I have been playing DFS for the last few years and I go back and forth as to whether I should play cash games. I have seen alot of discussion about the rate that you need to win 50/50s to be profitable after the rake. I think I remeber seeing the number at atound 60%. Is that true? As a low dollar, casual player, I can’t decide if it makes sense to try and grind out cash games when I will be playing against folks who put a lot more time and money into it.

Also, I remember some discussion last season about the cash line in NBA 50/50s being not much lower than the cash line in GPPs. Is that true this season?

Cash games are a scam. You are better off playing gpps and getting a lucky win once every 5 years than trying to win 60% of your 50/50s. It is nearly the same score to cash and dbl your money in gpps. Just like the casino, if your only gonna make back what you put in the house wins every time.

Scam is a little harsh of a word. Are they for everyone? No.

I’ve done pretty well over the past 3 years being a pure cash game player. Definitely not a scam.

BUT, they simply are not for everyone.

But that one night when you have the highest scoring game in a cash game……you only double your money. So with $4 you make $8…….while that same lineup clda got you 50K for the same $4.

I chose that example to show that the cash lines were different and I fell between the two. As you can see I entered both so if I scored much higher I would have done much better than 2X.

Not everyone enjoys making GPP lineups. I like making cash lineups and I throw it in a small amount of GPP just in case.

The overall point here is that what works or is true for you is not a universal thing.

Thanks for all the advice. I think for me, it would be best to stick to GPPs.
