    Rose had an ace.

And that is when aces were worth a lot more then they are now.

Oh yah, that’s right and it was worth more then – so that accounts for the bulk of the non-position differential points

No practice rounds for Reed. Arrives on site night before tournament starts.

  • cnages24

Have to imagine Norlander is going to be popular in the 6k range as a salary saver. Has been trending up lately.

Don’t forget the Morikawa Japanese Heritage angle

    All in on that angle.

What about Sungjae Im? He’s gotta medal to avoid a mandatory military service right?

    Him and SWK

The bone spur excuse won’t fly in SK so they gotta legit earn it lol

Yes, Im and Si Woo Kim looking to medal to avoid the 2-year military stint. That’s a lot of pressure IMO.

Vegas and Mito seem like great values in the low 7Ks based on how they have been playing. Not sure how the quick turnaround to fly to Japan is going to affect them though.

I have had lots of experience making that long flight…Chi to Narita, then I connected on to the coast. I felt the travel was easier with the spin of the globe and time zones. I was always up and ready to go, until the adrenaline and schedule was laid out. then 3-4 days after you landed, it hits. The reverse flight, Jet lag and time zone hits right away.

but these guys are/should be travel savy. LMAO and with the field and salaries, low 7K’s might be in demand

Think I’ll buy in to the pressure angle and fade the South Koreans plus Matsuyama.
Not sure which of the 3 Americans up top I like the most. Certainly valid arguments for all 3. Looking forward to it though. Get home from work and watch golf, can’t get much better than that.

15 pts for an ace 8 for an eagle
LMAO Woo Hoo, I want that back.

Wondering if one teammate doing well might bolster someone on the bottom. For example, if Mats is killing it, might Hoshino overperform simply due to country pride or something like that? Kind of like what happened in match play with am Davis/Leishman in New Orleans. It’s not match play but there might still be a similar effect.

  • BlueEdwards

Anyone scared off by SWK? I mean the last time we saw him he was shanking shots like a 30 handicap.

I know you know there is no team competition – so they are not teammates in the true definition; they are merely from the same country. Also based on the last Olympics, there was not much teammate bolstering as the leaderboard was pretty diverse

Indeed that is what I meant. Similar to Olympic swimming – there are individual events but you are representing your country, hence your country is a “team”.

I remember from the coverage 5 years ago, the golfers said they were more willing to take risks and go for the hole as they know they are not going to get cut and only first, second and third matter.

I remember when Sungjae Im collected hole out eagles like it was nothing. If he’s going for the pin, I’m in!

I’m not sure if they really have more pressure. Everyone expects USA to get at least one medal. I like guys who are underdogs. Gotta play a Canadian!

My only pressure guy in my gut lineup is Im. My guys are from six different countries. I have 0 American.

  • MrBreeze

Where can I find shots gained Typhoon? I’m really chiseling this one down this week…lol

My thought in playing Hoshino is that when it’s clear Matsuyama is not in contention, the focus might turn to his sidekick, who just birdied 5 in a row and is getting hot, and the media and Japanese girls are going nuts! And my reaction would be a little bit like this guy.

I am only playing a few lines this week and starting each one with Hideki, Im, and SWK. I know there is a lot of pressure, but I am happy to take the guy who has won a tournament on this course before and the two that are trying to medal to avoid military service in a week that looks like a crapshoot to me. Definitely a simplistic way of looking at things so I am not expecting to win anything this week haha

  • BIF

Anyone starting to see ownership projections ?

Guessing Hideki is going to be up near the top as is the 4 from Team USA along with a couple others.

Guessing that the PGA Tour players under 7000 (Straka, Sabbs and Norlander) will be the low priced chalk.

My hope is people shy away from them with the travel turnaround but highly doubt it given the small player pool this week and most likely only a few viable plays down in the 6Ks. Rozner in the same range has been pretty good especially with his approach play so that is another decent pivot. Having traveled to Asia a few times as well, I am sure they will be running on adrenaline for the first couple of days and be fine especially since it’s the Olympics. But you are right that the jet lag will most likely hit them in rounds 3 and 4.

Ryan Fox at 6.9…Seems like he might be more popular than Sabbs or Straka?
