Let’s share the heck out of this.

Do I really have to explain myself line-by-line? Since you have no legitimate argument and think personal attacks are cool, I will respond to you with more respect. Remember Enron? Everybody thought Enron was a legit company with a rising stock until they went down like a ton of bricks.

“Ethan was never guilty in my opinion.”

Do you know what an opinion is? I guess I need to show you.

    o·pin·ion
    əˈpinyən/Submit
    noun
a view or judgment formed about something, not necessarily based on fact or knowledge.
    Facts show he wasn’t.

My opinion is Ethan did nothing wrong, mainly because there is NOT ENOUGH to say he did anything wrong. There is also not enough information to say he didn’t. We CANT confirm he did nothing wrong, but we also can’t confirm he did something wrong.

“He took advantage of something that was at his disposal.”

He had the power to do things that we didn’t. So, taking advantage of the system in place can be proven. Why wasn’t I allowed to view that data? Who was given the OK to use this and possibly other data?

False. Didn’t have the information until after line-up lock (1:40pm); set his line up at 3:28am.
That’s entirely true, but you CANT prove, like I CANT prove, he didn’t have access to anything else. WE CANT PROVE IT.

“I still think DK and FD are corrupt as ever.”
I think you are too naive to understand how the world works. Do you also think Enron was trustworthy? The cards didn’t fall for years.

You said, “Are you one of those people who also believe sports are rigged? If so, why would you watch? Why would you keep playing? Why would you give your money or invest your time?”

Am I not allowed my opinion? Am I not allowed to think differently? Am I not allowed to give a crap about something I love? I love DFS, but it’s people like you who are full of themselves and have no respect for others. I’m not allowed an opinion because it’s different than yours…that’s the mentality. Can I not invest my money into a fair game? Is that too much to ask? Should I stop playing and not give a damn? Should I let the sheep win?

You said, “Wrong. We do. It’s been independently verified.”
This law firm cleared Ethan, not Draftkings. This law firm also CANT guarantee no wrongdoing. If I burned a random house down in a random town, could people guarantee I did it? There would be no evidence. Get my point, we believe it’s 100% accurate and true, but only 1 person really knows.

    cor·rup·tion
    kəˈrəpSH(ə)n/
    noun
    1.
dishonest or fraudulent conduct by those in power, typically involving bribery.

I’m sorry you are on such a high horse.

i was talking about all the states banning dfs not the baseless lawsuits. from what i have read the lawsuits wont get off the ground since anyone who has played on these sites has already agreed to arbitration if they have a grievance in lieu of filing a class action suit as a condition of signing up on the site (which was something i thought was interesting that is was in the TOS when i signed up)

Fair point, indeed, but DK changed its TOS for scriptgate….sooooooo I guess we’ll just have to wait and see if anything happens to the so called “APEX Predators”…….or the sites themselves when it plays out or is dismissed.

Of course, we are talking about an unregulated industry….

+1 The report answered one specific question about one specific action. That’s all it did. AG’s and lawsuits (can you spell DISCOVERY) will sort out the rest.

I don’t think anyone here thought Ethan did anything wrong, the issue I have is that they just give sensitive data to Ethan.

They need to treat this information like it is highly classified and only people with a “Top Secret” clearance can get a hold of it.

I’m not one of them, but there is def some on RG who think he did something wrong. Read the posts in this thread.

ESPN has a vested interested in the success of DFS so of course there goi g come out with a positive story line. Bottom line is DFS isn’t going any where. It makes too much money for some very weathly individuals who have a lot of influence and power. This is only a money grab by the govt and individual states. In the end it will only hurt us, the players, in the form of higher rakes & fees. That’s all I have to say about this…

  • Jrstobbe82

TOS can be thrown out by any good lawyer

  • Jrstobbe82

What will happen is players like you and me will be hit with higher fees in the form of rake while playing on these sites.

Yeah, you do. I never attacked you personally. I never called you a name, I have no idea who you are outside of what you wrote in that post and only recognize your name cause of your avatar. If you think I attacked you as a person, I apologize, but I also KINDLY suggest you develop some thicker skin. I never sad you were a bad person or demeaned you. If we walked down the same street, I would have no idea who you are.

The investigation verified what Draft Kings has stated since day one. That’s good enough for me and that’s what this entire thread is about. It’s not about anything else. It’s about Ethan being cleared.

You are the one that brought up Draft Kings & Fanduel and corruption. Not me. You are the one that turned this into a personal matter. Not me. You are the one that attacked me personally. I did not attack you personally. I have no idea who you are. I asked a question at the end of my post because IN MY OPINION

You are wasting your time if a) you do not want the best for the game and b) you believe Fanduel & Draft Kings are corrupt. I asked that of anyone.

If you really think I attacked you personally, again, I apologize, but my post speaks differently and I even said I wasn’t trying to start a fight with you.

Read what you wrote originally, read what I wrote, then read what you wrote in response. Who attacked who?

  • deactivated70850

Lets make up and call it a day. I apologize for being emotional and speaking in an ignorant manner to you. Lets move on and hope this gets better. Best of luck man. I really wish I would’ve thought about it before posting and it’s not right to attack others for their opinion. Take care and good night. Hope we are good now! Emotional time man. See you around.

    Cmon man…

They reported on the ‘scandal’ like everyone else. They ran an ‘Outside The Lines’ on it. Now they ran this report because they are biased in favor of DFS? They ran it because it is their responsibility and it’s news.

I would bet my FD balance that NYT will run an article attacking that this was an investigator hired by DK like so many others are doing.

  • Ybjfk

GT, is a great law firm. GT would do nothing to dishonor its brand. However, all law firms are made up of Partners, and a Partner would do anything to keep and gain business. One day DK is going to go public. GT wants to be a part of that. On the other hand, they found, and none of us conducted a 2 week investigation (and I know they billed the hell out of this), that Ethan did nothing wrong. Until another party comes along that has devoted a similar amount of resources, I think all of must agree with this report.

  • hellokitty7

I am happy that this worked out and he doesn’t have to return any of his winnings. However, until i know that DFS employees cannot access realtime information or roster information, there still exists the possibility of impropriety. Beit in the past or the future. I think all DFS should come up with some more secure collective regulations outside the, they can’t play other sites, which could be overcome. Again, happy Ethan gets his well-earned pay day! i just think until there is more transparency it invites unneeded attention as we are seeing in the past week.

I haven’t commented much on this stuff but the media portrayal of this unfortunate situation has been rushed and many articles were published without any actual proof. It’s nice to see actual timelines of it showing Ethan couldn’t have used it in the way that it was widely reported, unfortunately this story will get 1/10th the coverage that the original jump to conclusion sensationalized articles got. I saw this whole thing go down live on twitter/forums as I have with most of the other “scandals” over the past three years. It seemed to me that he got the info after the official fanduel lock and since it would have been percentage’s using DK’s pricing with salary variance it probably wouldn’t even offer as much of an advantage as the typical Thursday percentages articles seen everywhere that actually applies to the site he’s playing on. At the end of the day none of it matters, the hornet’s nest was kicked and it really seems this was inevitable. DFS has been a great experience for me since I started on Draftstreet, sad to see it going out like this. I love you all #FreeEthan

  • eKing

The one big thing I’ve picked up on is low owned players win GPP, STLCards states that’s how he has won most of his. So, FD and DK need to give access to percents easier. It sucks clicking each persons name 1 by 1. Why not make it like DraftDay and have a tab for players percentage owned in that particular contest? Holy **** that would help so many people out.

Over time, we too would develop a better sense of who will be highly owned or not. It seems Ethan did nothing wrong other than having the luxury of working with these numbers daily. By this constant repetition, it’s easy to catch on to the trends of who or who isn’t being played industry wide. Again, no reason we can’t see them easier as well. I should be able to click on the FD milli maker and click on a “owned” tab and see every single player and their %…. So simple, but why is it not there????

You know those godawful comments sections of articles (particularly political ones) that make you lose a little faith in humanity? That is slowly what this forum is becoming…

So because Ethan’s was not showing his losses, you have to assume he wasn’t playing a lot of LU’s? oh and that heater is nowhere near insane compared to what runs some guys go on lol

This has been shown to be untrue. People tried to find a similar run, of close to that length. No one has.

Yeah nothing wrong besides being incompetent enough to release the information that he did while games were going on and causing a national uproar/scandal that may cause criminal charges and the outright banning of DFS. Nothing wrong at all.

  • Vigilantes

SI article titled ‘independent’ DraftKings investigation truly independent?”

From what I can see, no one has a clue how much Ethan profited during his run. There are more investigations. what good is it doing to continue to attack the sites and Ethan in here. When the whole damn thing gets shut down, will you be happy?

The issues with DFS are public, investigations are in progress..if there was any wrongdoing it will likely come out. Even if it doesn’t, processes will be put in place to secure the systems and data. To continue to drag Ethan and the industry through the mud with nothing more than speculation accomplishes nothing positive.

  • fadein34

Nice to hear but let’s not confuse this result with the actual problem. I said from the start the issue wasn’t ownership % and Ethan winning 350k. It was employees had access to data prior to games locking (late swap sites we know for a fact). And to be fair, we don’t have computer logs, email logs, or phone records. Let’s take a wait and see approach on all news, good or bad.

Nothing legally wrong, just a very very very stupid mistake. Like Jason says “he’s a good kid. haha but I do think he should be fired for that mistake, and starting this whole mess.

  • travs424

oh great!!!! thank god they cleared that guy, so this means that they will cancel all the bills and votes to ban DFS now and I dont have to worry about them taking away the hobby i started in 2010 ????

    ooops , nope !!!!!
