A question for all hockey grinders and possibly Fanduel more specifically – Anyone know if FD is gonna run their King of the Ice main event this year? If you recall there were a few $2 sattys daily for a good month or two leading up to the main event. I thought it was pretty fun last year and was hoping to do it again. The only way you could get in is to win the sattys. No buyin.

Anyone have any inside info as to if FD is planning on doing this again? Last year the pot was $250K.

  • dude_abides7

Well….it looks like FD has got the KOTI sattys going. Bad news is they may have lessened the value of the tix from last year.

Last Year – 3 tix per contest @ 344 entries.

    Now – 1 tix per contest @ 172

EDIT: This is because of the change in value from $200 tix value to $300. Not sure if that $100 is going to more rake in the Final event or less entries.

    The contest is still $250K

  • dude_abides7

Good God! And they set the max entry to 25 for a contest with 172 entries.

    Approx 15%

Thanks for catering once again to sheer volume players FD. Much appreciated.

I’m guessing the 25 max entry was a mistake. If not, well, thats just about the dumbest thing I’ve seen done by a DFS site. Recently, that is.

Dumbest – There’s always tomorrow. Don’t sell them short.

To do this in a qualifier, where the money stays in the house pot is an absolute joke.

  • dude_abides7

OK…so I guess they are going with less entries in the Main Event (or just increasing rake) but the value of the tix is now $300 as supposed to $200. So this changes the tix breakdown somewhat, but still produces a smidgen more rake for FD.

The 25 entry per 172 is still nonsense.

If you pay attention to this year’s NHL product, this is neither a mistake nor surprising.

It’s been an absolute travesty to see what FD has done to their NHL product; from the smaller prize pools, to the player positions and the entry limits, it has been a joke to say the least. Im not a high volume player by any means but I am slowly shifting all my NHL action over to DK. I love the interface and gameplay on FD, but the actual tournies there are horrendous now. It’s sad to see them give zero craps about NHL.

@mberkowi- great night yesterday, so close to binking that live final Q.

Thanks. I had a good sweat. Really thought I had a chance to take it down.

It really is sad. 25 entries for 172 man contest is just disgusting. I’m sure they’ll say they just wanted to make sure the contest filled…it being the first day and all. Both $2 sattys were filled by 1-2pm. FAIL

Actually, this is something I’ve noticed for a few different sports, but especially when it comes to the NHL this year on FD. Even when they have been having the Super Monsters, the entry limit is like 30 I believe, out of only 400-500 entries. Last week’s Monster was full by like by 11 am. The last two Super Monsters actually have filled up rather quickly, and that’s probably because it’s one of the few times that the prize pool has actually been large that people are wanting to play.

Even yesterday’s NBA Super Baller, I think the entry limit was 25…..out of only 300! Again, unlike the NHL, you know the NBA contests are going to fill, and again, that filled super early. I think it’s absolutely silly. In that sense, I like how DK has reduced entry limits on their contests. They did their big NHL one a few weeks ago, and I think the limit was 15…but out of 550+ entries…still high, but definitely better than FD’s entry limits.

Agreed…with the Baller or any other $1000+ contest I can understand FD maybe worrying that there isn’t enough guys playing $1000+ contests and they need it to fill.

But a $2 Satty needing to be at 15%? Give me a break. It is not even a cash take contest. It’s for a tix that most people will be giving back the value to FD in April at the Main Event. No excuses, FD is a joke.

Naturally, the guy with 50 out of 344 possible entries took down both $2 sattys last night. What a shocker.

Tonight the Max is 10 entries, so clearly the 25 was an oversight, enough people bitched or FD was simply throwing a bone to the high volume crowd.

So there is a guy with a 10 team train winning the KOTI satty tix today for a contest that only gives out 1 tix and no cash. LOL.

Where do these people come from?

Didn’t check the link but pretty sure that was me. Entered the line ups on Friday or Saturday and didn’t have time to edit. I come from Nebraska… We got a lot of snow and had to snow blow

    “Wow….that’s a bummer man.”

Sorry to hear that. Did the LU cash anywhere?

I mean, I feel your plight. We got 2 feet here in the Northeast 2 weeks ago. That said, it is super easy to void/cancel your contests if you feel you are gonna be time strapped. Hopefully that LU treated you well and you didn’t get hosed across the board.

Yeah it wasn’t as bad as what the Northeast got but still a pain. Had a few in the 10k survivor that made it to the next round.
