Let’s share the heck out of this.

Great. But the damage is already been done. Dominoes are falling now, I’m worried we won’t make it through this NFL season :(

The law firm is Greenberg Traurig, one of the largest and most reputable firms in the country. Arguing that because Draftkings commissioned and paid for the investigation would somehow taint the findings of a firm of this magnitude are ludicrous and unfounded. Companies pay for their own external audits by the big 4 consulting firms as well. It’s the same situation

I don’t doubt the report at all and it would be colossally stupid to fudge the report with the AG and FBI investing but to say the very idea is ludicrous? Two words for you, Arthur Anderson. Just saying.

All this does is clear Ethan’s name for his own future employment, but it really does nothing to help the future of DFS. The damage has already been done. The Illinois AG isn’t gonna change her mind based on this, neither will other state governmental agencies.

which is the exact reason the mob on the other thread should have calmed down with their baseless drivel about Ethan and DK (and cal and dan and any other RG contributor) cheating.

any chance the sites that published the “insider trading scandal” articles spreading rumors have to either do a follow up piece or would be accountable for any sort of using mis-info to damn an entire industry? Or am I just a stupid person that doesn’t realize justice is a thing of the past?

Just stupid to think it’s a thing, there never was any justice.

So in this one instance the guy didn’t use non public information from the site. But he still had access to non public information and was allowed to play on other sites unrestricted for how long? I think focusing on this one instance misses the larger point.

you’re not right OR wrong. fact is this was used as the main “see….SEE!!! this is proof as to how we know he is cheating!” argument. It was the large win that drew the most controversy. Again, the main reason that separates us from a civilization verses complete and utter chaos is the idea behind “innocent until proven guilty”. Just because someone has the ability to cheat does not equal being guilty of cheating. And damn any journalist that spread rumors as basically fact regarding these specific allegations.

why would a lawfirm falsely give the A-OK for something? Do they wish to not be respected anymore? Do they desire to be out of business. it makes zero sense for an outside law firm to find nothing if there is something to be found, regardless of who paid for them

I will reiterate I believe Ethan to be innocent. You could have said all the same things about Ted Wells and his Wells Report. Respected law firm, why would he risk his reputation, etc.etc. Point is there is nothing independent any findings from any investigation if they are funded by DK.

And they changed that policy. We all knew employees were playing. We should have all known they had an advantage – if for no other reason than that they lived and breathed DFS as their full time job.

Let’s take this for what it is a small win for DK. It shows that they were truthful in how they handled this specific instance. Think of the backlash if it was determined they lied or were hiding facts. The investigation may be just a small win – but if the investigation turned out otherwise, it probably would have been the death of DK.

Bob, I see your point but please read closer. The idea of an investigation of this magnitude rooted in impropriety in and of itself is not impossible. My only argument was that it was ludicrous to jump to that conclusion solely on the basis that Draftkings paid for the investigation.

Just reading some replies in this thread makes me sad. Sad that no matter what happens, some people just can’t be happy.

The internet is a downer sometimes.

  • Wombat

To think a major third party law firm would BS the results of an investigation to cover up for draftkings is delusional and that is what many are saying on twitter. That or they just didn’t read even the first paragraph of the article saying it was a third party law firm that conducted the investigation (probably the case for most.)

I bet you think 911 was a inside job by our government also. Some people well never be satisfied no matter how much proof is in front of them.

Then I don’t recommend looking at the comments on ESPN.

I’m sure if the FBI or AG clear them of any wrongdoing, that won’t be good enough for some people. I don’t get why people that are supposedly fans of DFS are so hell bent in bringing down the industry. At the very least, regulation is on the horizon. Throwing further accusations out will accomplish nothing positive.

I’m just glad this is on the front page of ESPN so it can maybe serve some benefit in helping Ethan and DFS. For those that still want to be skeptical, do what you will. I’ve got better things to do with my time than finding the negative in absolutely everything.

  • julieduke33

Problem is I have talked to numerous intelligent friends of mine that don’t play DFS and because of main stream media think DFS is corrupt and people must be cheating to win…public perception is awful for DFS at thiS point

Did they do it pro bono for the good of the community? Are we such children that we blindly accept the claims of objectivity in spite of the fact that money is changing hands between the two parties? Are you people serious?

It’s a PR move, all the more so for the fact that whether or not Ethan himself cheated on that particular day was never the main issue. The issue was access and the POTENTIAL for cheating to take place.

As far as how reputable this firm is, I’m sure the firms taking on the lawsuits, as well as the various AGs, US attorneys, and the FBI are quite impressed.

Let’s not lose sight of the issue here, people. Wait and see what turns up when the REAL investigations are complete.

I understand that DraftKings hired this firm, who else is supposed to hire a firm to come do this?

Also do people really think this firm is going to put its reputation on the line, their livelihood on the line to cover something up. When they know there are also FBI investigations, States Attorneys investigation all these other bodies looking into this right now. Do we really think they are going to risk everything to cover it up, only to have somebody else say oh non they lied, here are the real facts?

This is what this company does for a business, this is what they do. They aren’t going to risk their future on this one case by covering it up.

  • Vigilantes

It’s also not about them “covering it up” vs. just not getting the info. These arguments sound just as off as the conspiracy theory thoughts. This law-firm will burn if they clear DK when they shouldn’t have… they’ll never get another job again. They’d lose their license! bwahaahha.

Even Arthur Anderson resurfaced under a new name.

This report doesn’t say that no one had access to insider info and used it inappropriately.

So you think that this lawsuit is about Ethan? That lawsuit was sitting out there way before Ethan. Nevada and the other states have been working on this for a while.

The majority of the lawsuit I read was based on scripting and employees playing on other sites. Those 2 things are still tough issues for DK and FD to deal with.

They banned employees from playing on other sites because of the filed suit not Ethan. We will see if the scripting ends too.
