I am the type of person that thinks when my team is down 40 at the 2 minute warning we still have a chance, but I am starting to accept the reality of the situation as the clock is about to hit zero. Without ranting and crying, this is an underrated awful for the DFS industry and everyone just lets it pass by…. smh

I want to make a deposit, but can’t find where to do it via Paypal. Do they accept Paypal?

  • 7thdaymoneytime

I emailed support this morning asking about this because I wanted to deposit too. I haven’t got a reply yet

The guy who was doing his own custom CFB DFS on fantrax looks like it is not going to happen. Sucks but I can understand if the guy not wanting to bring the wrath of the NCAA lawyers unto himself. Wonder if Fanpicks will follow suit or risk running pay DFS contest with the NCAA powers that be looming about.

  • mellofellowsu

College sports in DFS is over. Simple as that. It was the price we had to pay to keep it legal.

  • hammersticks84

You’re 1 person. Sure there are others but not enough to matter even a little. Dfs community is much smaller than you think if you think it has any effect on something as huge as TV ratings for CfB.

That said I’m bummed and have discussed with friends even creating a system of our own to at least play Amongst ourselves on Saturdays. If a site or person would create a system or release pricing and budget or something at least while leaving everything else up to you, like how fantasy football was pre Internet….that’d make a lot of sense to me. Something where you can’t enter contests or gamble on it but literally just released pricing so you could track yourself I feel like that wouldn’t be against rules…

    What I don’t get is this…

Sports gambling is illegal yet I can easily find 10 sites in the next 5 mins to gamble on. I have accounts on 4 at least I can think of off the top of my head. Why Is there not any lower profile site Doing this somehow with Dfs and offering cfb.

because sports betting is just 2 parties exchanging prices essentially. dfs is much more reliant on volume, especially to set guaranteed prize pools (cash games included). you can probably get h2h contests but anything beyond that probably would require a business plan, cost/time/resources, prob need to staff a couple employees to maintain/manage the additional offering. In today’s society you don’t just start offering products for free or with no effort.

Draftkings just launched the new leagues. It would be nice if they left CFB up for free to play

What NCAA powers do you speak of?
One of the most corrupt organizations on the planet…the NCAA — maybe the Dept. of Education is worse, overall….but I don’t think so.

100% LEGAL in a load of states, including W.Va. — to play college DFS

  • winning9191

Only complaints I see about Fanpicks is people 50 use bonus dollars and tried to cash out the win with free money.

  • Dadeano860

7 contests? Might as well not exist. The reality of no college dfs has me depressed, I figured it would be worked out and be available. Guess I’ll have fun battling the sharks in the NFL. College dfs just isn’t big enough a draw for any worthwhile site to offer it.

  • Dadeano860

And I still Google search and log on here daily holding out hope!

  • eKing

Is FanPicks making a huge mistake by offering NCAA football without any noise?

If I was a small site and the only site offering a sport, I would be in every DFS community, contacting every NCAA expert, top NCAA DFS players to get the word out. I would offer bigger GPPs than the current offerings to generate more play. On RG, I would also address issues and rumors the site had in the past and the things FanPicks can do to improve upon them to explode this unique sport on our site. They do not seem to be capitalizing on the situation as much as they should and I feel it is an opportunity wasted. Discouraging.

  • Dadeano860

Absolutely agree. They are taking a risk offering ncaa and are missing a huge chance to get traffic to their site. I don’t get it. The site seemed smooth and pricing OK. Probably just have inept management

  • mvanderk10

I don’t think you understand the amount of time and manpower goes into running a site like that. They probably don’t have enough capital, staff, or traffic to offer big money. College being a small niche market (3% of draft kings profits) it would be hard to get people to join. Trying to get people based solely on college isn’t worth the risk right now, especially with a small site.

  • ItzJamesFTW

FanPicks taking 15% rake on a 20-man tourney. Ouch.

  • eileengalloway

So they are taking 15%…big deal. No other site I can find is offering CFB! I will gladly pay the premium!

  • Dadeano860

Vanderk- the point was they should dedicate that limited manpower and resources towards college because that is what makes them unique. Who in there right mind would take their NFL or big sport $ to a second rate site like that? Further, who would even find the site? I only checked it out due to the post here. Fanpicks can’t think they are going to challenge fanduel or dk for NFL $. They should go all out to push their market uniqueness and capitalize on the risk they are taking by offering NCAA

Some of the DFS sites that could be interested likely aren’t located overseas, or structured in a way that can protect them from U.S. law.

Also, beyond just managing the contests as was mentioned, you also have to have someone pricing players. Not the easiest thing to do in college, as even the major sites seemed to struggle with it. It’s not as simple as taking a Vegas Line and replicating and than adjusting based on bets you’re taking in.

And the biggest thing – I can’t imagine the demand is there to make it worth the effort. If you look at the two biggest sites with huge player bases, What were the biggest CFB contests. 10K maybe 20K tops with multi-entry. Out of a huge player base in DFS there are only a few thousand actively playing College sports, how many of those people are going to find some random potentially illegal site to make it worth it?
The truth is DFS sites haven’t fought this issue to the death because college sports weren’t a huge draw.

  • mvanderk10

dedicating that much money to developer salaries, and to build a website like that cost a minimum of 100k plus equity…that’s way to much money for someone trying to take advantage of a market that may very well be shut down by the NCAA isn’t worth it. NCAA vs any site…you’re going to lose every time the NCAA is one of the most corrupt organizations that exists.

  • mvanderk10

any site offering college there mind set is..ehhh…we’ll make a tiny amount of money and see how long we can get away with it.

The NCAA doesn’t have any reasonable claim they can make against the sites. This idea keeps being repeated over and over again, presumably by people with little to no legal knowledge.
