For those new to the DFS world, Overlay is a player’s best friend.
DFS Operators are required to guarantee an amount of money in their prize pools. If the entry fees from players don’t reach the guaranteed prize pool amount, the site is forced to pay the difference out of pocket.
This means free money for players, and the opportunity for a positive expected value move.
At the time of this posting, 2:30 ET, both StarsDraft and Draftpot’s $10 buyin $100,000 Guaranteed Tourneys are set to overlay.
As of 8 AM ET there are just over 3300 entries, over $65,000 in Overlay. The cap on the contest is 11,250. The breakeven (no overlay) number of entries is 10,000. This could easily overlay 40%. There is a “No Train” rule in this contest – each lineup from each individual user must be unique. That will help preserve this overlay as the clock ticks down.
Double your prize promo – The RotoGrinders-referred player that finishes highest in week 1 gets his prize doubled. This could net you an extra $10,000.

As of 8 AM ET, Draftpot is at 3200 out of 11,000 entries. 10,000 again is the breakeven point. Significant overlay is in the cards.

Fanduel and DraftKings
There will be overlay in many tournaments on both Fanduel and DraftKings. Both sites have such large player bases that it’s difficult to predict how many entries come in at the end, but 20% or more is likely in some of these tourneys.
If you see any overlay that could end up in the 30-50% range (and don’t mind sharing) please post it in this thread.
