I apologize if this is rambling and incoherent but I’m at work on my phone so I’m am trying to reach out for some quick help. I received a message after I tried to enter a contest on FD that I was unauthorized due to my location and I have lived in the same house in PA for the last 10 years, actually lived in the area my whole life but not important. I played and deposited last night so not sure what the issue is here. I’ve reached out to support hope to hear something soon and I hope this is just a mix up of some kind. Any advice would be appreciated and hopefully a rep from fanduel will see this and be able to help me out. I’ve played on their site just about everyday for the last 2+ years so hopefully hey can get this straightened out for me quickly so I can go back to cursing at the tv watching some NBA tonight.

I have the same issue trying to enter contests on my phone (I’m in NE). Works fine from my home PC, but not my phone. It isn’t that big of a deal to me so I haven’t emailed support but sounds like you may want to check with FD.

I decided to check my profile and for some reason the city and state were not filled out. I’m guessing that was the problem, still haven’t heard back and I still can’t enter anything after I put in the city and state but I’m assuming they have to do something on their end. I will try my pc when I get home though, thanks.

Are you connected to WiFi or mobile data?

Mobile data now, yesterday was the same though and I could enter.

I had an issue with draftday yesterday on their mobile site, their support told me to just restart my phone and it worked fine after that. Not sure if you tried, just throwing the suggestion out there.

Tried that, no go. I think it has something to do with the location being blank in my profile but who knows. I had access to everything yesterday and today I’m in an unauthorized location even though I’m not. Still waiting to hear from fanduel hopefully it’s a simple fix and I can get back at it.

I’m in CT and getting that message.

Same problem here in Pittsburgh PA. I can enter contests fine from my PC, but I get the “restricted state” error message when entering on my phone through the app or the website. Very frustrating. FanDuel reps asked me to try several things, none of which worked.
    Restart your phone.
Make sure the app is up-to-date.
Make sure the Locations service on your phone is turned on.
Try connecting through WIFI instead of cellular (in case you’re pinging a tower in a different state).

He said they use two methods to determine your location…IP and Geolocation. Not too sure what that means, but I don’t think updating your profile will help.

He signed off the e-mail with “Thanks for playing”, when I can’t even enter a contest. I replied “screw you”, and the rep responded “thanks for getting back to me”.

Just got a response saying I need to connect to wifi to verify my location. Unfortunately I won’t be able to do that until I get home. I had access to everything yesterday with my mobile data so not sure what the issue was.

Yes it worked on wifi. Does that mean we always have to be on wifi to create lineups and enter contests?

Yeah the thanks for playing message was pretty funny since I can’t play. I’m just outside of Pittsburgh too, it sucks that you are going through it too but at least I know I’m not the only one. The thing that sucks is during the day at work I would enter contests and do a little research then finalize everything when I got home, now I guess I have to condense everything until after I get home. I’m outside all day so I have no access to wifi.

I guess I’m screwed for cfb because I would set a lineup Friday night and if there was any last minute changes I needed to make I was always able to, now it doesn’t look like I will be able to do that via phone.

I was getting the same thing on my phone. I had to go into my browser settings, and allow my localtion to be given to DK. I actually had DK blocked from my accessing that information, so I had to unblock them, and turn on location settings.

This is what I used to enable it.

So I was able to briefly connect to wifi during lunch and was able to enter a contest. After I went back to mobile data I could edit that contest so that doesn’t seem to be a problem which is good. Also after a couple of messages this was the last response I got for those who are interested,

Thanks for getting back to me. This is just a temporary delay due to some changes we had to make for certain states. It ended up affecting people in other states as well. However, once you phone realigned with our location software you will be fine going forward. You will then be able to use your phone to access FanDuel as you always did in the past. Sorry for the inconvenience for the time begin. It should be resolved shortly.

If you have any questions please let me know and I’ll be happy to help.

I finally figured it out. I had my location service turned on, but I had the wrong selection under “GPS Satellittes”. As soon as I changed it to “Locate to Street Level”, I could access FD again without needing WIFI. What a relief! Thanks for playing!
