Hello Grinders! And welcome to the 2017-18 National Hockey League season.

This season we are showcasing out best NHL content yet, with our amazing lineupHQ tool leading the way. This is pretty much your one stop shop for everything NHL. However, we did not stop there. Back from last season we have the Grind Down, player projections, consensus value rankings, Grinders Live shows (Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday), and the advanced analytics article (every Tuesday and Thursday).

New this year: aside from our terrific lineupHQ tool (more on that below), we have the very popular Expert Survey (every Tuesday and Thursday), as well as a daily article on Core Plays.

Lineup Headquarters: This is the first time the everyday player will have immediate access to knowledge, tools, information, and sophistication that makes it easy for them to compete across all levels of daily fantasy sports.

Want to compete with the sharks?

    LineupHQ is the key!

    What is LineupHQ?

LineupHQ will become your one-stop solution to the challenge of daily fantasy sports – the challenge of researching across twenty different sites, of toggling multiple tabs all day long, and of trying to keep track of all the information you have accumulated throughout the day. With the launch of LineupHQ, everything you need will be on one single page: your headquarters for building your lineups every day!

Most of you are familiar with our Lineup Builder tool (which has grown in strength and capabilities over the last two years to a point where it can challenge the offerings from any other site – all while remaining a free part of the RotoGrinders experience!). But with LineupHQ, this tool will become your command center for each day of DFS work. Want to pull up Pepsi7’s Core Plays article? You’ll be able to click the article on a sidebar of LineupHQ, and it will open on that same page! Without ever leaving Lineup Builder, you can research many things and keep building lineups. Want to access “Consensus Value Rankings” Easy! Click on that tool, and it will open on the LineupHQ page – allowing you to quickly conduct your research while fluidly building your lineups.

This is truly a new era of DFS – an era of advanced sophistication available to all players, where you can build one lineup or one hundred lineups with ease, using a suite of tools that are unrivaled in the industry…all without leaving a single page.

What does this mean for RotoGrinders Premium?

While all RotoGrinders users will have access to LineupHQ, these are some of the offerings that only RotoGrinders Premium subscribers will have available to them on the LineupHQ page:

Consensus Value Rankings – The Classic returns! Point-per-dollar rankings from RG analysts and contributors

Player Projections – Daily projections from the best NHL minds out there

Expert Survey – Our analysts answer slate-specific questions to provide a glimpse inside the mind of top DFS players Tuesday and Thursday only

Grind Down – In-depth, game-by-game breakdown. Note: The Grind Down will feature some free content daily, however, you can only read the entire Grind Down through our premium package.

Core Plays article – Featuring the top foundational options for all formats that evening

Premium Chat – Each week day, Pepsi7 will spend an hour in chat, answering all of your DFS hocky questions

Advanced Analytics article – Every Tuesday and Thursday, JayWilly and company will break down the slate using advanced NHL statistics, helping you gain a huge edge on the field in the process

Premium Player Pool Filters: Each day, three of our top NHL minds will share their favorite plays on the night – in three specific categories:

“Core Plays” – the top foundational options for all formats

“GPP specific” plays – a curated list loaded with upside options and contrarian pivots

“Salary Savers” – the plays he is starting with from a “bottom-to-top” roster building approach

Each day, some of the top NHL minds in the industry will also write up centers, wingers, defensemen and goalies that fill a variety of lineup-building needs. Premium subscribers will be able to find all of this information in LineupHQ – both in a curated format (want to see what all our experts think of the viable goalie options that day? – you’ll be able to quickly find this in one spot!), and individual player profiles on LineupHQ (want to know what our analysts think of Auston Matthews on opening night? – you’ll be able to hover over his name in LineupHQ and find that information!).

Truly – from start to finish of this NHL season – it does not get any better than RotoGrinders Premium.

And pricing, incredibly, remains ridiculously low! – for access to ALL sports (NFL, MLB, NBA, PGA, and NHL), you pay only $29.95 per month! We are also running a special limited offer: $250.00 for a 12-month subscription (a savings of over $100!). If you are strictly looking for NHL premium content throughout the regular season, it can be yours for $125.00.

The Grind Down is now a premium feature? This is a big change. Why choose NHL of all sports? Is the NFL Grind Down watered down for non-premium members?

  • Schmo4

Horrific change if the Grind Down is now behind a paywall. NHL contests are already thin, sites should be encouraging beginners with information free to the public

  • SA16

    Very exciting stuff

Well I guess with the Grind Down being behind the pay wall it will be easier to make “my” own decisions. I still think this is a bad decision if we want to grow NHL DFS like others have said.

  • pootnami

    Pepsi,

What’s the reason for this? Why isn’t NFL behind a paywall?

  • Cutnutz35

The stats for Hockey in Lineup HQ are garbage!! Tell me there is more to come..

nhl is missing so much this is bs

I love that the NHL content on this site and pretty much all sites is laughable.

  • nmigliore

I find the NHL content on RG to pretty lacking, as it is in most other places, although I did find Ben’s first GD to be pretty informative. But I agree with the others, my first thought was “how is this of all sports behind a pay wall” .. really don’t understand it. This will not help grow the NHL DFS community.

  • pootnami

Not sure what’s happening to RG these days.

Sorry for the delay guys, I am certainly not ignoring anyone. We are still working on several things behind the scenes and I will have answers shortly.

  • Ross

    Hey guys,

I will do my best to answer as many of the questions that I can and will have Pepsi stop in for the rest.

First, we will get an NHL button added the the header soon that will have direct links to articles and the rest of the content. In the meantime you can access NHL premium from our Research Tools page or by clicking here for DraftKings and here for FanDuel

I can understand why some of you are frustrated that the Grind Down is not a totally free article this season. I get it, it’s a big change, but I think once you see the article this season you will understand the time and effort involved in creating and writing it daily. The Grind Down posted now is 6500+ words for a four game slate breaking down each team individually. Unlike NFL, MLB, and NBA which have a main premium featured article that breaks down each slate daily, NHL has never had that. Improving and moving this article to premium will allow us to build a better NHL product going forward. We also feel the price of our premium subscriptions are an incredible value for our users.

LineupHQ for NHL is very new for us so the stats included can be modified as needed. If anyone has any feedback on this or specific stats they would like to see please let us know and we will do what we can to get them added. In addition to the premium filters we also plan on adding line stacking along with some other features in the near future. Again, if there is anything you would like to see added here let us know :)

Like all change I understand not everyone is going to happy, but I do hope you guys will at least give it a chance. We have a free trial available for all subscriptions and if you do not have a trial available please let me know by dm or email (ross@rotogrinders.com) and I will get you access so you can check out all of the content for opening night tomorrow.

    Grind Downs are premium now?

Theoretically, making our own decisions should be an advantage. Me taking the extra time to do the work, having to track down and analyze the information should work in my favor…but realistically I think it will promote negative growth, now I’d imagine we’ll see even more people plugging in lineups from optimizers/sellers, as people want to gamble without putting in any effort.

  • Tapouttazz99

where is the core players and the expert survey ?? its game day and nothing is up yet

Agreed on the first point but since hockey is my favorite sport I tend to lean more towards myself but admittedly still look at the Grind Down. It is definitely bad for growth. It’s not like people like hockey though unfortunately, so many wouldn’t play anyway. The ones that would give it a try before NBA starts are the ones hurting.

I have never used an optimizer so am not sure what they are like for hockey. As far as lineup selling goes, you think it will find its way into NHL? I know it’s already easy to spot with baseball but would imagine hockey would be even easier to spot if it happened.

My only hope is that hockey contest prizes can remain “good” but am not hopeful. Just glad to have it back and GL tonight!

  • k_bone94

So, there’s basically no free NHL content at all now?

  • Tapouttazz99

Its opining night and there is no expert survey…no core players nothing is done ??? this would never fly with any other sport

Agree with this…Actually went to go check out the Grind Down article to give hockey a try tonight, but now you have to pay for it…don’t know anything about hockey so will not be putting any lineups in without any kind of knowledge and for sure won’t be spending money on research

  • eaglezzz

Love that all the NHL content is behind a paywall now. I don’t subscribe but do my own research and now all the people dabbling in NHL will have to make their own guesses.

It’s unfortunate because I would like hockey to grow. It really is something anybody can do if you know the least bit of strategy. Like has been said before everybody’s floor is 0 in hockey.

In regards to all the people complaining that less free NHL content discourages dfs player growth, RG is not responsible for getting more people to play NHL.

It’s in their best financial interest though, isn’t it?

was disappointed to see no free content, but the writers totally deserve to get paid for their work. Ive read jmbwngfn’s articles for a couple of years and they are always good
