Thursday – The calm before the storm.
AM – Dry, winds around 5-10mph through the morning (closer to 5 early, 10 late AM).
PM – Low chance of rain, likely dry, winds still manageable, 10-15mph through the afternoon.
Friday – First the winds, then the rain.
AM – Winds start out at around 20mph sustained, gusts over 30 easily. By late morning those sustained winds should climb even a bit higher (peak winds come in the afternoon).
PM – Winds around 25-30mph sustained early afternoon (gusts 40+), holding strong through the remainder of the day. Rain/storms will also be moving in on Friday. Timing looks like late afternoon / early evening.
Saturday & Sunday – Winds will still be very stout Saturday, holding around 20mph until the later afternoon when it will start to subside. Sunday looks to be back to nice golfing weather.
Overall – You can’t dodge the winds. Friday morning (the earlier the better) is ugly, but it will be lower wind than Friday afternoon, and my current thinking is that you try to take advantage of that. The alternative is to stack Friday afternoon golfers in the hope that play gets called due to rain. Again, definitely possible, but before the storms arrive the winds will be at peak, and even if you get things called in the mid-afternoon, it’s not as if Saturday is back to cake golfing (still 20mph winds, comparable to early on Friday).
