NHL FORUM

Does anyone on here use fantasy labs for NHL? If so, what is the highest plus minus you have constructed in a model for skaters on DK? I really want to get as close to a 1 as possible. I can’t seem to get past 0.6

Wait! FantasyLabs actually has a model for NHL!?

Yeah it’s rather new. Like a week old. I believe it only has DraftKings and Fanduel Models at this point

Isn’t R2 of model more important than +-?

    R2?

I just asked support they said R2 and – are both equally as important. For instance if you have a model with high +- but poor accuracy which r2 tests for then you have a useless model. Likewise if you have a model that is very accurate but with a low +- then its not helpful. So to see R2 just double click the +-. You want as close to 100% as possible currently my model has 1.8- and .9936 accuracy for fd and for dk its .7 and .9956

I was unaware of the R2, Thanks a ton. I would still like to get a +/- as close to 1 as possible, I have gotten upto a .8. I think Fantasy Labs should have a members only forum, would be awesome to talk to other users. I love my NBA model and been very happy with my results so far.

I don’t suppose you’d care to share you nba model settings? I’ve messed around with models but Pham model has always outperformed what I’ve come up with :(. And lately that model has been a mess

So i got mine set to as +1.3 and rs at .943…should i try and get the + down a little and rs up?

  • YoungFischer

R-squared values that high means they are likely using the same data to train/test the model and/or over-fitting the model with too many parameters. The model’s out-of-sample predictive power will be worthless.

So once you get a model that you like do you all just click optimize and go with it or do you click optimize and tweak it? Maybe remove someone who looks terrible?

  • Codith

    Has this worked?

I use it and I can honestly say I haven’t actually played a line-up with the optimizer yet. (Perhaps I should!) Obviously, with it being math/algorithm based, the optimizer fails to account for game-theory, and real-life events, such as hot/cold streaks, etc. I love using the model, but only really use it a piece in the process.

Dont use FL if you like money

  • Yahoo302

I should say FL models. The trend tool is actually usefull
