IMO, FD and DK really need to put their focus on getting a bill passed. I don’t see them winning in court.

It’s been amateur hour from the get go with these two and their PR/legal departments. Hiring those prestigious law firms to take on the NY AG was too little too late. It should’ve never come to this. These companies should’ve been greasing the wheels on the government end from the very beginning instead of concentrating on an advertising blitz.

Yea, on the fanduel news room they go over that, frequently asked questions for new York residents. From what it says it still looks like you can play if you are physically outside of the state. I don’t see why you couldn’t

I was in Japan a week ago and I was NOT able to enter contests or make deposits.

I would love to be positive here, but state regulation will never work. The fees and cut the government will want could only be offset by a minimum 30% rake. FD and DK need to come away as stand alone companies in all this.

it would be unprofitable no point in playing

  • KushBush

So they didn’t shut down dfs just dk and fd?

    yahoo here i come

you had to just download the latest version from the app store and turn on your location.
i know of people who had this issue and there was a fix.

That would suck for those that treat this as a 9 to 5. But I don’t, I already have a career.

Personally I don’t care if it’s profitable. I play nothing but GPPs. I lose money more often than not but I have fun with this. I just want it to stay.

People need to become comfortable with the fact that if we want DFS to stay it may very well have to exist in a form that’s far different than what we see it as today.

The thing that is the most amazing to me is the general public’s reaction to these decisions: http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2015/12/11/judge-shuts-down-dfs-in-new-york/

I hate this site PFT, but if you look at the comments below, which is usually a group of complete morons, it is an overwhelming consensus that they all dislike DFS…which I found to be extremely surprising…and all calling it a scam.

Hmm…I did not anticipate that. Either way, this ruling will be short lived, the legislature will do something. A state next door, New Jersey, already made a determination that it wasn’t gambling, so I’ll survive. But, I think it’s completely official now that the previous way things were being run are over. We’ll see what happens moving forward, but it is certainly a sad day in DFS history, regardless of what happens next.

Also please note that this ruling wasn’t a final determination on the legality of DFS u set the current laws.

If NY can pass clear laws legalizing DFS, then Schneiderman has nothing to argue whether he likes DFS or not. I I imagine the lobbyists are busy with that angle.

In in Ohio and there will be a determination there as well. I Don’t hear anyone screaming for it to be shut down here..I thrink refation more likely..but there is a casino presence here, so you never know.

I’d be interested in what Dan Gilbert has to say. He owns casinos and the Cavs.

No one’s screaming about it because other states are going about it the right way. In other states lobbyists and the ags are working together, unlike ny. If interpreting the law in certain states makes dfs illegal, those states are more than likely working with each other to legalize dfs and make a profit off of it. There not trying to just ban it in the meantime and then try to legalize it later. But that won’t get schneiderman headlines.
When have the government gave a s*** about consumer protection, it’s all about their intrests

FanDuel, which has its main headquarters in New York, and DraftKings, which has a satellite office in New York but is based in Boston, can still operate their national businesses out of those Manhattan offices but cannot do business with anyone ****within the state****

  • ClownShoes

Why can’t we talk about possible DFS sites popping up in far away places? This site is suppose to be informative right. If someone is going to offer a product we HAVE to discuss it to protect us consumers.

  • Wrx_guy

Soooo anybody from NY want to help a noob out with a lineup for NBA tonight on fanduel? 50/50 if I win the 20k :D but seriously this sucks for you guys. I wish Obama would say something about this

I think you have severely overestimated the importance of DFS.

  • KushBush

Well we know Adam Silver is a big fan of legalizing gambling, any chance nba and their billions will say something about this?

A lot of people from states where dfs is legal had problems playing overseas, I think fanduel is referring to playing in the us, in states tat are legal. Not saying your wrong, just saying playing overseas has been an issue for a while. Some people have problems and other dont, I’m not sure anyone really knows

  • BigBwana82

Does anyone know if we will get to at least play this weekend? I am already enters in multiple games with few live from last nt. Also if DK will allow us to play once we are out of state? Truly does suck & Francesa is a typical moron that thinks he knows everything but yet has no clue what GPP is…

Agreed. Did not appreciate that my post was censored earlier. Already going to be clicking on RG fewer times if I can’t play. May just stop clicking altogether even if dfs does come back in NY.

  • mchin1027

It’s not residency, it’s physical location

  • mretrade

So does anyone want to tell me if i should bother to start forecasting this weekends games for the DK millymaker lol.

Pretty simple concept really. This is not the place to talk about ways to play DFS illegally. If that makes it less informative to you well then I don’t know what to tell you.

Yep- should bump the topic up in front of our nations mental health issues, gun control, and fighting ISIS.

  • FSG22

Do you think a bill will happen to legalize in all the states so none of them are banned?

  • Putz

Then why do sites ban by residency? Horrible business model.
