Honestly, this is all pretty simple and we already know who is playing and for how long. They already had a sim game on Sun and Mon. Each day was a half of a game. Just look at those and subtract the Matt Ryan playing time and Free as well, no Julio or Ridley and other guys who are actually starters.

Do you have a link to coverage of player time in those practices?

There are tweets online that show play by play and who caught what.

    Best guess:

    1) Devontae Jackson
    2) Khalfani Muhammad
    3) David Williams
    4) Devontae Booker

I’m not sure if Booker makes the team even if he’s not traded, so he’s not out of the question on getting carries. Hopefully that’s cleared up before game time, but I doubt it. Jackson has the most camp hype to him. Jackson and Muhammad are more of the Lindsay type and Williams is more of the Freeman type. It’s a bit of a crapshoot to me.

I may stumble across something tomorrow, but so far I don’t like anybody from the RBs on these teams. Lots of bodies with no good way to narrow the field. It’s gonna be hard for any of these guys to get into that 5+ DKFP baller zone without a TD or at least a couple catches that I can’t confidently project.

My Twitter lists for Falcons and Broncos coverage have been checked and expanded. Go forth and learn things.

Everything I’ve read points towards Denver passing to RBs and TEs during practice. I’m adding Austin Fort to my player pool.

So the new Broncos OC, Rich Scangerello, has an interesting resume: he was QB coach for the 49ers under Kyle Shanahan in 2017 and 2018, and was the Offensive Quality Control Coach for the Falcons in 2015 (also under Shanahan).

We’ve heard Scangarello talk about how Lindsay/Freeman remind him of Freeman/Coleman from the Falcons. We also know how much the SF backfield was split in 2017-18 (both years averaging over 4 YPC). The run game is going to play a big factor this season, and I think that we see them try to focus on it this preseason.

We also know that injuries have limited the Broncos pass-catchers going into the HOF game. When we remove the starters (besides Fant) and players recovering from injury, it thins the skill position players a bit more.

So it’s Devontae Booker, Khalfani Muhammad, Devontae Jackson, and David Williams at RB.

As mentioned before, Muhammed and Jackson are both sub-200 lbs 5’7” players, so it seems like their usage tomorrow would be less on first and second downs and more as receiving backs. Of those two, however, Devontae Jackson stands out athletically with a 73rd percetile SPARQ-x score (https://www.playerprofiler.com/nfl/devontae-jackson/) and 3 of 4 season of over 1000 yards rushing (https://herosports.com/colleges/team-player-stats/devontae-jackson).

Booker and Williams both have the size that better fits a profile of 1/2 down carries. However, Booker also has the receiving upside, with an average of 3 targets a game in his last 3 years as a bronco.

tl;dr: the RB situation as a whole is messy, but I think that the Devontae’s (Booker and Jackson) stand out.

Does anyone have an idea of how much Noah Fant will play? I keep hearing about Austin Fort in camp but if they have a similar playing time then Fants my guy.

I think there’s a decent chance Fant sees run with both Hogan and Lock. More speculation than anything, but that’s the feel I get from following my team’s camp.

  • CleverGroom

I’m in on Fant, Fort, and Jackson. The other DEN RBs are still a little thin to me, but I think I’m landing on Jackson > Muhammad = Booker > Williams. Still going to take a shot at Qadree Ollison as well; not as sure about any of the other ATL backs. Nick Williams and Kelvin McKnight are the Broncos WRs who’re speaking to me so far.

Thanks for sharing the Twitter team lists CG.

Any thoughts on the possibility of them giving Booker a bigger run than expected to possibly showcase him for a trade? They brought in Riddick for a visit, and this coaching staff doesn’t seem to love him as the previous one did. Maybe they play him more to see if he’s worth keeping around or cut bait early on.

    You bet!

I can see showcasing Booker a bit. Thing is that I’m not sure you’d play him at all otherwise, so to me it’s not like that gives him a particularly good PT projection. I just think it’s possible he plays as much as anybody else—maybe even starts with Hogan and DEN’s starting C, LG, and LT (Fangio has said these OL will play “a few snaps”). That’s another wash for me, since Hogan’s a scrambler who’s less likely to target a RB.

  • bgramza8

Yeah, I agree on Booker. Guy is trying to prove his value and beat out the rookies. Dude can catch and can certainly outrun a 2nd string defense. Hopefully he sees 7-10 high quality touches with a look in the Red Zone. I doubt Booker has a trade market though. Guys like Carlos Hyde go for late round picks and a team could pick up a similar quality RB from the waiver wire after the cut to 53.

Put up the game already DK!

    Some News and Notes:

    - Both teams only have 1 kicker

    - Falcons only have 3 QBs, and two of them have plenty of NFL experience. Kurt Benkert is pbly playing most of this one.

    - Denver WRs DaeSean Hamilton and River Cracraft are unlikely to play. As is Emmanuel Sanders.

    - Broncos have 4 QBs, and while Flacco may not play, the other 3 could all split snaps.

I think the top note here is the key, I’ve been looking through twitter and various sites with rosters and I’m not seeing any mentions of any other kickers besides Travecchio and Mcmanus. Is anyone else seeing anything about any extra camp kickers? If this proves to be true or at least as far as we can tell going into kickoff than I’m just going to lock them both in (I guess if I was doing 150 lineups I wouldn’t lock them) but in SE, cash, 3 max, and maybe even 20 max.

It’s true. DK has Bosher and Wadman available as Ks, but they’re avowed punters.

After studying the last seven HoF games, I wouldn’t play more than one of them in GPP, and I wouldn’t play him as CPT. K was the least likely position to appear in an optimal LU in those seven games.

Just out of curiosity how many of those games did the teams only have 1 kicker? Also I’m thinking for cash it is still probably the better play to go with both right?

3 pages! Hell yeah! Gimme all the backup QBs for $3 baby!

Happy football to you and yours fellow grinders. May all your parlays be good parlays and your first cash be a masculine cash!

I want both defense…two QBs and two RBs.

The RBs are tough….I’m looking at Qadree Ollison and then having a hard time with deciding on a Broncos running back. I wonder if Williams is the way to go running out the 4th quarter against 4th stringers.

Theo Riddick signs w/ the Broncos.

Maybe maybe not. He’s still going to be far lower owned than he should be.
