Is there anything out there like the Draft Best Ball tournament this year?

  • yisman

I don’t think these rankings are great but I should mention them since it took me time to find them (they weren’t listed https://rotogrinders.com/content-schedule/nfl)

Ok, First year doing bestball….did 5 $1 sit and gos in prep for the $20 entry…..here’s the team….tell me what you guys think….squid be kind, yet honest 😬

    Stafford Godwin
    Newton. Golladay
    Saquan Landry
    Gurley. DeSean jackson
    Mostert. Paris Campbell
    James white Kenny Stills
    Ronald jones cole Beasley
    Breida Steven Sims Jr
    Hunter Henry Miles Boykin
    Jimmy Graham. Kendrick Bourne

Edit…thanks Yisman, going through the app worked for taking the ticket

“”“”““Maybe im doing it wrong. Im waiting late for QB and landing on Goff, Jimmy G and Carr because i think those three will likely still be QB1, healthy and in pretty good offenses come late in the season. And on most weeks one of them probably beat Brees or whomever someone is wasting a high pick on.”“”“”“”“

You should be picking your QB based on STACKS you wanna build through the WR and TE you picked. I have multiple LU of Ryan/ Ridley/Hurst—-Stafford/Golladay/Hockenson Ben/JuJu/Ebron/Dionte…………. Lamar/Hollywood/Andrews///// Wentz/Ertz/Djax—

    Jimmy G/Kittle/Deebo etc…………………..

DK gave me a $20 ticket for one of these best ball things but there is apparently no way to get in one

Seems I’m required to pre-rank my players?

I have no idea what I’m doing

  • squidkill

    @NJsum1

Not bad- You have the Stafford/Golladay combo (would have taken Hockenson for the 3 person stack instead of HH) I like the little— Cam/J White combo

You do have a few high ceiling WR— Stills/Sims/Boykin/Campbell/D Jax———-

  • squidkill

    @titan hawks-

No- def. not – Not sure what you are doing- They might be filling fast- jump in another- no pre-ranking required

Thanks…the hunter Henry pick my only accidental auto-pick, I was deciding between him and a Wr (forgot who) and it timed out and took Henry. Got a little lucky as the first draft I did I timed out and it gave me an opt out. 😭

    thanks; I’ll keep trying squid

Squid. I get the correlation point. If you have multiple stacks in the playoffs then you could have as many as three clean ways to advance.

But that is not completely within our control in a draft. Are you saying if someone drafts Cooper Kupp and I draft Robert Woods that when it snakes to me i should be paying a premium for Goff?

Whenever I’m tempted to think about that, I remind myself how little we know about who these teams will be in Week 16, and how important it is to make it into the arena in the first place. I’d be very surprised if drafting for a strong Week 16 isn’t -EV.

Yeah its not the sole reason to draft but It certainly helps. Like Baltimore seems to have a pretty good matchup through the air against the giants based off of warren sharps preseason strength of schedule in week 16. I have both j.k. dobbins and marquise brown and brown would help my team that week more so than dobbins and I’ll just have another running back who has both an easy projected schedule and week 16 matchup.

It will depend a lot on your draft, but I’d make Jared Goff a priority once I’ve drafted Kupp or Woods. If I drafted both then I’m reaching at least a round or two early to guarantee I get Goff. My LU is already dead at that point unless he’s a locked-and-loaded QB1, which would mean he’s still a value in the 7th or 8th or wherever I feel >90% confident I’ll get him.

The Rams stack is an interesting one. If you go for both Kupp and Woods (tricky, but doable), I think you should avoid the TEs, because you’re betting that McVay reverts to a lot of 11 personnel that keeps Kupp on the field and in the slot. When they move to 12 and get both Tyler Higbee and Gerald Everett out there, very often Kupp is odd man out.

Conversely, Woods with one or both of Higbee/Everett means you’re betting that the 12 package they had so much success with last year is here to stay. That’s bad for Kupp and good for at least one of Josh Reynolds or Van Jefferson Jr., who will feature opposite Woods on the perimeter. I think we’ve got enough data to move on from Reynolds at this point. Jefferson is seldom drafted, so it’s a cinch for me to prioritize him as an end-of-draft flier once I’ve locked in a Goff/Woods/[not:Kupp] stack.

Im getting a lot of Woods, Higbee, Van Jefferson, Goff and Akers. Majority of them are on all of my teams.

They all pretty much have Jimmy/Deebo and Carr/Renfrow so I may have inadvertently stumbled into stacks.

Not Bad for my starters in the Best Ball (Wilson, Kamara, Conner, Lockett, Kirk, Lamb, Kittle, K. Murray) Now to fill the bench

I have zero shares of that RB room. McVay’s been talking about a three-back committee. We’ll see how it goes.

I was listening to someone. Maybe PFF and they said that the others backs are horrific in pass pro and Akers is at worst neutral.

My understanding is that pass pro has essentially zero correlation with rookie RB production in fantasy and only correlates weakly thereafter.

I’ve been wondering why people continue to peddle that narrative for years. Bothers me every single time I hear it, just like “QB X’s team will be trailing early and often, so they’ll have to throw and he’ll score so many points!”

We want our RBs running routes, not blocking. We want efficiency for our QBs, not inefficient volume. I’ve been around long enough to see the fantasy world get a lot sharper in a lot of ways, but some things never seem to penetrate the collective consciousness.

  • monarch

Not sure. I agree rookies dont earn points for above average blocking but Akers is more likely to register a catch if he is on the field than if he is on the bench.

For example in a chase situation that they might find themselves in often within their division. Negative game script type stuff.

    Yes and No…..I’ll explain

For an established Unquestioned bellcow, we’d rather him be running routes.

Yet for a guy who doesn’t quite have the role locked down, or a back up getting a chance due to injury we want him to be a good blocker. The reason is you don’t want him getting pulled from the game cause he’s going to get the QB hurt.

So while he may be blocking now, if he does well, he’ll get to stay on the field and have future opportunities to score fantasy points. Can’t score points if he gets benched.

Can’t remember the exactly who it was but years ago before this whole DFS thing I was watching a game with my partner in a season long league and another friend who wasn’t in a fantasy League and was just a casual fan.

That week we started a backup rb who was getting an opportunity due to injury. Maybe the 4th play of the game he blew an easy block and got the QB crushed. Then it happened again on the next drive. My and my partner looked at each at the same time and said f@ck! Our other friend is like why you guys upset, we both said at the same time “he’s gonna get pulled.” He got pulled.
