No degenerate dfs players going to play this?

  • JSteele

I’ve done some initial research going back the past few years of the rising stars game.

It seems like second year players don’t care as much about this game as the rookies do, with a few exceptions (Zach LaVine).

Last year we had Simmons, Markkanen, Bogdan, Mitchell, Collins, Tatum, Kuzma, and Fox participate.

This game seems to favor 3 point shooters and players who can keep pace. Last year there was a total of 96 3 PT shot attempts and 214 FG Attempts. The other way of scoring seems to be alley oops or dunks in the paint.

One guy I like on the cheaper end of the scale is OG Anunoby, everyone is going to play somewhere between 18-25 minutes for the most part but he fits the bill as a guy who can shoot 3s and he’s got lots of energy for throw downs. Forwards/Centers typically don’t do great unless they are an energy player. I do like Doncic and Trae a lot for this game. I think if one guy was gonna play well as a 2nd year player, Donovan Mitchell fits the bill. He won’t be playing in any other events so he should show out for this one.

I want to see these starting LUs. On the World team only real usage hog that scares me off of Trae is Tatum. If Fox, Mitchell and Tatum start then I love Trae as captain coming in playing alongside Collins and Allen. Lobs for days.

Kyrie and Dirk are coaching. Wonder if Carlisle or Cuban want Dirk to curb Luka’s minutes?

  • monarch

Dont play Mitchell. He is going to mail it in…talked about how tiring ASB was last year and how he wasn’t prepared for the stretch run. Was also asked about tonight and he said he wanted to dunk a couple times.

  • MerMer3

I think Luka will really try hard here because he wanted to make the All star team badly. He really should have based on fan votes but….politics.

He said he was gonna go out there and have fun, but what does that mean? Last year he was also in the dunk contest as well.

Looks like SGA, Bogdanovic, Simmons, Markkanen, and Ayton in first group in practice. Doncic leading 2nd group with Osman, Kurucs, Okogie, and Anunoby.

DFS impacts of Luka in 2nd group and rebounding rate spread out amongst bigs in first group?

  • mbunner23

Kuzma has never met a shot he didn’t like. He’ll be firing away tonight. Look for guys who are gonna shoot the ball a ton or handle the ball. Picking the right big man to grab 20 rebounds is tough.

Simmons is in the actual all star game in Sunday. Think I’m fading him as well.

  • noddy

Will everyone play the same amount of minutes tonight? Does it make sense to put a cheaper player at captain?

My thoughts as well. He will probably see lower minutes.

  • feekdogg

I like Okogie. I don’t think it’s in his nature to not go all out.

  • Benf15harp

Tonight is the night that OG Anunoby shows the world why he is the second greatest player in NBA history. Lmao

  • ASitar

what’s the over/under on the multi split on DK if it’s $10k? Who are your top 3 captains? I’ve got Luka, Trae, Bog.

So if Simmons is going to see low minutes, because he’s in the ASG, and Kurucs is coming off missing a game due to elbow inflammation I believe and who knows if he can play, I guess some guys on the Euro team may see some expanded minutes?

Why would Simmons minutes be limited compared to anybody else’s? Is there not 47 hours between tonight’s game and the All-Star game?

There is, but they’re unnecessary minutes. NBA organizations don’t want their players playing a ton of minutes that don’t matter for fear of injury as well. If history is any indication, players who also make the all star game don’t play as many minutes in the Rookie/Soph game.

Might not be. I’m still using Simmons. Just trying to find and play all the Angles. Maybe Simmons is one of the guys who gets 16 minutes instead of 22. For me, it’s not about the time between games, it’s that he’ll be at the big game and maybe more minutes go to the other guys to get them their shine.

Figuring out what Kyrie will do with Tatum may be key too. Kyrie seems like the type of person to try and get his teammate MVP, but then again he also hates Boston and doesn’t owe anybody $%#^

I went deep into this. Most of these guys played in McDonalds All American and Jordan Brand Classic games with the past couple of years. Might want to check out those box scores.

And he doesn’t appear to like Tatum very much. I think Kyrie is probably both a horrible coach and ridiculously competitive. Maybe Kuz plays 32 minutes.

I’m just saying the flashy All-Star Weekend you see on TV is not how it really is. You see Chris Rock and Nelly smiling courtside… and sure that’s great and all… and Lebron rented out an entire hotel…okay he’s lebron he probably won’t completely trash it…. but there’s also a bunch of guys with mixtapes who are in gangs and sell illegal products who are gonna be out terrorizing the city. Enterprise has probably already rented out every Chrylser 300 within 500 square miles of Charlotte this weekend.

All-star Games are like the seediest weekend of the year in this country. It’s like biker week except 30 times more dangerous… and you want to bet on the guys who are there to play basketball, not enhance their street cred by partying for 72 consecutive hours…

There’s a reason why so many guys play so horribly the first game after All-Star break weekend…
