Haven’t been there in a couple years but have a bachelor party coming up the weekend of the Sweet 16. Suggest away!

It should be noted that all participants are in average or worse shape and in our early 30’s… so discount any of the super posh club-ey and pool places. haha.

  • bengalhockey

I personally like the Flamingo I’ve stayed their multiple times. Its good if you are looking for a cheaper rate. And has a great pool.
I also like it because it’s in the middle of the strip and close to Caesars which IMO has the best sportsbook for watching the tourney having been their the last 2 years.

  • hendry

i think cosmo is def top place to stay right now. not sure whether it fits your criteria or not. like other poster said, next to caesars for watching. close enough to lagasses which is decent too.

edit. thought about sweet 16 and changed my vote.

I lived in LV for 15 years, and have a soft spot for a few places.

On the strip uptown: Mirage or TI

    Downtown: Golden Nugget

Off Strip: Orleans or Red Rock Station

Aria is the nicest one in my opinion. Slightly better rooms than Cosmo. The City Center places are best location for what I like.

  • hendry

it sounds wicked lazy but my only beef with aria is having to walk from the set back location to the street. /lazy

I agree if you go out front entrance, but there’s one on the other side that’s one flight of stairs right to St.

    Cosmo/PH/Ceasers all good.

You want to be in the middle of the strip. Places like MGM, Mandalay Bay or the Wynn are too far from the where the action is and unless you love walking for hours, its not recommended.

However, stay away from Paris/Ballys/Older smokey hotels etc..

price range on your hotel makes a big difference.
I’ve been to all of the low roller ceaesars establishments…ballys, flamingo, harrah’s, rio’s, imperial palace (I shudder as i write that…its now The Linq remodeled). I’ve also been to Cosmo and stayed at the Nugget downtown.

Obviously I would recommend Cosmo, if you can swing the $300/night+ weekend rate. If not, and are just looking for a place to crash, of the other hotels I have experience with, I’d recommend either Bally’s or Harrah’s. Harrah’s really doesnt have anything going for it (pool sucks, buffet sucks/borderline inedible, crowd sucks, sports book ok they are liberal with drink tix for only a few hundred in sports betting) except of that group, the rooms are the “best”. Its located more towards the northern end of centralish on the strip. If you plan on spending time at the V (which I dont as I’m Sheldon Adelson adverse due to his online gambling stance), or the Mirage (whose sports book I have enjoyed) Harrah’s would be a good choice. Its also a perfect location if you want to line shop between Harrah’s and the Mirage as its a 5 minute walk between their sports books.

Bally’s really has nothing going for it except its located center strip and has the best location/price ratio. Easy walks to Bellagio, Paris, Aria, Cosmo, Caesars.

I’m in the camp of “saving on a hotel room and instead spend that money gambling, drinking, strippers”. Obviously if you can swing Cosmo and do all the rest, I’d recommend Cosmo seems like a good place for dudes your age. Great location, good restaurants, good bars, hot chicks everywhere no old ladies with oxygen tanks here.. Downsides to Cosmo is no poker room (no big deal just walk next door to Aria or Bellagio) and their sportsbook isnt set up for people to watch the games ie its small:place your bets and go. One thing to note about Cosmo is at least for me they seem pretty liberal with comps.. I got my Cosmo card at my last session at the craps table and a few months later I got a comp offer for 2 free nights.

Hope that helps lemme know if you have any questions.

Funny this thread came up… I’m going for opening tourney weekend… We got rooms at PARIS…. Why don’t you like it? I’m also of the mind that if it blows we can walk next door… but curious as what made you say that?

  • SmoothJuice33

I cannot recommend the Aria enough. Top notch. Stay there every time, including when I go for the Super Bowl in a few weeks.

Also, NCAA tourney time is so fun in Vegas.

lol dont let me scare you off. I never stayed in the rooms in paris. I just dont like the paris/bally casino as I find them very smoky and tacky/old..

If you are on a budget, its a fine I guess as the location is awesome… I personally pay up an extra $40 a night and stay across the street or next door at PH

  • 8MileAllstars

I go to Vegas all the time, don’t listen to people who say that some hotel is too far from stuff, as for the most part everything is a short cab ride at worst from any other place.

Aria and Cosmo have been mentioned and are great. I’d also throw Mandalay, Vdara, Wynn and Trump on there.

If you’re looking for a good party atmosphere, Hard Rock will be hopping that weekend.

  • AndThisGuyPeedOnIt

Aria is certainly awesome as mentioned, but assuming you want to stay cheaper on the strip with many people, PH is usually not that much more expensive than Flamingo and is significantly nicer, IMO.

I’ve found the price difference between the dumps and nice places to be really heavily dependent on the what weekend you’re going. The time before last I booked across a random weekend with no big events and Aria was only like 20% more than say Flamingo. March Madness weekend you’re looking at double for high end versus low end. If you’re going with a wife/gf stay somewhere nice, the difference is huge. If you’re going to a bachelor party save and get an extra “tour” of the club.

  • hendry

i never find a big enough difference in prices to justify staying at a shitty place. when ur in vegas you can save other ways. the gap on food prices etc is much larger.

cosmo is nice because when you finally make it back at the end of the night instead of walking into a dead shithole with old people littered around on slots you can have one last drink at the bond bar.

The Paris is terrible. I can almost 100% guarantee you will spend no time there unless you are sleeping. Speaking from experience.

Planet Hollywood is always my go-to place for bachelor parties. Great location and ‘scenery’. You also have the ABC Store and Walgreens right there for booze, and Earl of Sandwich open 24 hours to end the night.

Bachelor Party=Cheapest room you can find on the strip. My last 2 trips that has meant NY NY.

if you’re single it sucks to meet someone and take them back to your shithole though.

Never ever take them to your room…always go to hers.

That’s your tip for the day.

Another vote for Cosmo but that doesn’t sound like it fits your criteria. If you guys want a cheap place and happen to like bowling, the Orleans is pretty cool. Very down to earth in terms of pricing and people and a lot to do – surprisingly has a few good restaurants as well. It’s off the strip a little bit but as someone mentioned, it’s a short cab ride to the strip so I wouldn’t let that deter you. Also a pretty good sized sportsbook if that matters to you.

    Have fun

  • SteveAvery

Some advice regardless of where you end up is once you get there to always ask how much it would be to upgrade your room especially at the smaller hotels. If your dates happen to coincide with a slow time where they don’t have many rooms booked, you can get some great deals. It’s basically free money to the casino at that point since the rooms will be empty anyway – I’ve got $300+ a night upgrades for $49 a night.
