    Super bowl time.

    Don’t. Too early. Hope you’re right though! E! A! G! L! E! S! EAGLES!

  • sethayates

Which Eagles you talking about? The first half Eagles or the second half Eagles? Those are two different teams.

  • AtGame7

Week 2 always brings this out, right now Browns fans are booking trips to the SuperBowl just like they do every September. Come November they will be talking about their first round pick in the coming draft.

The more things change the more they stay exactly the same.

Eagles have looked terrible in both games, but somehow managed to win. I assume this post is ironic.

Exactly, they look like shit but are still 2-0. What happens when they stop looking like shit? Did you watch football last season? Eventually they are gonna start clicking. Look out when that happens.

Tough to say they’ve looked “terrible” overall when they lead the league in both total yards and points per game through 2 weeks. Their defense has been pretty average overall, but was able to stop Andrew Luck when they needed to in the 4th quarter.

Obviously they haven’t played great in the first halves of either game, but I think “terrible” is a bit of an overstatement.

    Fwiw.

Eagles lose if the Refs don’t blow that Hilton no-call late in the game.

  • slinkymaster

    They’ve played 2 games….

You can’t look at that WR corps or Foles and call that a championship team.

You mean the no call within 5 yards of the line of scrimmage?

    And he barely touched him.

Agree the WR corps is below average, although I think Jordan Matthews will continue to develop. The jury is still out on Foles.

But they likely have the best backfield in the NFL with McCoy and Sproles.

They also have probably the best offensive line in the NFL when healthy (Mathis and Lane Johnson currently out).

They also have Chip Kelly calling plays. If they aren’t a contender, I’d be very surprised if their offense is the reason.

Agreed, in fact there is no way a team would ever win a championship with garbage WRs like Doug Baldwin, Percy Harvin, Jermaine Kearse, Ricardo Lockette, Golden Tate, and Bryan Walters……….What’s that you say? Someone did win a championship with those recievers? Nevermind, carry on then.

  • terrymandangle

And they’re gonna be a 2nd half team all year. That’s the way Chip has them trained, to take advantage of the other team being tired late in games because they aren’t as conditioned as the Eagles.

Side note: I haven’t watched the 1st half of either game bc of family stuff. Only watched the 2nd half of both games. They know when I’m watching and play much better. ;)

Seattle’s D is a bit better than Philly’s tho Seth.

Lollll.. Cmon man. Refs can call a penalty on every single play if they want. The wr totally flopped trying to get a call. He deserved us getting an interception for trying to win like that. And wait, luck still had his chance for a winning drive after that . but the birds stopped him in his tracks…we are built just like the saints team that won the super bowl against manning and his colts. This year us Eagles are gona beat manning and his broncos in da super bowl….champions!!!!!!! On the road to victory E A G L E S

  • terrymandangle

And why was Luck even throwing in that situation to begin with? Here you go Ahmad Bradshaw, run 3 feet so Vinateri can kick a fg and ice this. That’s all it would have taken. Stupid decisions deserve stupid results.

We’re not going anywhere if Foles doesn’t step his game up. He looks awful right now.

Again, “awful” seems like a bit of an overstatement. He has been below average though and has certainly missed throws he needs to be able to make. This past game I thought he looked better. He wasn’t quite as “jumpy” in the pocket as he was against Jacksonville, especially in the first half of that game. They need to convert 3 trips in the red zone in the first half in to more than 6 points. But I think part of that blame goes on the play calling (and a Riley Cooper dropped TD). Cooper is useless by the way.

I think losing the vertical threat of DJax has hurt Foles so far. Teams have no reason to play off the WR’s and can push their safeties up. Foles just doesn’t have as much huge open space to throw in to so far this year. Thankfully he has two RB’s that are two of the best in the NFL in the passing game. He also has a great up in coming TE in Zach Ertz that can stretch the seam. But overall, I absolutely agree that Foles needs to be better.

It goes well beyond just missing throws. His decision making is main problem, imo. Last year he was identifying the mismatches and attacking them quickly. This year is clearly different. He’s holding onto the ball way too long, throwing into tight coverage and not finding open guys.

  • Stewburtx8

    • 2012 FanDuel WFBC Finalist

I definitely agree, at times. I just don’t think there are as many open guys this year. I said from the beginning that this offense wasn’t going to run as “easy” without Desean Jackson. The threat that Desean provided opened the field for everyone else. It even allowed a mediocre/below average WR like Cooper to produce a 800+ yard and 8 TD season. Matthews needs to be more involved in the game plan.

This offense has to reinvent itself, which it’s already doing by using Sproles more than expected. They just need to stick with Ertz more as well in my opinion. But I don’t expect things to be as easy for Foles this year either. He still can absolutely improve though.

  • looningabout

listening to WIP the last two days I don’t think the majority of Eagles fans have unrealistic expectations for the season. plenty of suspicion for Foles, WRs, secondary, and lack of sacks (granted Fletcher Cox has been a monster so far). let’s go bird gang, fly eagles fly

  • terrymandangle

I don’t think it’s unrealistic to expect the Division title at the very least right? Were they sloppy in the 1st 2 games? Yes. But, the rest of the NFC East is a trainwreck. I don’t think it’s unrealistic to say this team could win 12 games this season. That is generally good enough for a bye at the very least and possibly home field. Will they win 12? I doubt it but they will win the division for sure. Anything can happen in the playoffs. I had the Eagles at 11-5 this season. One of those losses was supposed to come Monday night. Arizona, SF, GB and home vs Seattle and Carolina. REALLY tough games. But they will be favored in every other game this season. And might even be favored Arizona and vs Carolina.

  • sheepies

I love the review my fellow birds fans. Very good insight. Foles definitely has to play better. I just think he’s trying to adjust to players being less open then they were last year. It all starts with the loss of Jackson…the number 1 problem by far is Riley cooper. He should change his name to pooper. Man he is so bad. He is nowhere to be found on the field. I wanted us to draft Brandon cooks so bad. He’s gona be the best reciever from the draft. I watched him at Oregon state. He’s next jerry rice. Anyway I hate that we signed cooper.he’s goto go. We got enough talent to win with him though. Come playoff time foles will be in rythem and we winning the superrrr bowl…go EAGLES
