This week has been full of forecasting challenges, and so far I’m exceedingly pleased with how it’s gone, but we’ll still got a few more troubles to dodge…
NYM @ SF – Winds WSW at 15-20 mph, technically blowing out, but the winds here are never really helpful, since the stadium was built to minimize wind.
MIA @ PIT – Rain after the game. GREEN.
STL @ PHI – A stray pop-up? Doubt it. GREEN / YELLOW.
BOS @ DET – Line of storms will roll through DET tonight, it’s too early to know exactly when, but right now models bring the storms during game-time hours. ORANGE. Winds south 15-20, gusts 25mph, blowing in from center or right-center.
LAD @ CIN – Scattered showers and storms. ORANGE / YELLOW.
OAK @ CWS – Rain clear or clearing by first pitch. GREEN.
TOR @ CLE – Main line of storms likely to arrive after the game. Models are hinting at a weaker mini-line showing up near first pitch, but I’m not exactly sold on that scenario, and think we are more than likely OK to play here. Worth a look at radar pre-lock for sure. YELLOW / GREEN.
WASH @ ATL – Same exact scenario as the last couple of nights. Scattered t-storms, winding down as the sun sets. The last 2 nights we had a late-start, followed by clean games, and I think that is the most likely outcome here too, but with t-storms anything can happen. ORANGE / YELLOW.
That’s all for today. I’m going to be throwing out the first pitch at a minor league game tonight (odds on me bouncing it?), which might make it a bit tough to give my usual tweets/updates all night. I realize it’s a big night with the FanDuel WFBC, so I’ll ask David Wolter if he can cover an update for me tonight. If not, I’ll just do my best to keep you as informed as possible.
