Is anyone else shocked and alarmed that the GPPs are not filling up (specifically MLB Fanduel)? I was all ready to whine that the sizes were too small for the traffic I was expecting and I was so far off.

    Edit: Sport, Site

We are 4 days into the season. I don’t think this is a sign of MLB demand. Give it time as NBA winds down. These will start filling again.

Yeah, I mean on Monday the big all day contest started at 1 PM … on a MONDAY.

NBA doesn’t have to put up with start times like that, and as such there was prob more overlay than expected

This combined with the early lock and work kept me from playing today outside of dabbling on SportsTradex. I just couldn’t get comfortable with any of my lineups on the bigger sites so I sat out and will be happy to have that money in play tomorrow and through the weekend.

Thanks for the shoutout! Hope you enjoyed our MLB games.

Is there any thought that the overlay may be intentional? By inducing players to increase their amount of action the first week of a new sport by throwing more entries in to take advantage of overlay, the sites may be willing to eat some losses to get players comfortable with a larger amount of daily action.

I’m sure it is. Overlay isn’t actually as brutal for the sites as you might think. Usually once I create a lineup on a site I enter it in several contests. I imagine I’m not the only person like this. The big hurdle is getting me to create that initial LU. Yesterday on DK, I played the early slate. I had no plans to play late. Opened my phone and noticed massive overlay in the Payoff Pitch. I threw a lineup together. Once I had that lineup, I started looking around and joined some cash games and I actually deposited even more money to take advantage of overlay. I ended up cashing and now I have a larger than normal roll on DK. This will likely lead to me playing more contests than I should tonight. So while DK overlayed yesterday, unless I take that money off right away they can still win some of it back. Plus I’m likely to stick around on the site as I get comfortable just like you said. For people learning a new sport, boosting their confidence by letting them win a lot is the best way to get them hooked.

at this point in the MLB season, LU’s are still being adjusted, making DFS research even more time consuming. In a month, it’ll be more reasonable and i’ll play more.

Huge overlay in the Grand Slam tonight. Only around 8000 entries filled out of 11900 or whatever it was. This must not be looking good for FD.

  • einars

result of that overlay? currently (70min till lock) there are ZERO gpps in the FD lobby under $200…..i am sure they will throw some dinky ones in there before lock but still…
