New York has introduced a bill that would legalize and regulate the DFS industry in the state. It’s important that this bill passes before the legislature adjourns on June 16.

We need your help! Support the daily fantasy games we all love. Send an email to your local representatives through Fantasy Sports For All’s form and make your voice heard!

Your emails DO make a difference, and it only takes seconds! Click here to contact your rep and support the NY DFS Bill.

While things appear to be moving in the right direction in New York it’s definitely not a time to get comfortable or overconfident. There are still quite a few things that need to go right, and the NY Gaming Association seems to have picked up their latest smear campaign.

As someone who has lived in NY my whole life I can tell you nothing is ever certain here. Pressure from the people will make a difference and hopefully lead to a quick passage of this bill.

Here is a link to the NY Gaming Associations twitter feed so you can see exactly what we’re up against.

Now is definitely time for everyone to show their support for DFS and head over to Fantasy Sports For All and send a quick email. Currently only 16,000 of the 50,000 email goal have been sent.

People love DFS but are not being pro active..
50k signatures is not alot for New York..Lets hope this number is reached ASAP!!

Serious consequences if bill not passed in June.
This could take another year or more for DFS to be allowed in NY unless action taken now by DFS community,by making their voice heard by signing petition and not twiddling their thumbs..
Sign the petition NOW,and better your chances for FD and DK to be available again for New Yorkers before NFL season.

It’s crazy that the NY gaming commission makes up asinine statements in a similar vein to Donald Trump.

Just wow at the complete lack of professionalism in that NY Gaming Association twitter link. The tone and misrepresentation level you’d expect to read from a junior high school girl who was just dumped for the first time.

The NY gaming association are a bunch of scoundrels. There web site states DFS is a losing proposition for the NY economy which
is just a total falsehood. 3 million players, 100s of jobs, participation by major NY sports teams, local tax revenue, etc.
They are comparing DFS to their own industry which is not an accurate or fair comparison. Ironically DFS is non threat to
their industry so their posture in attacking DFS makes them look like childish fools. Being disabled DFS has been a lifeline
for me and brings enjoyment to my life. I will be damned if I am going to let NYS mess with our rights without putting up a fight.
Common sense regulation was needed. The AG made this into vendetta. This could have been accomplished without shutting
the industry down. Lets not forget our responsibilities in a democracy/representative republic. Call/email/visit your representatives.
Organize friends, family, and like minded people. Don’t underestimate the power and influence of WE THE PEOPLE.
    Lets get this done!

The NY Gaming Association Twitter acct has fewer followers than a popular high schooler. In fact, it has fewer followers than a high schooler of average popularity. But yes, that account is sickening.

Does anyone have any idea how this vote is going to turn out? I know they do polls ahead of time and such, and sometimes can forecast (or at least make an educated guess) as to the result of things like this…..

Yes, but sadly they have lots of money and some pretty strong political influence.

Their main audience is the older folks who enjoy playing the penny slots at their 9 racino’s across the state. Its quite easy to make DFS look like sports betting to that crowd.

Thank you for contacting my office with your thoughts on fantasy sports and its legalization in the State of New York. As you may know, this topic has moved to the forefront of debate following Attorney General Schneiderman’s recent announcement that fantasy sports moguls like DraftKings and FanDuel were illegally operating in New York State and, in effect, prohibiting three million New York residents from using these sites.

You may be pleased to learn that I have been an outspoken advocate for the legalization of these websites and have co-sponsored a piece of legislation with my colleague Assemblyman Dean Murray (R—East Patchogue) which would allow New Yorkers to compete on daily gambling sites.

Assembly Bill 8588, would amend the penal law in relation to the excluding participation in any fantasy or simulation sports game or educational game or contest meeting certain conditions from the definition of “contest of chance.” If passed, the classification of certain fantasy or simulation sports games or contest would qualify as “games of skill,” no longer “games of chance.”

Again, thank you for contacting my office with your insight on important issues like fantasy sports in the State of New York. I will certainly bear your concerns in mind should this, or any bill of this nature, reach the floor of the Assembly. If you would like to discuss this matter at greater length with a member of my staff, or I can be of any further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact my District Office.

Can anyone explain why most of the second tier DFS organizations dropped voluntarily out of NY?
The AG was specifically targeting DK and FD. Yahoo, Draft day, Fantasy draft,Draft pot, Star draft
and others all pulled out of NY with no prompting from the Attorney General. They will not
even offer free games to NY residents. Fantasy aces is the only DFS company not to give in
and abandon NY. Thank God for Aces.

  • tommykarate

the action in cash games on fanduel sucks. i dont know how any pros can make a living solely from cash games…unless you play all different sites but you obviously will have completely different lineups on DK and FD.

hopefully it will get a lot better if NY returns. the most action i was able to get in the main slate today was $130

Fighting extremely expensive legal battles so we can continue to play.. The sites are by no means getting rich off the rake. No one wants higher rake, but with the cost of regulation state by state I don’t think the sites have many options.

  • msr427

They need to try n put the right people on the roster before they do anything.

  • Olhausen

To the people bitching about the rake. If you don’t like it then don’t play on the sites. It’s really pretty simple actually.

Everyone wants a piece of the pie.
We are a capitalistic society..Bloodsuckers everywhere..
We have to give other’s some of our blood so they can also thrive and survive..Cant blame companies for wanting to stay afloat and profit from their fan base.Highly improbable to avoid high rake, let’s just hope it doesnt get much worse..
