Update: This thread was written before the NY Attorney general sent cease and desist in NY letters to Fanduel and DraftKings.

Following post made before NY news broke

    Hey Grinders,

The battle to keep DFS fully legal is still going on in some states, and obviously New York is an important one. Attorney General Eric Schneiderman is considering preventing New Yorkers from playing daily fantasy sports. There are over 500,000 daily fantasy players in the state of New York and AG Schneiderman would like to put in place restrictive measures that prevent your ability to play. It’s time for our community to come together and stand up against these unreasonable efforts.

If you live in New York, you can help now. Make sure AG Eric Schneiderman hears from you. Tell him you support daily fantasy sports for all in New York state. Daily fantasy sports is fun, entertaining and a game of skill. NY has bigger challenges than fantasy football.

Please contact the Attorney General Eric Schneiderman via phone, email, etc. at the details below, and visit this URL to petition

Can’t miss that big hand..I’ve seen fights at 3 card poker table cuz someone left or joined table and stole their 3 of a kind or straight flush..could have just as easily got one for same reason..

He’s not “considering” preventing it. He issued a cease-and-desist order. It’s done – he already considered it. No more DFS in New York, unless they successfully challenge it in court.

Tom, this thread was written before the letter was sent when rumors were swirling. He put in an update at the top of his thread.

So they’re banning DFS and raising minimum wage to $15/hour? Brilliant.

    Statement from FanDuel

Even FD is calling out NY’s AG for self promotion. He’s doing this for himself… no way he’s got support behind him… it’s all political. Let’s just hope it blows up in his face.

Laughable…. Do you really think the Government is out for our best interests, or care about who won or lost money? Possibly someone in power has received more money/power for impending legislation. It is an election season, and all trails lead to money interests hurt or helped by DFS, plain and simple….Hope money/influence on our side can compete.

“gambling operations, DraftKings’ own numbers reveal a far different reality. In practice, DFS is far closer to poker in this respect: a small number of professional gamblers profit at the expense of casual players. To date, our investigation has shown that the top one percent of DraftKings’ winners receive the vast majority of the winnings. “

This was the obvious outcome once the story went national. Only people who didn’t see this coming were the touts and people at the sites who had a financial stake in it.

Draftking is not run like a corporation. They should have fired the guy who released the player ownership % the same day. Why didn’t major investors demand for his firing. Nothing makes sense.

I want to know what exactly FD and DK are doing to “fleece the sportsfans”.

  • MoMoney2

I find it funny how as soon as NY gets a ban the forum blows up with people expressing their support for DFS, however while us pee ons in Washington State have NEVER been able to play, no one gives a damn! You all complain about the problems of NY, but some of us have tried to justify with Senators about DFS in a State that thinks smoking pot is fine yet DFS is going to destroy this country. I wish you all good luck, because that is exactly what it is going to take. I can only hope that with enough people to battle this in NY that ultimately this will end in a nation wide win for DFS! You guys are all correct in what you are saying. How do States justify that we can lose our life’s savings in a card room, casino, race track, lottery, alcohol, drugs, tobacco, etc but watching games from my own home with my family while having $20 on them is somehow worse? I just don’t get it…..our country is in a sad, sad state!

    Good luck to all!

if the same people win how is that gambling?? it would mean that these people have developed a SKILL /stratergy to beat the ones who have not. To me that’s skill, I love the part about millionaire NY lotto has commercials about winning the lotto and our odds are 1 in 5 million but that’s not fleecing the public..

I’m sure this has been mentioned, but I don’t have the time or patience to read through 10+ pages.

How does this affect FanDuel operations since they are located in NY (at least I think they are)?

NY AG said they can continue to operate in NY — i.e. we can still collect taxes on your revenue

A single tear….this is bs and makes us all vulnerable. But sitting around crying is not the answer we need to fighT back! Write to the powers that be like this ny ag and governor and others and show how this affects their constituents…

Wake up people, the time has come to take action. Our forefathers dumped tea in the Boston Harbor over a 1 cent tax. Its time for us to take action flood the AG twitter handle and Facebook page. Tell FD and DK you support them!
