. In fact, I think I might be upset rather than happy if a 50/50 LU scores like 230 and could’ve won big in a GPP

If I remember correctly one of Jon Bales “10 Laws” is to always toss your cash lineup(s) into a GPP or three.

  • Ardy

I usually play 75% 50-50’s and 25% GPP’s. This is my first season playing and started with a $55 bank. I’ve worked it up to $575 and had fun along the way. I only got into it when ESPN cancelled Gridiron Challenge which I played for 17 years. I don’t feel confident enough in my skills to risk anymore than 20% of my bankroll each week, but I’ve only had 3 losing weeks out of the 12.

basically, cash games in NFL are only fun if you really really go all in with like 10K, and try to double that into 20K, cuz whether you are in a GPP or a cash game, 10K is a ton of money. Doubling up $500 is boring i agree. And also, god forbid you have ONE injury and your cash game lineup that you put 10K into crashes and burns, you are left feeling hopeless and angry – and that can mostly be avoided in multi entry GPPs since you have a diversity of players across your lineups.

That makes a lot of sense. I have never read the 10 Laws, could you provide a link? I’m definitely still a newb at this. First season of any kind of fantasy football.

yea, that pretty much sums up my thoughts as well. I had plenty of lineups that were ruined yesterday because of exposure to Hopkins, Julio, etc; but I also diversify my lineups enough (I never have more than 25% exposure to one player) that I had plenty of lineups that did well enough to make up for those bad lineups.

I don’t know if they are available online (there are more than 10, its like 10 for each area he discusses like LU construction, BR management…) they are in his books. I think you might still be able to get a couple for free from amazon. They have a free kindle app (versions for any device or pc you don’t need a kindle)

Here is one and if you click his name in the listing you’ll go to his author page with his other books/guides listed.

Anyone have FD ownership numbers for the BAL/CLE players tonight?

Edit: Particularly asking for ownership levels on the primetime 2 game slate…

Here’s the thing with “cash games”. For me I find it hard to get excited about doubling my money. In fact, I think I might be upset rather than happy if a 50/50 LU scores like 230 and could’ve won big in a GPP. I’m not concerned with the entry fees – to me everything on one of the DFS sites is already “sunk cost”. I will cash out again if I hit another decent payout, but mostly this is entertainment until the NFL season ends. Nobody dreams of doubling a $500 or $1000 investment. They dream of 5 to 6 figure scores. So I agree with thehazyone, I’d rather enter a bunch in the GPPs and hope for 1 big score versus trying to grind out a profit. Of course if I had the skill of thehazyone, I could probably afford to do more of both! lol

then dont play the game. go to the horse track. go to the casino. play your game because this one isnt for you. You dont like anything about this game. You hate the investment, you hate the time, you hate the lineup construction, you hate the waiting, you hate reading, you hate the time invested. You envy those who are ahead of you, those who do all the things it takes in this game. You play it like gambling and thats why you will never be happy. This site and this game isnt about the things you are looking for. We are all friends and family here, win or lose and thats how it will stay. You want to come in and see 32 teams a week give back to you for the nothing you have given them. Sorry its ‘Hard” and “not worth your investment” good. Let the players play. If you want to join and have fun with us, we are here with open arms and help to make your lineups better with opinions and links. If thats not for you, then sorry, try something else. We wont be thinking of you the next time the pick you couldve made wins the million. You want more? Work more like the rest of us. Create your system, Research whats in your brain and put more money in if you are that confident. We are all here to help you as long as you try. But once youre in it to forget it…

lol for reals? obviously the percentages will be different in a 2 game slate (which noone knows yet unless you are an employee of fanduel or draftkings etc…) than the big thursday- sunday GPP’S …. way different. C’mon Man!

Was this intended for me – I assume so because I’m quoted? It’s so inaccurate when it comes to me that it appears you’ve never read anything I’ve ever posted?

I love everything about this including the research.

No offense but this rant is ridiculous if you’ve read anything I’ve posted.

no not you sorry. by the time i got to you i clicked the wrong quote. I am sorry for that. I know that you are much more than the people i directed what i wrote too. it still might be ridiculous to them as well, but I am sorry for quoting you wrongly. My fault and ill take the blame.

No worries thanks. I like the helpful posts and I never feed the trolls and I cheer for all the RGers to do well. Good luck tonight and in Week 13.

From my entries, I see a ton on CLE defense, TE and Bal RB. I’m guessing lower on Benji for CLE.

kinda sorta maybe but how do you know it’s baltimore rb and cleveland TE?

Love all the posts in the past couple pages. This is all about having fun. Of course you’re going to lose the majority. I’m currently addicted to the 25 cent entries. They are a pain but exciting to make all sorts of different lineups. I probably put up $75 a week and play a number of double ups just to make sure I don’t crash.

This is actually my first year of doing it. Wondering at what week does everything crash because the locks start pulling their studs or if that’s just the last two weeks. And I can only assume there’s games during playoffs as well?

how does playing double ups help you not crash? Double ups are not easy guaranteed money. One can lose their GPPs and lose their double ups too for a double loss, so I personally have stopped using double ups as a way to “hedge” GPP, cuz in the end, double ups can add to the losses instead of breaking you even.

I usually do $2 double ups. Even number of entered. Usually doing early only. Sunday only and so on. And usually end up breaking even in the long run. It’s hard for me to just make a couple line ups. I usually start entering contests on Wednesday. Do a number without research and just gut. Then more on Friday after some research. And the rest late Saturday or Sunday morning with the injuries and latest news. Always like to have some lineups that take out players who may not play. Even if it hurts in the end

beating 50% of the pool is easier than 90%

Be confident in your lineup(s). We all lose. So does Tom Brady. But if you are confident in the skill and lineup and strategy..Play.

I’ll do my best to answer this retort nicely…
Normally, I regularly enter the SNF/MNF Primetime 2 game slate myself and use those ownership percentages to help figure out which players will be overowned/underowned for the MNF game on the MNF/TNF 2 game slate.
So, all of that said, anyone interested in helping me out?

  • dakotahwithanh

Sunday Monday you can see based on the Sunday Schedule locked in, Thursday you can look at how the player did the week before and adjust. if that player did well, expect high ownership, if that player did poorly expect lower ownership.
