While as of now these are suggestions it looks like the PGCB wants shotgun partnerships with casinos and language of gambling plus ring fencing. Stay tuned. The meeting is June 1.

As a PA resident can’t say I’m not disappointed in these “findings.” When the issue came up last year I wrote to my local rep and will now plan on doing so again and if possible attending the next hearing on the issue.

I’d wait for a bill to hit the printer first or even a strong suggestion from a legislator.

Saw a report that suggests that they want to tie online poker to DFS and regulate them the same way. Fine with online poker, but there is no way DFS can be regulated the same way. Writing may need to happen soon!

With the way PA operates im not too worried. It takes forever to get anything done.

If they want something done like a pay raise, they’d get it. Good news is Penn National hasn’t contributed to many politicians as of late but they own a lot of state buildings. Unlike Nevada, there are also 2 metro areas with 7 major sports teams, Comcast (FanDuel) and no sportsbook to compete with.

No wonder the PA Gaming Control Board wants DFS regulated like a casino. Gotta pay for those 150k part time gigs with travel perks. Keep this in mind when writing your legislators:

Lots of guys from the Philly area. I can say with certainty losing PA would hurt the industry badly. I can also say with certainty PA and the localities have received tax revenue from DFS whether directly AND indirectly as in my case along with writers.

Online poker legislation is on the docket and there are rumors there might be DFS legislation tacked on. That would not be good. Another point of emphasis is DFS has a lesser velocity of revenue than poker which has games all the time so the licensing fees and shotgun partnerships with casinos would be lethal for DFS if poker legislation applies. No bill is out yet but won’t be surprised if one pops up in the next few weeks.

Definitely worrisome…but I’m hoping it’s more of the same really – lots of talk, and little action.

I’m also in Lower Bucks – hate to lose this when I finally have figured out how to do slightly average at DFS. :)

From Harrisburg but have lived in Northern California since 11’. PA Needs to get on board but i’m all to familiar with the states reluctance to ‘come around’ on things.

In PA’s case, I’d rather see no action than bad action. I want regulation but not in the form of a shotgun partnership or onerous taxes and licensing fees.

So does HB 649 include DFS? Is it casinos have the option to offer DFS or is this forced for DK and FD? If so this is sneaky!

I’d wait till something hits the printer. Even then, I wouldn’t be angry just mention how DFS can’t be regulated like poker due to lower volume.

    Some tips for writing:

    - Resident of PA/Your constituent

    - I support many PGCB Fantasy Sports Report common sense consumer protections

    - I don’t support onerous shotgun partnerships with casinos and onerous licensing fees and taxes online poker can. Need to emphasize DFS has much smaller velocity and volume than online poker

    - Support HB 649 without DFS Amendments and thinks it should be regulated under the Department of Revenue with a Gross Receipts tax of players from the Commonwealth

Money where mouth is: Sent to my Rep and Rep John Payne, sponsor of HB 649 online gambling legislation.

I should have also mentioned the Full House is in session today at 11a and HB 649 is on the schedule. Adverse DFS legislation could be tacked on as an Amendment. Can’t watch it but it’s on PCN Channel 186 Xfinity.

Hmm well this could determine whether I remain a PA resident or not. Lived here all my life but have been holding off and buying a house. I’m single and have a job where I could work anywhere in the country so I guess we’ll see what happens. Curious to what updates you guys find

I’m rooting for online poker but as a standalone and no DFS attachments. There’s a common theme between PA, NY and IL.
