I’m not trying to start a witch hunt here but given that RG is a promotional affiliate of Yahoo’s then wouldn’t their writers be banned from playing there?

I’m sure I’m misunderstanding something here.

Employees and agents of Yahoo, its affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising and promotional agencies, any other prize sponsor and any entity involved in the development, production, implementation, administration or fulfillment of the Contests (all the foregoing, together with Yahoo, collectively referred to as “Contest Entities”), and the immediate family members and persons living in the same household as any of the above may not participate in any publicly available paid Contests or free contests with cash or cash equivalent prizes except for purposes of testing the user experience on a limited basis. Participation in free contests with no prizes and private Contests is permitted.

Several of these guys play on Yahoo.

I’m sure I’m mistaken here, but wouldn’t mind hearing how I’m mistaken.

Seems like they could fall under affiliates….

But are guys like Notorious and STLCards84 even “employees” of Rotogrinders?

I always just assumed they were 1099’d I guess…not that ive given a lot of thought or anything… but most websites dont actually employ the people writing for them these days because of all the costs associated with maintaining employees

    Yeah that’s what I’m wondering

Confirming that this statement is correct

Actually, to the best of my knowledge, the only guy who consistently plays at Yahoo is kirkdiese. Guys like BigT and BrittDevine (even though he has started playing NBA as of a few weeks ago) don’t play at Yahoo. It was always one of the most odd things to me that two guys who don’t even play at Yahoo write up the “experts” write up for a site they don’t even play at (or have taken long stretches of not playing at Yahoo). But, I digress…. Hoops2410 (or whatever his name exactly is) also plays and is/was an RG contributor, but never wrote up the Yahoo “experts” thing. Suppose the list goes on. I would guess whatever that statement is pertains more directly to actual employees of Yahoo but I am not a lawyer to figure out what this means exactly:

agents of Yahoo, its affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising and promotional agencies, any other prize sponsor and any entity involved in the development, production, implementation, administration or fulfillment of the Contests

Suppose when it’s all said and done…who really cares?

Britt definitely plays Yahoo. He’s in my cash games every night.

I realize he’s currently playing. He’s been writing for Yahoo for a couple of years, yet he has very large gaps of not playing at all (hence as I mentioned he is playing now in my original message). The fact of the matter is he has written Yahoo articles for a few years but was not an active player in any definition of the word for the majority of his time writing said articles.

Can speak for me, I’m not an employee of RG, I do 1099 work for them and am not an affiliate or breaking any terms of service.

In regards to guys writing Yahoo columns and not playing, I don’t think that’s a big deal as long as they are doing a good job. Anybody writing should have the tools available and knowledge to help identify good plays. Also, some of the best content in this industry comes from people who don’t even play DFS. It’s up to you (the player) to consume what you want and what works for you.
