Mine appeared to have changed from a one-year expiration date to a six-month expiration date. You may want to check any you won from MLB season to see if they are valid at the start of next season.

Also, Step tickets used to be valid for one year and now all of mine are 6-months. Was this announced? Should tickets you already had in hand be changed to expire from 1-year to 6-months?

I submitted a ticket, but if anyone has any news on this policy change, can you post a link?

Edit: This addressed here, but then I received the following response from DraftKings support:

“We do not exchange tickets for cash value. You received this ticket on August 2nd. You had two months of MLB season not including Playoffs to use this ticket. Unfortunately, since you did not use this ticket it will expire. Please make sure you use your tickets before the season for that sport ends.”

The fact that the expiration date was altered to January was never addressed.

looks like all my step tickets changed to 6 month aswell. thats bullshit, i wouldnt have kept 500$ of tickets past the end of nfl if i couldnt use them next season…

    All of mine as well

support responded to my email and basically said yea they are 6 months. done. i dont really understand how a ticket with an established expiration can be changed. i could see them changing the policy to 6 months going forward, but changing tickets u already have is doodoo.

Hey guys we’re aware of this issue, we hope to have all the expiration dates fixed by the end of the day tomorrow. All those tickets should/will expire 365 days after they were earned.

Thanks for the response and for correcting the error!

Received this from support, which never addresses that they recently changed the expiration date originally on the ticket. Also, I asked them to either adjust the expiration date on the ticket to sometime during MLB season or give me cash, not just the cash option.

the response should be, “please use your tickets before they expire.” which is august 2nd 2015.

I’m tired of DK’s shenanigans in regards to ticket expiration dates. They have satellites designated for specific tournaments. This makes sense. Then, after you win this satellite, they make the ticket available with expiration date of 365 date away. Thus, they make you believe that you can use this ticket not for just a specific tourney, but for a similar one in the future. Then, after tourney finishes, they take that ticket away from you. Happened to me a couple of weeks ago for $200 tourney. Now, i’m starting to make screen shots of ticket page just to have a reference if something like this happens. Sometimes tickets do not disappear, though. The thing that bothers me the most is lack of consistency in applying the rules.

Now, there are two ways to straighten this out. One, make all satellites sport-agnostic, as DS used to have it. You’ll probably be better able to fill all satellites, but it would be hard to target specific tournaments that need to be filled. Two, go with FD approach. If you won the entry to the tourney, the system will automatically enter you with dummy lineup and it is on you to submit actual one on time. I don’t like this option much, but at least I understand how it works.

With DK, users just don’t know what to expect. To add to confusion, customer service reps seem to come up with some random replies to inquires, that makes it even more confusing, That’s frustrating.

Further, I have always liked how DK was creative with tourney formats. However, this year it seems like it stopped being a priority. This summer, MLB had bunch of survivor and booster tournaments, For NBA, they never started survivors and only did 3-4 $50 boosters before dropping them altogether.

Overall, it sounds like customer acquisition have taken major priority over customer retention. Sad, but true. I’ve pulled most of my funds from DK and looking at alternative options.

    Hey Guys,
Due to a site bug, some tickets were given skewed expiration dates recently. We have resolved this issue and extended the expiration date on all tickets affected to account for the error. Also, no ticket’s expiration date was moved up during this fix.

Sorry for the issue again, and it should be fixed moving forward.

Or you could just actually enter the tournament you won a ticket for?

Usually it is my intention, but occasionally circumstances change. It is just If I don’t have ticket redemption flexibility, I’d like to know about that in advance.

Just to update this thread and resolve the original concern, I see why some of the ticket expirations were modified: The $200 Perfect Game for the 2014 season is now the $300 Perfect Game for the 2015 MLB season.

Ethan/DK did convert my original $200 Perfect Game Ticket to $200 DK cash, so the ticket was not wasted. Thanks.

Why are all the bigger tourneys now $300 instead of $200? Anyone know?

Not sure why. Looks like even the $1 and $2 are being pushed to larger $3 GPPs.

I recently won a .25 entry to a 3.00 ticket that, when I clicked on redeem stated that said ticket expired on 06/2015.I checked it daily waiting for a new contest to enter, only to find out 3 WEEKS LATER,yesterday that there were no more contests for that ticket. After repeated e-mails and asking for a number to call of course I didn’t get anywhere.I have proof and they will not admit their mistake,I’m going to fan duel as soon as tomorrow just as soon as my my current entries are done and I will cash in my remaining balance.

    Did you receive this email???

    Good Evening,

All of our tickets have standard expiration date of one year. When you receive a contest specific contest ticket, you must use it for that specific contest or we will then automatically expire the ticket as our standard operating procedure.

If you need anything else please let me know.

that was for the specific 100K moonshot contest. thats why it says “satellite to 100K moonshot” and when you read the description of the event it tells you the specific day of the contest you are qualifying for. if you win a ticket to a specific tournament and dont use it in that tournament of course it is going to expire
