China has no chance to keep it close unless Yi and Guam play whole game. Hope Jokic get’s more time.

Wish Jokic wouldn’t act like such a baby. Coach didn’t look happy.

Jokic will probably see his normal rotation. In the second half of the 4th, I doubt Jokic or Raduljica will be on. It doesn’t matter if Serbia wins or not, so even if it is close, I don’t think their coach should put them on. Being 4th actually might be good for them because they match up very well vs Lithuania if Lithuania wins the other group and they are on the other side of USA.

Tomorrow will be an interesting day. All 6 teams have something to play for so it requires more thinking than today.

Hate dfs. Even when you win you still lose. Had two great shots at baseball and bball and get two bad breaks late games to cost me 800 and counting.

Crazy guo was a great pick giving his PT- price but can’t make anything

I am… wondering about tiebreaker scenarios. I know nobody wants the #2 seed in Group B. Ideally they want 1 or 3. Not sure what exactly needs to happen for each team though.

  • Vanco

Do I have this right? Croatia is trying to take the 3 seed and Lithuania wants to move up to the 1 seed. Argentina also wants to keep a 1 seed and Spain does not want to fall to the 4 seed. Brazil and Nigeria are essentially out it seems and are playing each other but one could be in contention if Spain or Croatia loses. There’s a good chance there is a couple ties in seeding. All I could find on that was from 2012 (points are 2 for a win, 1 for a loss):

“In case teams are tied on points, the tiebreaking criteria are, in order of first application:
Results of the games involving the tied teams (head-to-head records)
Goal average of the games involving the tied teams
Goal average of all of the games played
    Points scored
    Drawing of lots”

It goes 1) Points; 2) Head-to-head results; 3) Points difference; 4) Points scored. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Basketball_at_the_2016_Summer_Olympics Brazil and Nigeria could both still get in. Brazil needs to win and needs Spain to lose. Nigeria needs to win and needs Croatia to lose.

Thanks for the clarification! So basically all these games today matter so the “elites” should be getting plenty of minutes

That’s what I’m thinking. All games should be competitive and this might be the best slate we’ve had so far.

Brazil 1-3 vs Nigeria 1-3 – The winner of this game is still alive, while the loser is eliminated. A Brazil win also means that Croatia clinches a spot in the quarterfinals.

Argentina 3-1 vs Spain 2-2 – If Brazil wins the first game, Spain needs to win to stay alive, because it will have lost to the two teams Brazil and Croatia it could possibly be tied with at 2-3.

Croatia 2-2 vs Lithuania 3-1 – Lithuania clinches the top seed in Group B with a win. Croatia needs to win to stay alive if Nigeria wins the first game.

*If two teams are tied the tiebreaker is h2h. So Brazil and Croatia both have the tiebreaker over Spain.

*If multiple teans are tied, the tiebreaker goes to the team with the best record in games between those teams. If that’s even say Croatia, Nigeria, and Spain all tie at 2-3 – it comes down to point differential in games between those teams. In the aforementioned scenario, Spain (plus-7) would finish third, Nigeria (plus-5) would finish fourth and Croatia (minus-12) would be eliminated

*If Spain beat Argentina and Croatia beat Lithuania we would have a four way tie at 3-2 for first place.

I’m riding Barbosa again. Idk why he was benched last game but have a feeling he bounces back and is relatively lower owned.
