Live. Extremely weak field on the upper end this week due to the WGC Match Play.

y’all want to play this game? expected ownership on the following guys:

    Hoge
    Van Aswegen
    J Wagner
    Dawie
    Hubbard
    Burgoon

or insert your favorite 5500-6500 golfer here

i want to play whoever of that MESS is going to be highest owned. I have hoge highest rated but I feel like a lot of people are going to go for wagner so I’m wondering if I shouldn’t just block there. if wagner were to be I think 20%+ owned I’d flip to the block otherwise probably roll hoge?

also debating hoge/vanaswegen double punt or if I should trade van aswegen for another player depending on contest format ….

    lol, this is fun …

I’ve been going Wagner out of those but mostly fading them. What about highest % owned for the tournament? Brown? Rodgers? Finau?

Edit: I think Van Aswegen will be highest owned of that group but who knows.

My guess is that Van Aswegen and Hubbard will be the highest owned, probably 12-15%, Burgoon and van der Walt, 7-9% and Hoge-Wagner lowest owned at 1-3%.

There is one thing I am 100% certain of in this tournament. I know absolutely nothing. The more research I did, the more it made me unsure of anything. So I said fkit and went through every player’s basic history and went with a gut decision on lineups. I’ll live with whatever outcome it ends up being.
Edit: The bad weather may help me… then again it may not. Another “fkit” moment.

The first round of matchplay was quite frustrating. At least ZJ managed not to choke away the full point, unlike Leishman and Willett who both halved when they should have won. Credit to Jaco van Zyl though for making some clutch putts.

For the PRO, I think I am going with a bit more balanced approach. I originally liked Haotong Li but after some more research I am going to play Burgoon as my punt. Everyone else is in the 7800-9900 range. Guess I should go enter a few tournaments.

Hopefully this 16 year old is a go getter and plays up to the competition instead of caving under the pressure of his first time on tour. I went 100% on him hoping for the badass kid side and went super heavy on the top of the salary list.

That’s aggressive – I couldn’t play him. I wish him the best as would be an awesome experience. I once missed qualifying by a shot for our local Canadian Tour event when I was 17 – ended up being 1st alternate and didn’t get in but still got to practice on the course Tues-Wed and played with a few pros. Awesome experience but in hindsight, glad I didn’t get in as it would have ruined my confidence – I was not ready for that stage (then or now! ).

I passed on the kid as I couldn’t find out what yardage they played the course from for their junior tournament – I doubt it was 7500+ yds and I’m scared that he is 135lbs and can’t hit it long enough to play the Tour tees especially if gets windy and gusty.

I just put together some GPP lineups. With this field, it felt more degenerate than playing preseason NFL.

    Nice, I went 2-1-1
Won my 2 favorites (Sneds, Garcia), lost with Fitzpatrick and pushed with Kizzire

I doubt I’m doing anything tomorrow as I can’t watch it (on the road with a 10hr drive) and the PRO is on.

Yikes I would rethink the 100% in on him.

    LOL !!

I’ll admit it – it does feel a little “dirty” to pay $9300 for Boo Weekley

I didn’t say that – just stating my decision to not play him.

The kid could be built like Rory or Mickelson, I have no idea – I didn’t know so I played who/what I did know more about.

Credit to Jaco van Zyl though for making some clutch putts.

Jaco van Zyl is playing for a possible Masters invite this week besides the Match Play.

If he can advance through his bracket (Wed-Fri), he should earn enough OWGR points to move up from #52 to inside top 50. This is last week to qualify to get inside Top 50 – after Sunday, the last possible Masters spot goes to Shell Houston Open winner next week (if not already in).

Hope he takes down Koepka tomorrow to give himself a chance.

Don’t get me wrong I know it’s aggressive. The more I looked I realized I had a good group of guys mid range I really liked and his cheap price really freed me up to make some strong picks I couldn’t have otherwise. Clearly a big gamble but hey, someone’s gotta give him a shot 😛

I totally understand – also I fully expect that a good 5/6 could get paid well this week so even if the kid misses cut, your top heavy lineup could do some damage. We won’t see 14% with 6/6 this week!

never played PGA before but wanted something to watch since NASCAR is off this weekend. Any suggestions for 6700 an under?
