Tell me if this would anger anyone as much as it angers me. Last night, I set my MLB lineup on OTP with Maeda as my pitcher (priced at the floor of $3000).

This morning, I received the following email:

“Hi We are emailing all affected parties
we caught a bug 9 hours before roster lock and priced Kenta Maeda to his REAL Value.

    You had drafted Kenta.

We didn’t intend for this error. Please make the needed adjustments

    The OwnThePlay Team”

Maeda’s priced was thus changed to $6800 that same day after salaries and contests were already available and many had already entered contests. Thus, some users had an extreme advantage if they had entered their lineups in the previous night and got a saving of $3800 on Maeda in their lineups.

I emailed OTP today and tried to explain to them how egregious an error they made in changing Maeda’s price that would take affect the same day as the price change, but they seem to not understand.

    Yeah that’s pretty bad.

That email makes it sound like they changed his price and made any lineups with him invalid. Is that not what happened?

Well there’s a site to not play on.

The guys who run OTP are legit stupid, doubt you’ll get through to them. They seem so unprofessional, had his brother playing heavy volume on site, their Twitter and online posts never have correct spelling or grammar and this is like the third time they’ve severely messed up pricing on a player($300 for Courtney Lee)

“We didn’t intend for this error.”

Is this site run in another country and they use Google Translate for all communication?

  • Chatlin1

Walk that is exactly what happened. Further the point NO player had an advantage over another because we sent out this email. Very simple have this error affect hundreds of people that will enter MLB or the few before the email went out. Note: this email didn’t come midday it was sent before 10:30AM EST with over 8 and a half hours to make a change.

    My grammar always sux :/

Disregard Chatlin’s comment because that is exactly NOT what happened. I was still able to play with my original lineup when Maeda was priced at $3000, giving me an extreme advantage over the field of players who played Maeda later.

As you can see from the owner of OTP’s response above (chatlin1), this site is sadly run by a bunch of incompetent idiots.

Numerous price issue exist, including Jimmy Butler being priced at the floor on day and Justin verlander being priced at the floor two days ago.

Stolen bases have not been recorded for dfs points so far this season, even though they count for points under MLB scoring.

I would implore anyone thinking of joining OTP to look elsewhere for dfs action. I will be taking my money to other sites run by competent people.

    Definitely looks bush league.

I stay up all night researching and building my lines. If I woke up the next day and FanDuel changed pricing killing my research/lineups, I’d be furious.

And judging from above, the site is not in good hands. Sorry this happened to you, Run.

Yeah, unfortunately this looks like the only suitable option for players of OTP. It is a shame because I really like seeing ownership percentages before lineup lock. It is a really cool feature.

As you can see the response from their error is extremely underwhelming. This is their email response: “I can tell you are upset. We never want or intend anything but fun. I assure you no one got any price savings. IF somehow I am proven incorrect OwnThePlay will compensate accordingly.

For the records: We found and fixed the error before 10am EST which gave people 9hours to adjust. We blasted emails to all affected players.
We all look forward to this never happening again.”

So sending out an email nullifies the price advantage some users have by setting their lineups early and getting Maeda at $3000 vs $6800 for those who set their lineups later in the day??? Chatlin and the staff at OTP are completely incompetent.

Chatlin was also the bonehead who thought it was an intelligent idea to have his brother as the only Pro player on OTP. Unbelievable stupidity all around.

They payout super fast. Got a $75 WD today in a couple of hours.

The site clearly isn’t perfect, but I will keep playing there

So the main good thing about the site according to you is that they pay out quickly? Got it

  • sjm26b

Doesn’t seem like the site is going to last very long due to a dearth of DFS fund and poor management. Kind of sad

Sjm, would you mind screen shotting your lineup and to show that it ended up being over the cap?

It’s kind of hard to do that b/c it doesn’t show a total of your salary on the site, and only shows a player’s salary when you click on the player and can only see one player salary at a time.

The team I put together on 4/6 consisted of
    Maeda $6800
    Mesoraco $4500
    Zimmerman $4200
    Frazier $4700
    C Seager $5300
    Harper $6500
    A. Jones $5200
    McCutchen $5700
    C. Davis $6200

This totals $53800 on a salary cap of $50000
