Following post made before NY news broke

    Hey Grinders,

The battle to keep DFS fully legal is still going on in some states, and obviously New York is an important one. Attorney General Eric Schneiderman is considering preventing New Yorkers from playing daily fantasy sports. There are over 500,000 daily fantasy players in the state of New York and AG Schneiderman would like to put in place restrictive measures that prevent your ability to play. It’s time for our community to come together and stand up against these unreasonable efforts.

If you live in New York, you can help now. Make sure AG Eric Schneiderman hears from you. Tell him you support daily fantasy sports for all in New York state. Daily fantasy sports is fun, entertaining and a game of skill. NY has bigger challenges than fantasy football.

Please contact the Attorney General Eric Schneiderman via phone, email, etc. at the details below, and visit this URL to petition

New York Post article is a must read IMO

    http://nypost.com/2015/11/12/i-challenge-you-to-a-fantasy-football-duel-eric-schneiderman/

do we even know the guy that wrote that? is he any good?

Wouldn’t want the fate of DFS to lay in the hands of some average joe who has a 40% win rate in cash games or anything haha

How long does it usually take to receive your PayPal payout from fanduel after submitting a withdrawal? The message said 48 hours but I still have not gotten my deposit into my paypal. It has been more than 48 hours

If any casino were to benefit from DFS going under it wouldn’t be the Indian Casinos with their playing card craps game in CA or any other casino without a sportsbook. Bovada would be the casino that volume would actually sky rocket I bet.

Well seeing as his challenge is for 10 games and he claims he can win 9 that’s some pretty strong words. Even the best DFS players in the world know that 10 games is too small a sample size and luck would play a bigger role in that sample size as well. But he’d be willing to bet his house on it….

So if poker and sportsbooks are illegal how are we still allowed to go on there and place bets? ie. bovada.

right, this scares me. you wouldn’t think the AG would at least get some advice or buy a lineup you are crazy.

obviously this is never going to go down but I don’t know why we keep re-surfacing the article without even thinking about this or even knowing who the hell the OP even is. If it was like CSUram presenting the challenge it’d be one thing. But it’s another when it’s someone I’ve never heard of and we are essentially blindly saying “yea, show them who’s boss!”

Like, this is a guy that might have been one of the people that faded Favors last night for all we know

The challenge means nothing. It would never happen as it would ruin the AG’s credibility. I figured the content within was worth it alone.

Good for them. Get this in front of a judge preemptively. And I believe this will allow them to stay open in NY.

If that is indeed the case, I assume we would have several months of play left at the very least, right?

I faded Favors last night =(

But yeah, even CSU wouldn’t bet his house on winning 9/10 against any random person in the world. It wouldn’t take winning 9/10 to prove that DFS is a skill game either.

Thought the same thing while reading it

I’m wondering why is this a problem now? It wasn’t up to a year ago. It makes me think that people at executive levels in the gambling circles are not happy with the success of DFS, Fanduel and Draftkings in particular. To me I compare DFS to Forex. Instead of researching on currency pairs, one would research on athletes to put together a team one would feel is going to produce a high enough score for ROI…..

You can play, just means the payment processors won’t let new deposits go through

    Hello New York FanDuel Fans,

As you have no doubt seen, earlier this week the New York Attorney General sent us a cease and desist letter regarding play on FanDuel contests from New York. We want to take this opportunity to update you all on the situation – and make you aware of some changes that are going into effect.

FanDuel is one of the largest tech startups in New York, employs hundreds of people in this state, and has been a source of entertainment for all of you over the last five years. We are honored to have helped build this community of fantasy players and will exhaust all legal options in our pursuit to continue to be a part of your lives.

As such, it is with great disappointment that we will begin the process of limiting access to users located in New York while we pursue the opportunity to be heard in Court.

For now that means the following:

    – The full slate of this weekend’s contests across all sports will run as scheduled.

    – However, we will stop allowing new deposits on the site, from New York, as of today.

    – All users in New York can and will absolutely be able to withdraw their money at any time.

The situation is developing and we will continue to keep you all updated on any changes, while we pursue our day in court.

Thanks guys…so I have another question could I just close my fanduel account and open up another one with an address in another state?

The darkness is spreading. Will “payment processors” (read: Paypal) let us cash out on Monday?

There was also a banner across the top of FD that said there would be no restrictions on ny players this weekend. Oh except you can’t deposit. Statement above says I can withdraw, but doesn’t say how, or how long it will take.

Right….but it doesn’t say you can get your money through paypal. You may have to receive the funds by check. I’m just speculating, though.

This is a huge development in this. I’m actually getting pretty depressed Bc of this development. Big blow today. Chalk one up for the bad guys

You’re entitled your opinion.I just hate looking at the entries and seeing the same name hundreds of times. An individual with a high level of skill, great data analysis, computer hacker, script and a big bank roll could do some major damage.

This sounds like the girl on Fox News saying that the top 1% should pay for everyone else’s college tuition. It’s akin to socialism.

Paypal wasn’t the processor that demanded they stop accepting payments. However it is interesting that they aren’t accepting any deposits. This is probably an effort to show good faith in complying while fighting the decision in court. Everyone complains about the companies’ arrogance in running non stop adds. Now is the time for them to be more measured. This is a big fight that they have to win.

The only darkness is the NY AG’s grandstanding. He heard the “gamble” chatter (looking at you Mike&Mike/etc.) and thought it would get him further to write something that sounded morally sound and responsible when it was just more liberal nonsense and greatly flawed in logic.

Don’t.Give.Up. And at least let more than one state fall before the doom and gloom pronouncements.
