP plays. There are two ways to see the “tagged” write ups. You can go to DFS alerts, click NBA and hit premium (https://rotogrinders.com/news/nba?priority=premium). The other way is to hover over the RG logo next to a player.

As far as the other things you brought up. I’ve been writing content for RG for well over four years, and this is the most I’ve ever seen in premium. If you’re new to LineupHQ, it can be hard to miss some of the stuff, so I wanted to post it here, just in case you’re not seeing it.

CourtReport LiveBlog is a new feature this year. SBK is live blogging about injuries and news throughout the day. Notorious does a video during the week, Grind Down Update. He talks about updates he’s made throughout the day, and where he’s going on certain plays. It’s on the right side of the LineupHQ in the drop down menu:

Right below that is Crunch Time with Andy Means and Kevin Roth. During the week, Means and Roth go live from 6:30-7:15. Roth host the show, and Andy breaks down how he’s adjusting to the news as it comes out. After lock, he’s going over his lineup, and talking about the “why”. Personally this is one of my favorite new features, and you can have it up, as you’re working on lineups in LineupHQ:

Everything is accessible through LineupHQ. You can access Expert Survey, CVRs, Core Plays, and the Expert Insights in the slate overview tools. It’s on the right side drop down menu in LineupHQ:

Again, I think there is a lot more “why” than just giving out picks in LineupHQ, and I think it’s going to make you a better DFS player.

Hope that helps clarify the new lay of the land. Please let us know if you have any other specific feedback points, or ideas for improvement.

    -Stevie

    Great response stevie, thanks!

Holee, were you not aware of some of the new features? We may need to make them more visible. Or do you not use the up-to-lock features? We received a lot of feedback that early day NBA content isnt nearly as valuable as late day content so we wanted to emphasize premium content all the way to lock.

I also have a question about lineupHQ. I love how we have the premium filters such as the core plays, cash pool and gpp pool. However, they don’t seem to do anything. For instance, if I go into the Fanduel one, and tell it to build 10 lineups, then go in again, and select STL Cards GPP pool, and then again tell it to build 10 lineups, they are the same. Am I doing something wrong? I have asked this question several times and no one has had an answer for me as of yet.

    I’ve seen this answered before.

The lineupbuilder uses RG projections to make lineups.

The filters let you view the expert’s top plays but it doesn’t affect the lineupbuilder’s function.

I don’t think the experts are assigning a projection to every player (that would be extremely time-consuming) so it can’t work the way you want it to work.

If you want to use their plays, you need to build lineups manually (or use the lock button on their players).

Thanks for the info. A suggestion for a future improvement then would be to be able to select one of the experts pools and be able to build lineups from that. I.E. The player pool that the lineup builder is pulling from should only be the experts that you selected.

You can easily achieve this by just clicking the lock button on those players, no? Or assigning a percentage to those players if more than you need at a position.

I would like to see more of the data available to download into excel not just the rg projections. Thanks for all you guys do.

bhdevault already answered the question but I wanted to second that this can be done easily by assigning a % next to every player. That is how I build lineups using my own pools of 15-20 players for sports like golf. I make sure to favorite or add a % to every player that I want and when I build lineups it will stick to that pool if possible and if you find that your still getting a bunch of players that were not favorited you might have to go back and adjust the %‘s on the players you have in your pool until you get what you want.

That is by far the best way to handle a custom pool as it gives you the flexibility to have a higher or lower exposure to a certain player you want within the pool and doesn’t just auto fill lineups based on RG projections so everyone doesn’t end up on the exact same lineup.

Thanks, that is helpful. I have been messing around with it this morning. Still can’t get it to pull all from one of the experts pools, I will have to keep messing with the settings I guess.

Big ups to Stevie on that breakdown.

As Cal pointed out, the biggest shift this year is the move from early-day content to late-day content. We are offering more content, information, and depth this year than we ever have before – but along the way, we have shifted our delivery approach to account for the unique nuances of NBA. Instead of approaching Content Delivery for NBA as if it is the same as every other sport (which provides a subscriber with more early-day content…but with much of this content proving obsolete by tipoff on a large chunk of days), we reimagined Content Delivery as an “all day” experience. By taking subscribers up to tipoff, we are able to provide a lot more value and usable information than we could with the prior approach!

So tbh, I wasn’t aware of 2 of those 3 things. Something like this, a breakdown of the new features, would have been helpful a week ago. And if it was available then and I missed it, I apologize.

One concern is some days each week, 2-3, I work nights. I like to do some NBA research by 2pm each day and then keep up from there until lock. I’m not always gonna be able to watch crunch time and things like that, or have a half hour to spare in the evenings. But that’s a problem I can find a way to adjust. I’m not seeing the option for Noto’s grind down update. I see yesterday’s video in the “news and alerts” drop down at the bottom. But where can I find it “on the right in the drop down menu” in lineup hq. What heading is it under?

And last question. I’ve changed filters in lineup hq between core plays, gpp plays and cash plays and it generates the same lines. Am I using the filters wrong? What I mean is using, say, STLCards gpp picks generates the same lines as if I used Andy Means core plays filter. And I’ve noticed using the free lineup hq generates the same lineups as the premium. So with that said I must be using it wrong. Don’t mean to sound like an idiot lol. Things have obviously changed this year and I’m a little used to last year’s setup. Nights when I work, I need to be able to do things on my phone on the fly and I must be missing these options cause a few I truly didn’t know existed

The filters are just there so you can quickly view what players were picked by the experts, without having to leave the actual page. It’s just a convenience thing.

You will have to use exposure settings or even the lock button to force them into your lineups when generating them.

Okay cool. But where can I find Notorious’s grind down update video in lineup hq on the right in the drop down box. Or should I just go to the drop downs at the bottom under news and alerts?

It’s posted in the live blog each M-F, around 4:30-4:45 PM CST

Also, we will look into adding a direct link for it in the right hand menu of LUHQ in the future.

Here’s how I build lineups based on just the expert projections.
Show the advanced options, click the time for every games so that all players are excluded.
Switch to the Excluded tab, click the expert, click the plus next to each player. (You can just click repeatedly in the top position since they disappear from that tab as you add them)
You can then generate lineups with only those players.

You asked a question in a public thread and I answered it.

  • TheNutz33

On the LineupHQ, under premium content, there is a ‘rank average’. It is constantly changing and if I hit refresh every 5 minutes the numbers and players move.

So my questions is, who is ranking these players, what are they being ranked on (pt/$ or total points or matchup…)?

Hi, the rank average is being pulled in from the Consensus Value Rankings. The rank changes you’re experiencing is being worked on and should be fixed soon. Thanks.
