Aaaahhh, the degenerate within us, playing the Showdown in the Pro Bowl. As if watching it wasn’t bad enough. However, there’s money to be made. My take:

I’m avoiding QBs and RBs, as unless the QB throws for multiple TDs and the RB runs for multiple TDs they won’t get you points. You don’t get points for throws or runs and you won’t get many of those from each. TEs, young WRs, and even DST will be where I’m looking. DST you say? It’s a careless game, there are Hail Marys intercepted, fumbles, and a few sacks. Leaning George Kittle for Captain, but I like Tyreke and JuJu too.

I was hoping nobody would start a thread on this because you can make good money. LOL. Only 9000 entries so far although I am sure it will fill late. Above strategy is definitely sound. I will avoid anyone that just got eliminated last week though, they are still feeling the effects of the loss both mentally and physically. I could be wrong, but I will lean that way.

How do you even bet on this, there’s no strategy it’s just a popularity contest.. Oh wait ok i’m in!

The scores in the pro bowl used to be insane, comparable to what you used to see in the NBA all star game. 60-100 pts. I got a feeling that the last 2 years were an anomaly rather then a new norm. You got to figure that the best Offensive season in history should translate to more points in this game. I think you just stack WR’s and TE’s and maybe 1 QB. Also think it’s a good game to just have your wife or daughter or dog pick a couple players for you with the help of your horoscope.

I would saying playing this game confirms you have a gambling problem but most of us knew that before the post season.

I definitely may be a degenerate but I have also profited on the pro bowl in recent years.

I can’t remember if it was last year or two years ago but my Kyle Juszyczk call paid off huge and I also had a bunch of the NFC D last year who had 3 picks with a pick-six.

I’m leaning to it being more offensive again this year as well – I like 3 QBs that I’ll mix in including Wilson, Watson and Mahomes – while Mahomes scares me given the loss last week, his game fits the old typical Pro Bowl shootout best. I’m staying away mostly from Trubisky, Luck and Dak as they probably threw a lot less “over 20yd ADOT” passes from my eye test this past season. If I get a chance I’ll confirm that but I do like my 3QBs over the other 3 for deep ball accuracy too.

I’m only playing the 5 dollar tournament so I’m a partial degenerate.

Saquan might be the only RB I take. 1) he’s a rookie and will see more of the field and 2) might get 8 carries but 4 catches as well for a couple of TDs. Maybe even throw for a TD.

I asked my wife to pick my lineup for me for the game. She picked based upon how angry they looked and eliminated people based off of how stuck up they looked. Also, cool sounding names. So, if I win anything tomorrow, it’s due to her.

I see Fanduel has all the players in, even the ones who declined to play. Might be a little edge

Figured she might have a better shot than I do considering this game is basically a crapshoot. I over think things. She’s like “he has a beard, play him.” Or “what’s a TE?” Or “he looks happy, pick him.” Here I am coming through stats…

  • aylsg

Love trying to crack this slate. Yahoo seems to have the traditional 2-gamer so any love for either Pro Bowl DEF? All six PB QBs seem mobile (yes, even Luck) while all six also seem turnover prone (yes, even Mahomes). Or is a Super Bowl DEF the better choice?

  • superjon

With the way the pricing is on FD, I don’t see how you don’t play at least 2 QB’s. Unless you’re one of those people that believes in leaving a bunch of money on the table.

If you don’t know why this is a bad idea I’m not going to bother explaining. Each team has three QBs. Passing TDs are only worth 4 points instead of 6. Also passing yards are only .025 instead of .1. So you get reduced points for stats on a player that will see less snaps than just about any WR/TE.

I’m honestly hoping the masses are using the QBs. The only way I would touch a QB is if I thought someone like Russell Wilson might snag a rushing TD.

Do special teams guys ever get any run? I feel like Cohen is a perfect fit for a game like this.

Pretty much everyone that shows up gets in the game. In the past, Darren Sproles has made it as a KR/PR and ended up being one of the better plays at RB

  • hautalak

Woah! Lots of salary left on the table. Trying to pick the PPR CPT it seems like. Taking those TE TDs though. RB seems tough actually. And Yahoo who knows there?!

I’m sad that I’m $500 short of fitting in Brees, Julio, Brown, Thomas and Ertz. That would have been the best zero point lineup anyone has ever made.

On a positive note, can swap Brees for Kelce and still nail that zero.

I wouldn’t be too sure about that bro they’re making millions of dollars and they’re about to be making more after they made it to the game before the super bowl. They don’t care that they lost anymore.

Rotating Hill/Kittle/Cooper/JuJu/Evans/Cook/Thielen/both DSTs in all the LUs I can. Maybe throw Barkley in a few

Great article to read to help setup your LU. I’m on Trubisky now instead of Holmes and reducing my Hill exposure
