I just put Dustin Johnson in my cash in . Last guy in. Price too tempting. Might change that, though. If I get cold feet.

After heavy Morikawa last week, I’m fading.

I do to an extent. No experience here though. Probably others in that range if you’re in to CH. I think that i’m running back Doc on Yahoo! along with NeSmith. I have Mav in 1/3 on DK…

EDIT: Might want to wait for a more qualified response.

The last 5 winners here ranked between 35th and 75th in Driving Distance that week of the players who made the cut (there were 70 to 76 players depending on the year).

For example, Jim Furyk ranked 75th out of the 76 players who made the cut in Driving Distance the year he won here.

Bottom Line – Distance off the tee means ZERO here and can actually be a detriment on most holes as it cuts off your angles and leaves you with shots that have to deal with overhanging branches.

Which makes me question DJ but he has had success here and the price is outrageous

That stats was just for the winners, it’s possible some longer guys have done ok here.

Just shows you how much technology has changed the game as Davis Love III has won here 5 times and used to be the (like DJ/Bryson back in the day) as the longest hitter on tour BUT that was when the longest was 285yd avg now 315+ !

On most holes here 250-275 is the max needed

More interesting tidbits for this week is that this tourney is normally played on a mix of Bermuda and overseeded Rye on the greens in April (it’s normal slot in the calendar right after the Masters) and now it’ll be played on a very wirey and grainy Bermuda which totally changes the playing conditions especially around the greens.

Greens should be slightly firmer than normal and most importantly the pure Bermuda is super grainy – I heard on PGA Tour radio that many players have been seen chunking chips around the greens due to the toughness of the Bermuda rough as they aren’t used to playing on this type of Bermuda at this time of the year.

Can we assume there will be some carnage rounds then with a lot of bogeys and double bogeys?

Fade Morikawa to MC or just notch outside top 30? Haha

Even with all the stars in the game today, him and Im are probably the hardest players to fade in golf atm

Only using him in Showdown as he seems to do most of his damage before the cut.

The last 4 winners here have been 1st time winners on the PGA Tour.

2016 Grace won in his 2nd appearance here
2017 Bryan won in his 1st appearance
2018 Kodaira won in his 1st appearance
2019 Pan won in his 3rd appearance

A handful or so of guys have great course history but you don’t need a ton of history here to finish high. Many 1st timers have have Wins and top 10 finishes.

  • BIF

I don’t think it’s an all out carnage thing but I think there will be some bad chips/pitches as some guys misjudge how the ball will react from some lies in the rough. These guys are good and can figure it out quickly and make the adjustments needed but there will still be some misread lies and mental lapses over 4 days.

I can see a few more bogies overall but other than a couple holes with water, we should not see a ton of doubles.

Have not looked at a wind forecast but it can cause problem here as it’ll swirl in the trees and then really blow on the finishing holes out on the Sound.

Yeah, you guys seem to agree that I am a moron. I will try to consolidate my lineups a bit but at this point it will just be minor tinkering. Next week I’ll work harder to have a smaller group of golfers.

Now I approve of small tight player pools. BUT your not a moron for using as many as you like. Some good and bad things can happen. Nothing is wrong (Well any train over 5 is wrong IMHO).

I made a copy here PGA GOLFER INFO that we could update if Drew isn’t around anymore. If anyone has time for some updates, I can grant access to the new sheet. If Drew is still around, we can continue his work. Otherwise, we can do nothing an appreciate it for what it is. Ha-ha…

I’m still around, but yeah…. haven’t updated that sheet in awhile.

Definitely a good choice for a cheap guy, I like him and put him on one of my 3 lineups this week, he’s got a lot of talent and I think he gets a win in the next 2 years

What happens if you entered the same lineup twice in the milli and won? Would the actual split be worse than 1 million? I know 1st is 1 million then a steep drop to 100k for 2nd.

  • bjrogers2000

There are lots of bargains this week. But the bargain of the week is Sergio at $7300.

  • bjrogers2000

Very good points, but as I told my wife, the only way to win a million dollars is to enter the contest that pays a million dollars.

Edit: trying to figure out how to include someone’s quote

Wouldn’t you then win first and second place money? Top two lineups even if they are the same ? Not sure On this
