Check out the Lineup Builder updates!

Just in time for the start of NBA season we have added an editable projected minutes column for NBA! When you edit the minutes, it will automatically update the projected points for you as well. Just like projected points, projected minutes is available for all users for FanDuel and DraftKings and premium subscribers for others sites. We have also added the ability to bring in projections from expert models that you subscribe to in the DailyMarketplace and soon you’ll be able to import in projected minutes from DailyMarketplace packages such as Seige’s Tournament Tactics.

You might also noticed that we’ve freshened up the Lineup Builder interface. We moved settings and filters into the player pool sidebar for easier access, added Vegas data columns, and totally revamped the generated lineups section. Check out the updates, let us know what you think, and keep an eye out for even more features coming soon!

I can not down load my CSV lineups, it shows up as a bunch of numbers instead of players names.

Hi Davey, it takes some experimentation to get the results you want with lineup builder. The first question I have is: Were you building lineups using the “optimize” or “tournament” build strategy?

When you use optimized, it treats the hearts as a max exposure and cares more about getting you a highly projected lineups. So you would need to increase the projections of players you want to see. Some features like stacks, variability settings are not yet available for the optimize strategy yet and only for the tournament build strategy.

The tournament setting should prioritize getting you the players you set exposures to. In general I would only set variability to 3-4 max since going too high decreases your chance of getting lineups (we’re actually working on lowering the max number on this setting). If you have narrowed down your player pool to a handful of players at each position, you’ll want to make sure your global max exposure or individual exposures are high enough to allow for enough lineups to be created.

Hope that helps you get started. I’m in the process of updating our basic tutorial and after that I plan to make detailed video tutorials about the various build strategies, settings, exposures, and ways to get the most out of lineup builder.

I was using optimized. Thanks for your advice. I will play with it some more using tournament and the suggestions you made.

Hey RG team – I have a suggestion for NBA lineup builder for DraftKings. Since there is multi-positional eligibility, I wonder if there is a way for the builder to give a preference to a certain position for a given player. For instance, today, Barea is PG/SG but I would mainly want him in at SG since there isn’t much out there for SG. Same with a lot of PF/C eligible players, I would rather put them at C. Is there a way that can be done? Otherwise great job guys, thanks!!

Great suggestion @dlin24. We have something similar for the flex spot in NFL where we allow you to select the percentage of the time you want a WR, RB, or TE in that spot. This would be a similar flag, but set at the player level instead at the roster position level.

I’ll make sure our Lineup Builder team sees this suggestion and thanks for your feedback!

Ive noticed something when playing around with the locks. Not sure what the issue is.

For example, I have locked Player A and Player B, run it as optimized and get a lineup of say 295 and Players A – H.
If I go back and change the lock from Player A to Player C, I would expect to get the same exact lineup of 295. But it switches some things and comes up with a different number.

FYI – This is with the draftkings tool where it makes you lock 2 players.

Could you let me know here or via PM which guys you’re using for A, B, and C? We take some steps to make the optimizer run more efficiently so something might be going on with that process.

Thanks for the reply @Riley. I do use those functionalities and they are great! Keep up the great work!

NBA lineup stacks are having a problem with hanging or not taking. Also if doing a lot of % settings the builder seems t just not recognize the settings. I have had to refresh and it knocks out all the excludes I had set when I was programming my builder lineups.
%slider on stacks does not move but if you try to slide it and then got to another stack the other one will move, So it can be programmed with some juggling.

What precision are you using for optimal lineup? For some reason when I run optimal lineup, it is giving a sub optimal lineup. Player A has 2 less projected points than Player B and the $300 salary difference is being left on the table. Why wouldn’t it be using Player B in the optimal lineup?

I used the Lineup builder for the first time. I was able to build 10 lineups and down load them to the CSV file. I uploaded the to Draft Kings and here is where my troubles began. The first thing was I could not use my line ups in the tournament I wanted to, it only me a few contest. Then in order to join that tourny I had to add each individual lineup one at a time. That would be very time consuming. I followed the instructions provided in the course “Mass Multi-Entering NFL GPPs” Any help you can give me will be greatly appreciated.

Got it. Thanks. I had to change from IE to Firefox for some reason. Thanks again. This is amazing.

Tried using it this morning to create 50 lineups for nhl, set the exposures i wanted and set my max exposure, none of which were followed. It had 9 players over 80% owned even though i had no one over 20 and set the max to 60. This was the second time i tried using the new one for nhl, and the first time wouldn’t generate any lineups at all.

If you have a build that returns less than the lineups requested, then it’s possible that exposures will be over their targets since they’re being calculated as a percentage of the amount of lineups you actually got. If you think this is the case, I recommend bumping up exposures to your core players, lowering variability, or increasing your overall max exposure to try getting more lineups. Let me know if that helps and we’ll go from there. Thanks!

Were there any error messages when using DK’s Upload Lineups feature or were the problems happening when trying to enter the imported lineups into the tournaments you wanted? You may want to make sure you’ve selected the correct slate in Lineup Builder before exporting your CSV as this problem feels like a slate mismatch at first glance.

We’re also going to be giving the ability to add more stacks in the near future.

I would love to see more stack options. Five just is not enough, it should be somewhere closer to 10 or 15.

This is a great addition to the lineup builder, but I do have one request with regard to minutes: is it possible to also have the projected minutes on the projections page, or in the projections csv file? Thanks

    Hello,

I apologize if this question has already been asked, but I haven’t seen it.
Is there a way to reserve the max number of places (example 50, in .25 GPP) and upload my lineups via CVV later in the day?

We recently added the ability to add more stacks. When you’re in the Player Stacks section, you should now see an option under Stack 5 for “new stack”. Just click that to add another. No limit on how many you can add, but I recommend not going too crazy with it :) Check it out and let us know what you think.
