Following post made before NY news broke

Hey Grinders,

The battle to keep DFS fully legal is still going on in some states, and obviously New York is an important one. Attorney General Eric Schneiderman is considering preventing New Yorkers from playing daily fantasy sports. There are over 500,000 daily fantasy players in the state of New York and AG Schneiderman would like to put in place restrictive measures that prevent your ability to play. It’s time for our community to come together and stand up against these unreasonable efforts.

If you live in New York, you can help now. Make sure AG Eric Schneiderman hears from you. Tell him you support daily fantasy sports for all in New York state. Daily fantasy sports is fun, entertaining and a game of skill. NY has bigger challenges than fantasy football.

Just a quick question since I’m sure maybe someone on here knows; what would happen if they have to cancel the WFFC? Would the player get the value of the ticket? I currently have 1 ticket and am not liking all this recent news

Mr. Schneiderman began investigating the fantasy sites after a DraftKings employee inadvertently released internal betting data and that same week won $350,000 on FanDuel, which is based in New York. A representative of DraftKings denied that the employee used the internal data to gain an advantage. Both fantasy companies had allowed employees to bet on rival sites, but no longer do. Mr. Schneiderman asked the two companies for a range of internal data and details on how they prevent fraud.

The attorney general’s office also said that ads on the two sites “seriously mislead New York citizens about their prospects of winning.” State investigators found that to date, “the top 1 percent of DraftKings winners receive the vast majority of the winnings.”

Anyone else thing the site’s letters are just immature and trying to just be sarcastic and nasty. Why not point out the facts rather than try to win the short term argument. Similar to the advertising game they are simply just being short minded.

Not a surprise considering the frat bro nature of the companies. DraftKings in particular has been completely amateurish with how it has handled the situation.

Come on. You know several of us were tagged as conspiracy theorists but all were truths, months to years before it reached the mainstream press. As was stated earlier, the sites did nothing and the change of TOS to enable the scriptors without punishments/suspension/banning of those involved for breaking the TOS at that time proved the greed is good/money rules theory. A better bottom line came at a cost. That started the release of the hammer that was dropped. I am optimistic and not here to rub salt in the wound, but let’s not forget how we got here.

Besides, if they were really trying to change, we would likely have seen the CSV file for all contests and a matchup blocker.

I am glad I am not the only one. It seems as if this was the response from a 25 year old kid not someone who owns a multi-million business in a billion dollar industry. Let the lawyers work for you, come on guys!

The difference is that NY State actions have a tendency to cause a ripple effect. I think Fanduel and DK have no choice but to fight this or else they will see places like Massachusetts following suit.

Ban lottery tickets. 0 skill and the states do plenty of fleecing of people with the lottery.

Way too many hands in the lottery system. The Man will never let that happen. DFS is just not as big as everyone thinks it is.

Meanwhile in Illinois, the state can’t even afford to pay all the lottery winners on time. I’m sure we’re next to ban DFS:(

Agree. They should have more articulate points to defend themselves than attacking the source. Children get put to bed early, adults stay up to close out the day. Coffee is for closers too…

I live in Rochester NY and play daily this is just the worse news yet. I saw a news item on the internet that NY has more Daily Fantasy players then any state. I fear this might be the end of the line for DFS. Some how Fan Duel and Draft Kings has to fight this with everything they have. They are fighting for there Business survival. There has got to be some NY politicians out there that feel that this is not right. We need to get a Bill passed in the NY State house and Senate submitted and passed so DFS can be exempt and taxed and regulate so the AG will get off our backs. This really sucks in 5 days I won’t be able to play.
This country is really going down the crapper. It’s controlled by special interest and the special interest do not want DFS. It looks like were doomed, it’s time for all of us to step up to the plate and contact are local representatives and let them know how we feel. God I’m so pissed off right now I can’t stand it.

I have been warning about this for over a month. The casino interests don’t like competition and the state wants to get a major cut of the action. Combined they have declared war on DFS. Unless we fight back at the polls, in the streets and on the airwaves, we will go the way of online poker

Check out this map of New York when they re-elected that scum Cuomo. Most of the state is deep red but the city and a few counties tip the balance of the state so far left….All the AG and other statewide office holders need to do is keep the liberal City happy with some progressive nonsense, and they cruise to re-election. This is the same AG that is suing Exxon claiming they knew about non-existent global warming.

I feel like the apparently significant number of people who believe this is a left/right political issue are the same reason why I’ve been profitable at DFS so far. Alas.

Oh don’t get me wrong. There are more than enough chucklehead “anti gamblers” on the right that would do away with us too. The issue is cronyism not ideology.

I play DFS everyday and love every minute of it. I do believe players being allowed to enter contests hundreds of times with hundreds of different lineups casts a large shadow of the idea of skill versus chance.

FanDuels response sounds like it was written by a 7th grader….. Really Really Long Time…. Many Many Years…..

This does not sound like a response I’d expect from a company with a billion dollar valuation. 100% screams amateur hour.

You bet its a political issue, but it’s not a left/right issue. No matter the party, its all about taking power and money away from the public and in the hands/control of government.

Elections matter, no matter what side of the political spectrum you’re on. Problem is, so many people are ignorant to it before its too late, and care about who their elected officials are only when they are personally affected by something.

We live in a country right now where the two front runners for President of the United States are Donald Trump (!) and Hillary Clinton, who is currently under FBI investigation. We deserve every bit of this as a country.

I’m well aware it involves politics. But it’s not a left/right political issue as in one side is worse than the other on this issue.

Yeah, you’re right about that. My main point is that a lot of these wounds on us as a country are self inflicted, simply because the majority of this country doesn’t care who’s in charge.

Brutal that it happens at this time of the year. Cold winter, getting dark at 4 every day and people can’t even have a little more intrest in sports. Really ashame.

yeah turns out you need laws to back up your business model instead of sponsorships with professional sports teams and leagues. disappointing on a lot of different levels.

they should have bought themselves some time with a very brief statement and then came out tomorrow with a comprehensive statement laying out their case and how they would move forward.

My quick 2 cents and anyone close to the Fan Duel and Draft kings higher ups. Argument A: If it is not a skill game then why do only 1% of the same players cash all the time. (in his own cease statement he claims this 1% stat)

completely agree – Fanduel probably had that clown with the beard in a hoodie write the letter. Those commercials are terrible. DK’s are at least funny.

curious where others NY players are going to take their action…..seems like this is just targeting FD and DK………for now.
