The Yahoo DFS product has been around for 5 weeks now so I wanted to ask a few questions of them. There was a lot of talk about product enhancements by their reps right after the launch, but we have yet to see anything come to fruition. Given the user base, I think Yahoo has a lot of promise heading into NFL season so I’m really hoping they can make the necessary improvements over the next month.

Can a Yahoo rep provide an update on when we should see the following enhancements:

    1) Ownership percentages
    2) Lineup export
    3) Global Player Swap
    4) Decent live scoring views
    5) Player results tracking by 3rd party sites like RG

    Thank you

player results are only good if the RG user allows RG to track them. I would like to see a downloadable roster or file like FF has so after games lock so you can see all players that everyone chasing you has left. I know some sites have this and not sure why others will not add it.

    1) Ownership percentages have been added.

    2) Lineup export inexplicably has not been added.

    3) Global player swap inexplicably has not been added.

    4) Live scoring is fine although there is no central sweat screen.

    5) Does not exist as far as I know.

They’ve made minor tinkering to their product but it’s pretty clear basic features such as both lineup and salary exports remain a low priority.

  • chuckyduce

Ahh I see ownership % on the web version now…nothing on the app though.

I believe this is intentional, rather than something they just haven’t gotten around to. I believe it’s an attempt to prevent the trains from gobbling up all the spots in lower stakes contests.

I agree and I think it is fine if they keep it like this (with regards to limiting the ability for gamers to scale up their volume), otherwise it is going to end up with waaaaaay too many of their season long people having a bad experience and not trying DFS again.

Once they do go the route of adding global swap and mass entry capabilities, you will see the site be overrun by the same volume gamers that inhabit the lobbies on DK and FD.

Yahoo has a very captive audience/user-base, so it would be a shame to see them waste that asset before they have a plan in place.

    Just my random thoughts.

  • chuckyduce

All fair points…I still think a better mobile and web experience would do a lot for their platform and potential growth. The live scoring is next to impossible to follow on the app.

  • TheLumberjack

Yahoo appears to be a direct knock-off of FanDuel to me. Yahoo needs a better variety and more innovative concepts if you ask me.

Yes. very true Chucky, the app is horrible. It seems to show about 2x the entries I really have in play and it is hard as hell to navigate…so I just gave up checking things there until the next morning.

Player minutes/innings remaining would be a nice feature too if they want to enhanced the “sweat” experience.

  • chuckyduce

Yep. Same. On the Friday after the All Star break I won every GPP on the site and didn’t even know until the next day when I checked.

I don’t know if it is intentional or not, but I really like Yahoo’s daily $25 SP special (Tues it was Dickey, yesterday Keyvius, today Nova). For those who don’t play there, they take a random mid/lower tier SP and price him at $25 and you have a decision to make—punt the SP position and take their daily special to pay for bats or pass on the special and be forced to take a bunch of their $7-$8 hitters. Their salary cap is pretty tight so this opens up the slate to a ton of possibilities. It’s an improvement over DraftStreet’s option to draft a RP but without the annoyance of drafting a player who never sees game time.

You WON or placed money in? I checked the 3 GPPs on July 17th and am for certain that you did not win them all.

So you go by Andrew on Yahoo and not chukyduce? chuckyduce is your alias on all the other DFS sites.

For those gamers that already had Yahoo accounts, it took our names already in our existing profiles if that was what we used to play under (and at least at that time, we could not edit them…I do not know if that has changed).

  • EadesScience

Thanks Emac….I was curious about that. I have played Yahoo since 2008 as Snotrockets. You can easily change the name to whatever you wish. This is why I was inquisitive. Also, your comment is why RG can not or will have a hard time tracking player results in the statistics. I hope there will be a fix for this soon. I just found it interesting that Andrew went by chuckyduce on all the other DFS sites and the way that Yahoo is set up there is no way to actually contradict that Andrew is not chuckyduce. No offense Chucky. I was just curious.

  • chuckyduce

Not my choice. I would like to go by chuckyduce (old poker handle) on Yahoo as well, but as far as I can tell that isn’t possible at this point. Hoping they change that soon so that RG can track results. As you may have guessed…my actual name is indeed Andrew.

Yes, I could not change my “nickname” though I think I have had this account since around 2004ish so who knows what has been locked with that field since then, all I was able to find is this:

    Updates to Yahoo Profile

Yahoo Profile (profile.yahoo.com) no longer exists. But don’t worry – your comments on various Yahoo properties didn’t disappear! Most relevant settings are now in your account settings. We simply removed the ability to view public profiles and the “about me” and “my interests” sections.

    Why?

Yahoo Profile was created to let you view public info about others. With Yahoo, you could check out profile pictures, nicknames, and comment histories as well as manage your own publicly visible settings. It never quite took off. Very few people look at other people’s public profiles, so we switched our focus to the things that matter to you most.

What does this mean for you?

You can still post comments on the various Yahoo properties and your Yahoo nickname and profile pic still exist.

Right now, you aren’t able to edit your profile picture, nickname, gender, or date of birth from within your account settings. We greatly appreciate your patience while we work to update this and create new ways to personalize your account.

  • EadesScience

emac….I just discovered this as well. You could change your handle a couple of months ago. Maybe Yahoo is trying to fix the profile nickname situation so that 3rd parties can track players.

  • chuckyduce

$1M guaranteed for a $10 entry (1000 max) is great Yahoo! Unfortunately without an export button or global player replace it is going to be next to impossible to get a lot of entries into this thing. Please add this functionality before Week 1 or you are going to have massive overlay.

  • jnazzaro

    Yahoo Rep

I am catching up on a couple RG threads….

We are working on the export and global player replace functionality and should have it ready by week 1. Unfortunately, there is no way for users to change your nickname but I can get it done for you. Send me a message with your Yahoo ID, current nickname and what you would like it update, and I can get it done.

I’ve got one: What do you guys have against the Nats Joe Ross? He’s starting today in STL and you have him not in the lineup.

I posted about this in another thread. There are several pitchers showing as not starting. Shoemaker, Nicolino, Ross

Time for Yahoo to get another intern or something….
