    DraftKings Rep

Over the last few weeks there has been a great deal of discussion regarding the methods by which players can enter and manage 100’s of lineups on DraftKings as well as interest in what customers can do to reduce the time commitment necessary to do so. As you all know our policy until now has been to disallow automated access or scripting on the site in all cases. After a long internal discussion we have made the decision to change our terms to allow our customers to use scripts to automate a short list of time consuming behaviors on the site.

    The permitted behaviors are:

    - Creating a contest

    - Creating a lineup

    - Editing a lineup

    - Entering a guaranteed contest

    - Withdrawing from a contest

There is no other scripted or automated behavior that will be tolerated and we will be monitoring for any behavior that violates our terms. There will be no warnings for violations and the penalty for such a violation will be at the sole discretion of DraftKings.

We appreciate your patience as we’ve worked to solidify a reasonable and enforceable set of rules as DFS and the size of contests has grown. We hope this will provide clarity for those looking to save some time on a day to day basis while playing on DraftKings.

For more information on this update please visit our terms and conditions page for full language regarding access and of course feel free to email us at support@draftkings.com with any questions you have related to this change.

No scripting allowed to enter non-guaranteed contests then? As in, no one can script snipe a bunch of H2H or 50/50?

That’s what it seems like and this policy makes sense.

I was a huge fan of DK but LOL. I love that you released this just hours after Yahoo released their new product hoping to avoid some of the heat already occurring on the forums. Just seems like another slap in the face to the smaller players, and exactly why I will be moving my play away from DraftKings and your FratBoy appearance.

Yeah, that’s great if that’s what they mean. I’m also glad DK came out and actually addressed scripting rather then pretending it doesn’t exist. I don’t know how much they actually enforced the scripting rules before (match up limiter probably takes care of 95% of the problem anyway) but at least it is public now.

  • rlshea

Wait and see. Without enforcement it is just words.

To be clear, will there be any repercussions for previous violators of the previous TOS? (If those violators were identified, that is)

    Thanks for the update!

I predict by this time next year anyone on RotoGrinders will be able to use our tools to do many of these things through the DraftKings API. Hopefully sooner.

This is what I would like to see. Scripts aren’t inherently unfair unless they are being used to bully other players. A Rotogrinders tool that could enter a few hundred lineups at once would be awesome.

As these tools become avaliable sites will need to put some thought into contest limits. I don’t mind if people want to play the unlimited games but I will support the ones where you have to pick your best 200 lineups.

Cal- I like your thinking buddy. Right on time and very entrepreneurial of you, you forgot to add for a fee :) A win for the guys who cant pay for someone to make one for them and the not so computer savvy players.

Is there an official API for these actions?

Draftkings shouldnt allow scripting, period. It gives an unfair advantage to people who know how to write scripts to be able to enter & manage hundreds of lineups at once. Either figure out a way to make that possible through your site or app, or dont allow it at all.

  • MrCalzone

There should be no reason that DK shouldn’t design and release a script that all DK players can use then right?

DraftKings can control anything they want through capping the # of entries to contests, there is no reason not to make the lives of players as easy as possible. I applaud this move and their general tech approach.

Explain how it provides an unfair advantage? I fail to see how it provides an advantage over another person.

If it provides such an advantage, wouldn’t everyone want to learn it so they can use it?

What’s a script???? During football season I really wear out some pens and notebooks :)

You mean there’s an easier way?

It’s not finished/open yet and I’m not sure what will be allowed, so still a prediction.

If it provides such an advantage, wouldn’t everyone want to learn it so they can use it?

Person A & person B both have $21,600 they are willing to invest in a major $27 entry GPP and both want to enter 800 unique lineups.

Person A has scripting knowledge and has created a script that makes this process take approx 1-2 hours to create & enter all of the lineups.

Person B has no scripting knowledge. It takes person B 1 hour to enter 100 unique lineups, taking person B a total of 8 hours to enter all of his lineups.

Person A has a distinct advantage because he can create & enter all of his lineups in 1/8th of the time as person B and wait until 2 hours before lineup lock to get all of the latest weather & lineups news. Person B likely will have already made 60-70% of his lineups before any of this news is available and will have to now spend additional time that should be spent on creating the remainder of his lineups on editing already created lineups.

Sounds like an advantage to me.

  • SwedishFishy

I’m very curious how DK is going to police this. Seems like it would be very difficult to detect if someone was doing this for non-GPP.
