      RG Overall Ranking

    4 par 5’s all under 560 yards

This always brings me to the same conflict when something about a course is extremely easy or hard.

Do we target bombers and par 5 scoring, or do we kind of assume the holes are so easy that everyone is going to be able to take advantage, and look for guys who do other things well.

Well not that it ultimately matters but I prefer guys starting on hole 10 on Thursday this week. This means they get to finish on holes 10 thru 18 on Friday with 3 par 5s and most of the easier holes if they are closer to the cut. It really doesn’t matter in the long run because they still have to play all the holes, but I know for sweating the cut you get deflated when a guy is hovering the cut and has to finish on the front 9 on this course. All those holes have averaged over par the last 4 times the tournament was on this course. A couple are not terrible but either way they have 6 holes coming home with not a single par 5.

Here are holes 3 thru 9
    hole par yards +/- Rk
    3 4 437 0.028 12
    4 3 197 0.093 6
    5 4 433 0.031 11
    6 4 458 0.112 5
    7 3 156 0.065 8
    8 4 485 0.198 3
    9 4 414 0.062 9

It’s funny, about two months ago there was 3 guys jumping out at me and I never heard a single tout or pro talk/tweet about them and even the talk on here about them was minimal – I just knew they were going to be surprisingly higher owned than all the forecasted ownership because the pros were keeping them quiet and for themselves.

Unless I am way off with a few of the guys jumping out at me, the same thing is happening again this week – they are playing head games by talking and touting stars and scrubs lineup options while I believe they are all playing DJ (maybe some pivots to Kuchar) and then 5 guys between 7K and 8500.

Are these touts sitting around a table out in the middle of no where with a shaky camera and picking Jason Day to win this event?

Good point. The big hitters still have the advantage either way.

While referring to the course stats, we will see several streaks on holes 18 thru 2 this week but when this happens only half the field has a real shot at it each day since only players starting on 10 make that turn. We will also maybe see some guys birdie holes 16 thru 2 if they can wrangle that par 4 17 into a birdie which is the 4th hardest hole.

here is the entire course scoring.
    hole par yards +/- Rk
    1 4 417 -0.063 14
    2 5 527 -0.393 17
    3 4 437 0.028 12

    5 4 433 0.031 11
    6 4 458 0.112 5
    7 3 156 0.065 8
    8 4 485 0.198 3
    9 4 414 0.062 9
    10 4 443 0.033 10
    11 4 452 0.088 7
    12 3 202 0.214 2
    13 5 558 -0.277 15
    14 4 457 0.299 1
    15 3 141 -0.002 13
    16 5 516 -0.505 18

Yeah that was so dumb last week, i hope no one actually fell for that crap.

    Ollie ownership predictions?

Remember Ollie has scorecard risk. I’m still playing him though.

I’m not a Rotogrinders premium member, but I would guess Ollie’s one of the highest owned all week. He was part of the 7.5k players I was talking about. STLCardinals put up a video with Chad Campbell though, so he might not be missed by people now.

I’m off all Canandians. History of poor showings at their home course.

So do people only play Charley Hoffman so they showing winnings on Thursdays?

    There’s a better way…just pick

Harris English, Scott Brown, Bob Estes, Geoff Ogilvy, Shane Bertsch, and JT Poston.

I guarantee if you do, you’ll be seeing “Currently winning (a large number)” at 7:20 AM EST on Thursday. (A large number) usually would be 100k, but smart minds think alike so maybe we’ll see multiple lineups of these 6 players.

You mean the premium service articles? Who writes those? I don’t have access to any of those so just wondering.

For me it’s a bunch of my Twitter follows tweeting out random stuff (like Mayo and a few “pros” who have placed high in past DK finals), the occasional podcast (I only have a 5 minute attention span because as soon as someone says something wrong or stupid, I have to shut it off before I come unglued) and I usually check in on a couple Periscope Q&A’s during the week and in those I watch for who is not being mentioned and what the person says when one of those unmentioned guys gets asked about (you can log in and text comments/questions for those on here that never used Periscope – I often text those names out and see if they respond or ignore as well).

There are so many chalky guys around 7.5k, it’s hard to decide. I have some Hadwin too, but it’s kind of scary having him.

I dont know how one could play Hadwin with reavie, campbell, tway, luck and even stallings ( coming off a T5 ) ? But maybe he will be low owned and thats the angle?

    J.B. Holmes it is then!

Yah He is one of them who there has not been as much noise on as there should be (or what I thought): long hitter, hits a fade, made 5 straight cuts with two top 12’s and besides an MC here in ’05 he also has a 16th a while back.

Are you asking why I am going to play Hadwin or why anyone would play him?

I have multiple lineups, so it’s not like I have Hadwin that much. I have some % of Hadwin though because honestly, how can you differentiate between Hadwin, Reavie, Campbell, etc. To me, they are almost all equal ability/talent, so I want to mix my exposure up a bit. I don’t have Hadwin for cash if that’s what you are asking, so you can tell I’m not that high on him.

This week seems too easy…so I know im going to lose tons of money. I just finished all of my bets on bovada and somebody like Hoffman winning scares the shit out of me

  • specvspeed03

For the record last week seemed easy too…I had bets on Spieth, Kuchar, and Koepka and that worked out pretty well

  • Jacobkaiser1325

How do you guys feel about Woodland this week? Don’t love him but I need a guy under 8K besides Tway, Campbell, Ollie and Reavie

I don’t disagree as there has been some MC’s across a lot of them and DeLaet our top ranked player the last few years has been a huge disappointment, but keep in mind all but one time it has been at Glen Abbey there always seems to be a 🇨🇦 who Top 10’s and not always the one you expect

    2016 Du Toit 9th
    2015 Hearn 3rd and Hadwin 7th
    2013 none
    2009 Ames T8 and Baryla T8 – yah I know “who?”
    2008 Weir T5
2004 Weir lost playoff to VJ

This wrap-around 2016-17 season has easily been the best year by Canadians on Tour since the early 2000’s when Mike Weir was winning multiple times in a season and wearing a green jacket; we’ve seen both Hadwin and Hughes win this year on the PGA Tour, Taylor has posted multiple top 10’s, Hearn has a couple of recent top 10’s, DeLaet has multiple top 10’s, last week Austin Connelly played in the second last group on Sunday, Du Toit as an amateur last year Top 10’d. Canada is holding its own in terms of talent and we have more regulars on the PGA Tour than we have had in a long time, maybe ever.

I’m only playing one 🇨🇦 this week but I don’t think playing a Canadian is a bad thing; I just wouldn’t put multiple ones on a lineup

    I agree with BIF. 16 is probably close…maybe 20%

People will probably move up to the chalk at 7500, or drop down to the 6000’s.

    Any thoughts on these guys making up a decent chunk of my player pool (DK);

    -Patrick Cantlay
    -Ollie Schniederjans
    -Chad Campbell
    -Graham DeLaet
-Smylie Kaufman (With 4 par 5’s he snuck his way onto my list)
