Since the greens are so small here, would it smart to bump up GIR and downgrade putting even more than usual? Doesn’t seem like this is a putting contest on the surface to me.

Great post…looking at info from data golf this is what I found to support your post..looking at which SG stat accounted for the most…

    2017
SG Approach 42% Event avg 36.5% Tour Avg 34.8%
SG Putting 31.4% Event Avg 33.5% Tour Avg 35.8%

    2016
    SG Approach 33.6%
    SG Putting 28.2%

    2015
    SG Approach 40.4%
    SG Putting 29.4%

SG Around the Green is interesting. Play close attention to weather. If wet this won’t play much importance, if not then should account for.
    2017 11.5%
    2016 23.2%
    2015 16.3%
I would say that 2016 was dry and greens were firm, 2017 quite wet and soft while 2015 was perhaps a mixture.

A couple players still to be added and edits may need to be made as Qualifier is going on plus Barbasol Kentucky event still finishing up.

thanks, I was just looking for tournament sheets and couldn’t get in. was thinking SHIT they want us to pay now. I am glad thats not the case. Found some interesting reads in some of his other info, which I never noticed before. Check out the awards part. He gives a lot of places to get golfing info within his best and worst awards.

2016 was crazy dry/firm – think they hadn’t had rain for weeks which was very strange in that area.

As an aside, Driving accuracy is of little importance here too as most of the top finishers the past couple years hit only 45-53% of fairways. The rough here is playable and the players have clearly been playing a bomb and gouge approach here of hitting driver and then going to find it – other than a couple holes in the valley on the back nine, that approach works well.

It’s kind of weird to see 2 types of players with success here:
    1. Bombers – Vegas, Day as winners and lots of others with top finishes like DJ, Hagy even Hoffman hits it pretty deep.
    2. Short-Medium hitters who are accurate with very high GIR percentages have been scattered in with higher finishes

It’s the kind of course that yes you can over power as a bomber but you still need to hit a decent amount of greens in reg as the bunkers here are pretty penal and scrambling is not as easy as at most (non-major) courses. With pretty low scoring overall and winners in the -15 to -20 range, it is surprising how many missed greens there are here with most players only hitting around 70% (or 12-13 a round). With easy par 5’s, players are only hitting HALF of the other (Par 3&4 holes) GIR because of the small greens. An extra GIR and/or an extra scramble-save each day is the difference between a Top 10 and 50th place.

Got 20 in my player pool already. Baby number 2 is due Thursday. Playing a dangerous game reserving 50 lineups. Going to have to make them tonight. We shall see how no tinkering and overthinking works this week.

Happy Meal Cup standings are updated. Eric2323 moved into a tie for 1st place after finishing 4th this week. And they said no one would catch Ketter7 because he had it “so easy” earlier in the season. COLTSMITCH and tristanwolf moved into the Top 10 (12).

I’m so curious about who the BIF super sleeper for this tourney is. You had mentioned previously he was a web.com and that he got a spot in this event but there’s just not many guys I see on the list that would seem to fit the criteria. There are a couple of canadians who I’ve never heard of but they’ve either only played the McKenzie tour or no tours at all that I can find. I guess maybe we’ll just have to wait and see

Good battle going on for the last couple of spots in the Canadian Open – it doesn’t matter fantasy wise as these guys won’t be in the salaried player pool but I know a couple of these guys and also played this course (Heron Point) in one of my first national tournaments as an adult against the men 😂 back in the early 90’s at the now-defunct Canadian Club Champions tournament. I don’t remember much from it besides it being super-hot and humid to the point where one competitor fainted on a longish uphill walk from a green to the next tee then for Round 2 they had carts to shuttle the players on 2 holes from green to tee.

    @Dunz
it wont be too difficult to narrow down who might or might not be his (BIF’s) sleeper pick.
I dont know who is entered but from history, many of the Canadians have played for years. they would not be his NEW super sleeper pick.
We will be looking for a Makenzie tour player, he will be young (early 20’s). A rookie or 2nd year player. First timer in RBC Canadian Open.
just a little sorting and we should find it.
