This year, my son (6yo) decided he wanted to play baseball, so we decided to learn the game together. Needless to say, he’s somewhat into it, but I am HOOKED! I also started playing around with DFS this year(almost entirely NFL), so now I would like to try my hand at MLB DFS.

Since I’m pretty new to baseball AND DFS both, I quickly found myself overwhelmed with the baseball metrics, and honestly don’t know where to start.

Any advice(what slates to play, what to read, etc) are greatly appreciated. I’ve always been a fan of the “K.I.S.S.” approach, although I’m not sure it’s possible with MLB.

    Thanks in advance.

I’m no expert but I would recommend reading some of the articles that are posted here about value plays, pitcher breakdowns, etc. If you really want to put in time you can research pitchers splits vs. righties and lefties and do the same for batters. Research weather using the daily weather thread on these forums.

Pitching is where mostly everyone starts. Bad pitchers = you won’t cash. Just bet small and have fun.

The RotoAcademy courses would be of assistance. There are a ton of metrics in Baseball and if you don’t understand them you will really end up just throwing darts at a dart board.

Those 2 stats are some of the most essential stats to look for in a hitter in my opinion.
