Need to get your LU’s in before most people get home from work tomorrow.
5:30pm central ( I am a little confused about eastern, central and tokyo time, really I have seen both 530 and 630 eastern time and havnt found an actual tokyo time tee time table)

over under on people chiming in that they got caught short on placing LU’s

    I’m blaming YOU.

Also: Betfair has a form guide up, so at least I can make a facsimile of my normal process. Was just going to do 3 lineups by eyeball, but now maybe I’ll do 20 the usual way.

Man I would love to get off this topic of ownership lol Anyway throwing 30 lineups out there and hoping for the best.

If we’re talking sleepers, I always love my Fins. Valimaki & Samooja will make my lineups. How can we forget our favorite “value” EURO in Gavin Green?!!! Haven’t decided medalists yet.

    Is a sleeper low-owned?

Well yes but I think at least Valimaki has a T10 chance… The other 2 not so much!

I was just throwing a little tongue-in-cheek in there about the ownership discussion. I don’t know why we always discuss sleepers if ownership isn’t important. It’s basically saying, “here’s a guy I think has a chance of doing really well, and I don’t think anybody has him on their radar, which could give somebody a leg-up on the competition by playing him.” But, maybe I have “sleeper” wrong. Anyhow, good luck this week!

Sorry right over my head. Need another cup of Joe!

People just have their ways with lineups, including me. Somebody here is gonna win big this week! I do wonder how many “casuals” are playing this week. And good luck to you as well! Nail one of those sub 7K guys.

Sleeper does imply low ownership, but I also use it for low salary. Since this is a no-cut event, I think that favors stars and sleepers builds. But we will see…

I kind of like the ring to this!

But this could also apply to the rare late for tee time

Juvic Pagunsan is 43. He won his first Japan Tour event earlier this year. He did so using 11 clubs and carrying his own bag. The win qualified him for The Open. He elected to skip The Open so he could better prepare to represent his country at The Olympics.

He is my sleeper for this event.

Because with limited salary you cant pick all highest odds/salary. So you have to pick lower salary players that we hope do well. That does not mean it was ownership driven, and nor should it be.

With 40,000-140,000 entries picking 144 players. You will never pick someone others missed.

    Thanks for the clarification, Jimbo!

BTW, Jim – do you you think high odds/salary correlates to high points? Or, said differently, do you think the scale of odds/salary tracks closely to the scale of final points?

That is what odds are based on obviously. I mean everyone knows what this answer is. You are not going to trick anyone with that leading question

When ownership makes a single point or breaks a tie or when lower ownership has a better chance and statistically more likely to do better than a higher owned player. Then I would consider ownership.
and its still Jim to you

Of course not. Every single person here knows that answer.

I’m not sure which of the Top 20 psychological biases you have that continues to draw you back to a point not related to the discussion, but no one ever thinks that taking a lower owned player will get them more points based solely on being a lower-owned player.

Oh, I thought you just said it was related.

Well, I’m glad you know it’s not highly correlated. Anyhow, if I see a $7500 player who I think is miss-priced, meaning I think he has much more potential than DK and Vegas are giving him credit for, and at the same time, he’s not being talked about, I would call that a sleeper, and I’d be even more interested in because of that low ownership. Conversely, if everyone has already spotted a $6500 guy as being mispriced, I don’t think he’s a sleeper anymore (high ownership coming).
