I have never been fortunate enough to have been involved in a slate where a game (NBA is indoors) that has been postponed. I did not roster any players from the New Orleans game because of the O/U.

    My question is…..

What is done by the DFS sites for all of the people that rostered some of these players?

It would mine as my main gripe is they did have knowledge prior to the start of the game about the leak and none of that info wasn’t released to the public so that WE could decide if we wanted to take a risk or not prior to lock.

I lost D Murray in the first half and Alex Len got less then expected run but those were my choices based on knowledge I had. If I would have known there was a leak in the roof of the stadium I may have lowered my shares in that game thinking there may be an issue.

This is my biggest gripe as well. This information should have been released way, way sooner.
    NBA’s problem, not DFS sites.

Looking back, I wasted way too much time yesterday debating between Rondo and Joseph.

    Understand a few things:

Fanduel has a cancellation policy that allows them to cancel a slate for any reason. They chose not to because they would give up their rake.

Dk is just ridiculous. They have refunded in the past, but chose to do nothing. I filed a complaint with the better business bureau in Massachusetts for a few reasons:

    1. No policy notification was sent out of this change

    2. They prevented me from adjusting for the announcement, making this completely unskillful. Which goes against every argument thy made to numerous state attorney generals.

3.) its simply business ethics. Playdraft, yahoo, fantasydraft all did the right thing. Fanduel and dk did not….

I really recommend you reach out the the ny and mass bbb. This is not variance, this is an event that effected thw integrity of th3 nights games. People lost 1000’s of dollars, when all they had to do was either refund the people with those players, or cancel the games. They made a decision based solely in profit and not ethics

I live in RI I am going to contact the BBB today for DK.

That’s about what I’d expect from them. They never fail at failing.

  • lionssuck

I think DK & FD refunding the rake on the contests entered is a pretty fair solution. Was it their fault that the game was postponed? No of course not, so I don’t expect them to take a bath because of an unfortunate situation….but I also wouldn’t expect them to profit off of their customers misfortunes either. I lost 100% of my contests due to the cancellation & I would feel satisfied if the rake of those contests were refunded to me….the whole situation sucks, but at least I would leave the situation feeling that these companies at least somewhat care.

Because we paid ahead of time in good faith that the sites would run a contest giving each player the same fair shot at winning.

Imagine placing a big bet at a casino, and then suddenly they have a power outage and the casino says, sorry bud, we already got your money so you get nothing.

Yeah but at DFS we’re not playing against a house we’re playing against other players. The DFS players that won fair and square within the rules yesterday have the money (minus the rake) as they should. I understand maybe wanting some small part of the rake back like an upcoming no rake contest to make up for it or something

10K free roll is DK solution to this.

Super lame. At least you can still play in their “Hundred Thousandaire” contest where a top 3% finish nets you a cool 2x?

  • marker0357

Man, the wankers are out in force.

  • detroittigers44

I for one cannot wait to enter a 10K free roll with 100,000 of my disenfranchised friends… If my lineup kicks absolute ass, and I can beat 99,000 other people, I have a realistic chance to get $5 back… If you aren’t happy with that, you might be a snowflake.

    Haha.

Quick fix that would lead to a major decrease in bitching.

You must not have seen the bitching last year when there was a small chance the game would be played the next day and a rumor was going around that FD would include it if it was. Bitching from the people that thought they had already cashed, of course.

Anytime there’s some set of unusual circumstances there’s going to be a group that gets the short end of the stick. Nothing the sites can do, short of refunding everyone every time, can change that. And nothing the sites can do, short of refunding everyone every time, will ever lead to a major decrease in the bitching.

Food for thought just because different peoples thought process here is fascinating to me….., what if they tipped off, played 30 seconds with no stats accumulated, and then the leak started and game was canceled. Does that change anyone’s opinions?

To me yes it changes my opinion…to me that is like when I bet a horse the gates open and the jockey falls off the horse, race over/money lost I am out…that I can handle and accept.

i really hate dk, i played last night and and they emailed last night NO REFUNDS.. if fanduel is really doing the refund thing Im deff not going back to DK

The two teams didn’t have a shoot around before the game as I understand it. That means that some knew about this leak problem at least 30 mins before the lock last night.

All these beat writers and twitter accounts and it wasn’t mentioned until after the games locked? I find that strange in itself.

    Not strange at all.
All those guys probably play DFS… why give up an edge???

Until we get rid of usernames you will never have any sort of transparency

Looking back, I wasted way too much time yesterday debating between Rondo and Joseph.

I lost $200 bucks because of the problem and I might have lost it anyway. $200 isn’t going to break or make me but what does bother me is that the NBA and Pelicans knew for at least 30 mins prior to the game that they had a major problem and didn’t say a word until 3 mins after tipoff time, the lock.

Sure there had to be thousands of people there all tweeting away but no one on rotogrinders seemed to know. I consider us a rather informed bunch but not a word was said until after the lock.

Then there is this choice by the NBA to allow players to decide if they should play or not. Ok ok I understand it but what if MLB allowed that?

I’m in my 50’s and have been at this stuff going well back into the 90’s online casinos. People made fortunes off of bonuses and others lost fortune’s to rogue casinos and I spent close to a year researching black markets and gambling was one of the main topics.

To be straight forward as recent as the 1950’s into the 1960’s Vegas hotels sponsered cheating by bj dealers and table dealers, enter the government. When money is involved in gambling cheating will occur.

Today is no different. We will never know but was the hole the water was leaking from drillied? If it was would we be told?

So there are many people who feel this way and I’m trying to wrap my head around this way of thinking. What exactly is the complaint to BBB, that a transaction was made with a company knowing the terms and then the company stood by those terms? I only play on FD and their policy regarding is pretty clear, DK’s is similar no? Every player entered the contests under same rules and guidelines. No one gained an advantage prior to lock unless…… you think that the NBA and the DFS sites colluded to give an advantage to certain players. That in turn is huge problem that could take down an industry.

Of all the places water could leak in a stadium. It was at one side of the court on the foul line.

    Odds of that anyone?

This is more where my head is at with the situation. I don’t want to be a tinfoil hat wearing conspiracy theorists but am not naive either. This was the league that was blind to the Tim Donaghy situation for quite some time, or didn’t care.

Thinking it was done from below the rafters by an employee. Yeah I know how it sounds but sometimes it’s true. Not even connected to dfs, just a nut maybe.
