    8:00 PM EST : Chicago ( 1.5 ) at Baltimore ( 1.5 ) —- T 34

Cant find much on tomorrow nights game, any players to take a look at, either on Fanduel or DK. Hope to climb up on the standings with people taking starters and not paying attention that its only preseason game 1.

    Thanks!

Going to pair Tim White and/or Jordan Lasley with the Ravens defense and hope they can get the double return TD

Bears RB Ryan Nall ($7,400) was one of the big stars in Bourbonnais the first time the Bears put the pads on, when the 6-2, 232-pound undrafted battering ram from Oregon State demonstrated his physicality and run instincts. Taquan Mizzell ($7,400), formerly of the Ravens, is another Bears back likely to get plenty of run namely to ensure Jordan Howard and Tarik Cohen are held out of the extra preseason game. Mizzell is somewhat of a poor man’s Cohen, capable of making a big play at any moment, but we like Nall’s TD upside a tad more.

I’ve been reading good things on him just a little worried they have him listed at fb on the depth chart. Nall that is

Really wish dk didn’t screw up the showdown format by adding kickers and removing the IDP

  • SSlayton10

Am I crazy for considering ravens defense as my captain? Plays the whole game and should get 8-12 points with upside of 20-30 if a defensive td or two.

    Crossed my mind

That isn’t a bad idea, I tossed a lineup on the .25 contest just to see what happens. Not a bad idea for the future if you get a good DEF match-up.

  • therazor30

Are we expecting Lamar Jackson to get some playing time? If he is going to get to play close to a half I would go all in on him.

  • windsorpg

Should I be fading an 80% owned LJ tomorrow?

    Expected to play a quarter

When does the preseason content come out? They’ve mentioned they would have audio, tiers, blurbs, lineup hq, etc…. but I’ve seen nothing besides the preseason articles.

Any time that Tyler Bray is going against you, it’s a good DEF match-up

Ravens fan here. I would play RG3 instead. He is fighting for a roster spot and will probably play at least a half, if not more. I think you lock him into your 1.5pt spot and then play Jackson and Daniel in the regular point spots. The other 3 spots are a crapshoot.

Mark Thompson and De’Lance Turner will probably get the bulk the RB duties. Perriman is an interesting WR target, he’s another guy fighting for a roster spot and will probably be showcased to salvage their bust of a 1st round pick a few years ago.

PREDICTION #1: BAL wins straight up (80% confidence)

This has several implications. First, BAL should score more points than CHI. That’s helpful across all positions. It does not necessarily mean that they will run more offensive plays, but if they do, the upside for the size of the play differential is much greater.

I’d also expect a disproportionate amount of rushing instead of passing, even relative to Hall of Fame norms (ballpark 55% rushing to 45% passing).

Implied task: Shade toward the BAL side of the ball. That’s where Vegas is, and probably most of the informed public, but the Ravens aren’t exactly America’s Team. With limited entries I’m disinclined to roster more than one CHI player at a time, two tops.

PREDICTION #2: No more than three total RB/WR/TE players score double-digit DKFP (75% confidence)

Total double-digit RB/WR/TE players combined in the last four HoF games: 3, 2, 3, 5. Double-digit DKFP puts a player from those games in the 88th percentile—just shy of 1-in-10 odds. Margins for these players are razor thin when you’ve got to score all of your points on a measly 3 targets, or 9 carries and 0 targets. None of them have respectable floors.

QB, DST, and K have all been more reliable positions in these ultra-early games. After all, CHI literally has three QBs on their roster and Trubisky may not even dress. I’d be shocked if he played more than one series (my expectation is zero). Ergo, Tyler Bray and Chase Daniel will combine for four glorious quarters of near-zero-rushing fantasy goodness.

BAL is likely to split the work between all three backups, but I’d set expectations around 1.75 quarters for Robert Griffin (who’s pretty good at rushing), 1.25 quarters for Lamar Jackson (also kinda good at rushing), and 1 quarter for Josh Woodrum.

Note that unless I’ve totally lost the plot, Jackson is the chalk. I don’t think he projects significantly better than RGIII on a per-snap basis, so if you agree that RGIII is likely to get more work, I think he’s the better play. He could straight up outscore Jackson easily and should have lower ownership. Great opportunity to leverage him with your 1.5x MVP slot even if you roster Jackson as well.

At DST, you’ll already know I’m backing BAL over CHI. Don’t kid yourself into thinking a return TD is anything more than vanishingly unlikely, but I’m as curious as anybody to see what Harbaugh tries with the new kickoff rules.

Kicker is fairly straightforward. Kaare Vedvik (who isn’t in DK’s player pool—perhaps because he’s rostered as a punter) is expected to kick and punt for BAL, leaving Justin Tucker with an unpredictable workload. Cody Parkey faces no competition in CHI and he would be my preference.

Implied task: Stacking more than three RB/WR/TEs is contraindicated. QB/DST/K all offer higher floor and comparable upside (the highest DKFP from RB/WR/TE in the past four HoF games is 15.1). The odds of hitting on RB/WR/TE with your 1.5x slot are also low. I would stick to a QB unless I was swinging for the fences in a GPP.

    QUESTION: Rank the following players

These are the six RB/WR/TEs I find myself landing on. Differentiating between them is more difficult. What’s your take?

  • AVivier

With such a low O/U and split time with large rosters, I’m going a lot DST/DST/K on the same rosters, which has to be the most boring way to open up the season. Let’s get this game over with!

  • PookieMan69

Gus Edwards has been getting a decent amount of run in training camp with Dixon absent. It wouldn’t surprise me if he leads that backfield in snaps tonight

Plus 3 QB’s. Very boring—- but probably the safest floor.

    CG,

Great thoughts. I figure ill share mine as well. Im not a great writer so bear with me.

QB- Though we are not required to play one I think we need to because of the expected floors. As far as Baltimore you said it. RG3 will get the most time followed by Jackson and Woodrum. RG3 and Jacksons rushing with be huge here. I remember a preseason game much like this that Tyrod Taylor (for baltimore) broke of a 60yrd run and pretty much won the day. Both of these guys can do that. Jackson being chalk is interesting because normally 1 quarter of a rookie QB in his first appearance doesnt interest me, but if he breaks that big run you will need him. If not he might be the best fade on the board. The Bears QB situation is interesting to me because I doubt they use Trubisky, and what is really the point of extended time for Daniel. He is going to be their backup and I doubt they want to risk him to much either. That leaves Bray. I honestly wouldnt be shocked if he plays 3 Quarters. I know he is bad but playing time is generally what we are going for in preseason. My rankings: Bray, RG3, Jackson

RB- Baltimore will likely not play Dixon, Allen, or Collins. That leaves Edwards, Thompson and Turner. Everything you read would say Thompson. I think Turner has more big play potential. For the bears we wont see much if any of Howard, Cohen. This leaves Veteran Benny Cunningham, Mizzell, and Ryan Nall. Nall is a big bruiser with no speed. Probably more of a goal line back. Mizzell has some talent in more of the Cohen mold. My Rankings: Mizzell, Turner, Thompson, Nall

WR- Baltimore will likely play little of Snead, Crabtree, and Brown. Chris Moore is also injured. Perriman is playing for a roster spot so he is interesting but I somewhat doubt we see his big playing time in this game. Posey is coming back from the CFL and is a decent talent. Also the rookies Tim White, Jordan Lasley, and Jaleel Scott are interesting. They also have three other WRs on the roster. A lot of bodies here. For Chicago Kevin White is much like Perriman where he needs a big showing in the preseason but again I doubt we see it here. Miller and Wims are good young players. They have 7 more Wrs on the roster none of which I have much interest in. My rankings: Wims, Tim White, Lasley, Miller, Scott, Perriman

TE- I dont have much interest playing a TE in this format. For Baltimore Andrews will probably not play and then they have a bunch of other guys who will probably split the game. For chicago I doubt we will see much if any of Burton. Sims is a veteran Blocking TE and I doubt we see much of him. Shaheen is interesting but I doubt I will play him. My rankings: Shaheen

K- Ravens have two kickers on the roster, one which we cant play. I think fading Tucker could be a good thing if he doesnt kick because he will be highly owned and could be a 0 for all those lineups. I will probably take that risk being that a Kickers ceiling is around 8 points. For Chicago Parkey is the only kicker making him a play. My ranking- Parkey, Tucker

DST- Ravens obviously have more talent and are playing a worse team. I will probably roster them in every lineup I dont play Bray. They also have some guys with return potential in Turner, White, and Lasley. Chicago is interesting to me because I dont think Griffin is a great passer, and Jackson is a rookie. A bad game from those two QB’s could lead to a great game from the bears defense. I see it as a leverage play. My rankings- Even.

My big question on this slate is how many QBs are to many. Also if anyone sees more news on receivers being out please share.

I’m playing Smoke Mizzell. Hes from my city…playing close to home, former team and caught like 100 balls a season at UVA.

Edit….correction 195 career catches at UVA. Still a lot

  • PaperStacking92

Is it bad to play both defenses I mean all signs point to it being a run low score maybe turnoverish game from both sides

I was surprise that Nall was not drafted. He is a bruising back with speed and good hands out of the back field. Kinda like Mike Alsott.
