Chat mod said he wanted to remain anonymous. As far as I know the guys a ghost, he isn’t even registered to RG, unless of course it’s under an alias.

Big congrats to him 250 on DS insane.

We need to check tax records to identify this guy. I’ll do it as a RotoGrinders exclusive story if they pay me.

I think it kinda sucks for DS who now has a lot invested in him publicity wise.

But as a player i can definitely see why you would not want to go. This is a job for him not a vacation as many other people seem to take it as. You have to wonder how the parties, drinking, interviews etc cut into research. And just the general feel of not being in a familiar place to work out of.

IMO if people want to party it up go to the awesome grinders party. If you want to win a championship i would most likely do as Militar did and take advantage of not dealing with the distractions.

Hopefully dan gets militar on podcast this week. Unbelievable fanatsy player. (Or bot). Congrats.

  • FBO

    maybe get TMZ on it

Militar is no question an outstanding DFS player. Bot? Nah. Someone is running and inputting data. Congrats to him (or her)!

Congrats to all our buddies that even made it to the championship. Really unbelievable and congratulations to you all!

If the day ever comes that I get so lucky as to qualify for one of these, save Michael Jordan or somebody of the like showing up I will likely not go either. Not a partyier myself as it is, and being in an unfamiliar place (and close to casinos lol) would hinder me in the tournament.

Probably one of the more underrated aspects of this. I love these trips and wouldn’t even try to qualify if I wasn’t going to go and have fun, but there is a fish out of water feeling for some people who have a Routine at home on the ole desktop.

he may be a shy person or have some social anxiety but why judge? to criticize his no-show at a live final because YOU would have gone is short sighted and ignorant. he’s obviously a consistently successful player and your post seems born from jealousy rather than curiosity. anyone who wins a championship that doesn’t require its participants to attend the event has no obligation to show up in my opinion.

While I was watching and seeing my dream crushed as Beepimajeep and Mackcream rightfully put me in 2nd at home and not 1st in Vegas I thought about this.

Not now as I am older and established, but maybe Millitar is in his 20’s and has some type of employment or family prejudices that requires him to be low key.

Today I got one of StatClash’s 29 entries for their Super Bowl contest next Sunday. If I win, I’ll invite Millitar, we could make a lot of rain with a fresh million!!!!!!!!!11 #girlfriendnutkick

its just bad for a site to give away one million and the person is not even there thats all, did he have any friends there to represent him like the people that were at both touneys today

  • Putz

Don’t some sites stats that you must show up to win the $$ and do an interview, etc.?

Clearly you never saw the Full House where DJ is in the casino…my gf was roped off like that once when she was young in a casino too.
We were in LV last week (NOT on the weekend, I am not THAT good at DFS…we did win the trip thru DFS though…) and there were kids in casinos they just can’t gamble. Times have changed…

My guess is that they will all stipulate this going forward. If you can’t attend, you have to at least send someone to represent you.

The experience is absolutely incredible. But I will say this, when I was in the baseball final, I went down to Lagasse Stadium about an hour before games started. My lineup was set and I figured I would just double check lineups from my phone. Well it got to about 20-30 minutes before game time and I was still waiting on a lineup.

At that point I got scared, and ran back up to my hotel room to get my laptop and check as many places as I could, refreshing constantly. With about 10 minutes til lineups locked, I was scrambling to replace a guy who wasn’t in the lineup. I could certainly understand with that much money on the line (and it’s gone up a lot since even a year ago), some people wanting to be setup with your “normal” routine. But the experience is well worth it.

I thought it was strange that he was picking up my $5 games yesterday when he was getting ready to compete for the million.

Yeah, congrats to Militar but I’m guessing DS REALLY wanted the winner to be there for advertising purposes, winner celebration photos, etc.

Maybe rickmilitar works for the NSA and needs his identity to remain confidential :P

Agree with this completely, and I suspect they’ll throw in a stipulation saying the winner has to be in attendance to collect in the future; obviously it hurts them if the winner wants to remain anonymous, and consequently can’t do interviews, etc.

That said, I don’t think it’s a huge shock that there are some private people in DFS, seeing as the key components of it are sitting at a laptop and watching television. With my line of work, I can tell you that I’d also be hesitant to get too much attention from winning an event like this – I wouldn’t remain anonymous, as I think it hurts the industry when these big events have a sort of anticlimactic finish, but I can see why some would prefer to keep their privacy.

  • travs424

i am wondering if he joins every game today like it is just another day.

My guess is he already had a million, so yesterday was no big deal to him.

Congrats rick, you dont need Vegas , Vegas needs you….

  • Superrfly

DS already has (or had for a long time?) Matthew Berry pumping them, I think they’re doing just fine from a PR standpoint.
